2013 NHL Random Chatter

Since there's actually going to be a season I suppose we can fire this up.

Looks like Tomas Holmstrom is going to retire: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-hockey/21511442/red-wings-holmstrom-expected-to-retire-zetterberg-to-wear-c

Bruins need to trade Thomas, ASAP.
  • TedSheckler
Why would any team trade for Tim Thomas? He's not playing this season.
  • End of Line
Evgeni Malkin will win the Art Ross, Hart, and Lindsay again. He's been on fire in the KHL (31 points in the past 11 games, 62 points in 36 games overall). Crosby will unleash hell on the league as well. It'll come down to either the Pens or Rangers winning the cup.

I would be shocked if the Canucks and Kings are not up there as well

Dunno if the Canucks can do it again. Kesler is still out after another surgery and Kings most likely make it to ECF against St. Louis.

I bet they get a ton for Luongo though, or at least a few good pieces. I'm worried about that Red Wings D though, it's weak

Players have missed more time due to injury. A non playoff team not having him for half a season won't make a difference.

Winning the cup this year is completely meaningless.

Meh, come playoff time this year, and especially come next year, most people will forget the champion was that of a shortened season.

If you think NBA, basically no one holds it against the 1999 Spurs that the season was 50 games long, or even last years Heat (66 game season), for that matter

Just my opinion -I think it's tainted calling yourself the champion for winning half a season.

and their was a season the Redskins won the super bowl that was shortened.

The thing is this......they will still have the full playoffs. It is not like they are gonna cut down the teams in the playoffs so ya have less games/series to win for The Cup. If they did that then yeah, I could say it would be compromised/.

I actually wouldn't mind if a shorter season was the norm. I expect the playoffs to be awesome since there should be less injured players going in. I'm just bitter about the entire situation.

But he doesn't have an injury. He's just not playing. I know lots of teams that want to pay him $5 million for sitting on his ass.

Yea. I'm pretty sure in the player's meetings, they all came to the consensus that they don't want their names on the Cup this year.

    Shut up, stupid.

Brian Burke is out in Toronto: https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/289060032434302976

Best GM the Bruins ever had.

He'll be sitting for half a year, I guarantee you a team trades for him. idgaf about what players think, but being the best half season team doesn't exactly scream bragging rights. Lots of teams have good half years, doesn't mean much.

Lebron won it without having to play a full year, if that's his only ring, it's definitely tainted.

What part of "taking 2012-2013 off" don't you get?

You understand half of that is over right?
  • TedSheckler
Oh. I must have missed the part where he said he's taking half of 12-13 off.

    Kovalchuk might not come back...

Cause 48 games and then the meat grinder playoffs that the league has is undeserving right?

jim norton does it better. What's more, 82 games or 48?
