2013 Cleveland Browns Thread: RIP Chud

shook_17Hey we are getting there. Hopefully Weeden pans out. From that link COA posted the guy says he thinks Weeden will be the answer. Im jacked for this year, even though I feel this way every year. We have some legit offensive weapons this year. And for once we finally have some good OLBs and a deep defensive line. Hopefully our secondary can pull it together.

Yeah, we need a thumper in the middle -

Dr. KnOiTaLL
I would've liked Daryl Smith. Ravens got him for cheap, and he's a leader on the defensive side of the ball. Hindsight though, I guess.wes_mantooth;1486091 wrote:Yeah, we need a thumper in the middle -
BR1986FBYep. Definitely could use a terrorizing intimidator on the inside. DQ's solid but he's not built for the 3-4.

BR1986FBSo I became a grandfather for the first time today (as I mentioned on Belly's thread in Serious Business). The kid was supposed to be a girl (according to ultrasound) but after my girlfriend went out and bought all of this frilly girls stuff I told her...."you're making a mistake....it's gonna be a boy." And, of course, they were wrong and it was a boy.
They had a name picked out for the girl but are now scrambling for a boys name. With the father being a Steeler fan I've suggested the name "Trent Richardson Hines (fathers last name). I doubt that flyes but the Steeler "demons" will be exorcised from the bloke with the purchase of numerous Browns items. -

Congrats! Steelers fan huh? How about Joe Turkey Jones Hines? Think he'll get it?BR1986FB;1486381 wrote:So I became a grandfather for the first time today (as I mentioned on Belly's thread in Serious Business). Something came out a week or so ago about how this franchise would've never drafted Weeden or something to that effect. If I'm a betting man, it's Lombardi. He had the hard on for Mallett while ripping on Weeden, Josh Gordon & Richardson.Commander of Awesome;1486411 wrote:http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2013-08-13/brandon-weeden-cleveland-browns-not-supporting-privately-leaks-chudzinski

HereticI went to a co-worker's cubicle today and he had a Browns news item on. I'm sure this will break CoA's heart, but apparently Hardesty has hurt his thumb, which might hurt his chances of remaining employed, since he's apparently fallen to #3 on the depth chart behind Richardson and Dion Lewis.
I know, I know. This will be a tough one to take, what with all the love people had for how he's always hurt and can't hold onto the ball when healthy. Just don't shoot the bearer of bad tidings! -

I saw the Hardesty injury yesterday and my first words were "he's done." I supported the dude for as long as I could but he's a China Doll vag.Heretic;1486422 wrote:I went to a co-worker's cubicle today and he had a Browns news item on. Not really. Frankly, for Shurmur's 'stink & stunk" WCO, Weeden should've never been drafted. Midget Boy McCoy might have been able to run that offense better. Weeden didn't fit it. He does fit this system with it's shotgun/vertical attack.SportsAndLady;1486423 wrote:Are they wrong?
It would suck if Weeden had an impressive season and they made him "one & done" with this regime considering the instability the position has had since 1999. -
Heretic
Bizarre thing is that I read he hurt his thumb fielding a direct snap. Guess that ties in with just how bad his hands were during those brief periods of being healthy (didn't he have a game last year where he dropped something like five passes?).BR1986FB;1486424 wrote:I saw the Hardesty injury yesterday and my first words were "he's done." No..it was an "errant" direct snap...LOL....As I've said before, dumbass could fall into a pile of tits and come out sucking his thumb. Commander of AwesomeNate Ulrich ‏@NateUlrichABJ now #Browns HC Chud said Brandon Bogotay will be only kicker who plays Thursday vs. #Lions. Shayne Graham will get night off.
TRIch to play, Hardesty dislocated thumb (prob heading to IR as we speak) and starters to play 1st half against loloins. -
BR1986FBTo piggyback on the Weeden comments, after hearing Joe Banner talk on the radio yesterday I think that he, Turner & Chud are cautiously optimistic that Weeden can move forward as the QB and they are going to give him every chance to prove himself. Banner spoke of all of the "work" that Weeden put in trying to genuinely improve his game. Now it's up to Weeden which is all that he, or anyone, can ask of them.
-
bases_loadedIt's up to Weeden whether this is a one and done or not. If he performs, the team will win, and no one is going to replace a guy who is having success. No matter how much they didn't like him as a pick.

I just hope he's really good OR really bad so there's no doubt as to whether they move forward with him. If he's average, they could be indecisive on whether to cut the cord.bases_loaded;1486695 wrote:It's up to Weeden whether this is a one and done or not. Weeden has been the guy, and the Browns success has been basically put on his shoulders, since the previous regime decided to take him in the first round.
This regime, while they probably weren't huge on the pick, would probably concede that having Weeden puts the team in a better position to win now than not having Weeden and are going to give him a couple years (including last year..so maybe 1 or 2 more years) to prove he can be a good QB.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted "their" guy soon, to sit behind Weeden. -
BR1986FB
They will have to. Even if he does well this season they can't bank on him being the answer for a prolonged period down the road.SportsAndLady;1486698 wrote: But I wouldn't be surprised if they drafted "their" guy soon, to sit behind Weeden. -

Yeah...but say Weeden has a good season this year (he very well could..from everything I've read he's looked pretty good this year, which I'm happy to see), they could get 3-4 good seasons out of him. No need to draft a QB until at least 2015 if that's the case.BR1986FB;1486700 wrote:They will have to. Agreed. Man wouldn't it be nice to have the same QB starting for a 4-5 year stretch and actually be pretty good?SportsAndLady;1486714 wrote:Yeah...but say Weeden has a good season this year (he very well could..from everything I've read he's looked pretty good this year, which I'm happy to see), they could get 3-4 good seasons out of him.
