I was the same way. I played way stronger than I could bench. I have decently longer arms I could do 225 like 2-3 times but that was it. But I had stronger shoulders and traps. I honestly think bench press is over rated. If your on your back playing football you have bigger problems. -

As an O-Lineman, who the bench might benefit most, the bench doesn't have much use. When you're locking out a defender with your arms, the movement mimics the close grip bench press more than a regular bench. How many times have we seen an O-Lineman with his arms extended beyond shoulder width to ward off a defender? Squats & cleans are actually better "football" lifts, but I digress.Crimson streak;1396534 wrote:I was the same way. I played way stronger than I could bench. Yeah, I dont think any single drill should make or break you, especially a DB's bench. I dont see it as a big deal, just underwhelming to me. I unfortunately havent been able to watch the combine this year. Is he done with all the drills ? If so, how did he look?Gblock;1396528 wrote:I have seen guys who dont bench very much for various reasons but might be able to curl 100llb weights or huge amounts on shrugs or military press. some guys have much more strength in shoulders and back than necessarily pecs. i dont see it as a big deal as a db especially when he posted a 4.43 40 time. -

Lil' Animal seems to be doing okay for himself in the league. Maybe Te'o can too. -
BR1986FBSirius XM was talking about how the Steelers are one of the worst front offices in the league at "robbing Peter to pay Paul" (restructuring deals). They said it was the equivalent of making all of your purchases with a credit card and not paying off the balance monthly. Eventually, it will come back to bite you. Compared them to the Raiders in this aspect. Cowboys are in the worst shape.

Lil' Animal also has won a few B1G championships and BCS bowl games and relied on skill and talent rather than media hype. Te's spent most of his college career texting a fake girlfriend and getting blown out in games that actually mattered. The two don't even belong in the same sentence.killer_ewok;1396882 wrote:@evansilva: James Laurinaitis' 2009 Combine: 6017/244, 4.82 40, 4.24 20-yard shuttle. If that is indeed true it wasnt always that way, and started mostly in the BR era. It wasnt until a few years ago that they would even approach a guy about restructuring a deal, they never had a salary cap purge where they had to just cut alot of big players, and wouldnt overpay for FA's. I dont buy they are the worst in the league, but they are much worse then they were say 6-7 years ago and I blame it on having an elite QB that they want to keep. The steelers have routinely let their own FA's walk without making a big splash and bringing in other FA's. Just wasnt how they operated. They usually would pay alot of their own players a very good sum, keep as much as the core as they could, and build in the draft. WHen they started to draft some franchise players they wanted to keep they had to start playing the game.BR1986FB;1396892 wrote:Sirius XM was talking about how the Steelers are one of the worst front offices in the league at "robbing Peter to pay Paul" (restructuring deals). Your comments ring true regarding Roethlisberger. Gotta be a bitch to have 20% of your cap space tied up in one player.thavoice;1396973 wrote:If that is indeed true it wasnt always that way, and started mostly in the BR era. Also, Lil' Animal was on 1 BCS Bowl winning team so "games" should not be plural. However, that one win was over ND so, as you say, enjoy! -

I know some still whine about Super Bowl XL but what exactly happened in Super Bowl XLIII that anyone had an issue with? -

The B1G is such a grueling conference that a championship is equivalent to a BCS bowl victory. I should have just left it at "big games"; something Te'o has never accomplished(I can't remember if Te'o was on the team from the "close loss" to USC which is maybe ND's biggest "win" since the 80's).killer_ewok;1397032 wrote:Also, Lil' Animal was on 1 BCS Bowl winning team so "games" should not be plural. No, he wasn't on that team. -

On that interception return for a TD by slow ass Harrison I saw a ref cut the legs of a Cardinal defender just as he was about to tackle the Headhunter.killer_ewok;1397036 wrote:I know some still whine about Super Bowl XL but what exactly happened in Super Bowl XLIII that anyone had an issue with? -

That is pretty much when it started to happen. They never had a QB that they considered to be a franchise QB until then. I rmemeber they let Odonnel go after XXX because they didnt want to pay him thehuge deal of 25 million over 5 years (those figure sound funny now....)BR1986FB;1397013 wrote:Your comments ring true regarding Roethlisberger. When they signed BR to over 100 million ya knew days like this were coming for the steelers. They never are big players in FA. They are always right at the cap and tend to resign their core guys but never have big money for others. (and our Season tix prices went up like 10 bucks a ticket after that signing).
STeelers have hard stance on contracts as they wont deal during the season an dusually are no nonsense when it comes to it. I look for BR to redo his deal to help the team and it wont be the first time it has happened for big name QB's. They usually get more guarenteed money so why not do it? -

IF ya wanna blame anyone on that ya should look at some of the Cardinal palyers on the sideline. One of them was in the way of I think Fitz and was ran into or he makes the tackle easy. If the Card players were back like they were supposed to that never becomes a TD!BR1986FB;1397042 wrote:On that interception return for a TD by slow ass Harrison I saw a ref cut the legs of a Cardinal defender just as he was about to tackle the Headhunter. -

Looks like they have restructured Timmons two years in a row. Didn't they restructure Roethlisberger last year too? Not a good situation to be in. Dallas is in much worse shape. They are trying to redo/extend Romo.thavoice;1397043 wrote:That is pretty much when it started to happen. They never had a QB that they considered to be a franchise QB until then. I realized that after your last post about it. Was honestly just wondering. -
thavoiceYeah..I think they have redone Timmons this year.
As big as a steelers fan I am I dont get into the draft or the offseason contract stuff. In season my buddies and I have season tix and make the 600+ mile roady a few times a season for games and most who know me are surprised I dont pay attention much to the draft and offseason stuff. Just like I dont get into the recruiting stuff in college sports. Just for whatever reason I dont do it. -
killer_ewokTimmons deal did get redone recently. Yesterday, I think.
