Makes sense. Would give them the first 19 and ESPN/ABC the last 17. I could see ABC/ESPN try to get the Daytona 500 every other year (NBC did this in the mid 2000's) and make it 18/18

I like it because teams with quality #1, #2 punches will do the best.
Joe Gibbs Racing will be really tough to beat Saturday night.

The fact that they are starting on the front row means Toyota turned the speed back up in their engines. I'm concerned about their motors holding together.

Two engines went in the Nationwide race last night and they were Chevy's.

Nationwide doesn't run the same RPM's and speed as the Cup cars though.

Are we keeping score of blown engines?
  • GoChiefs
Nope. As long as it's not the #18 or #20, I don't care who blows up.

I wish another team could afford to buy Chad Knaus.
  • GoChiefs
Budweiser is sticking with Harvick. Will sponsor Harvick in the #4 car for 20 races at SHR next season.

Ryan Newman is officially out at SHR next year.

Second best crew chief in nascar history to ray evernham, though I could buy him as the best because in my opinion Jimmie Johnson has never been one of the 3 most talented drivers in cup any season. Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, and Matt Kenseth are all more talented and have had good crew chiefs but none near the level of Knaus. It is amazing what he has done with Johnson.
  • GoChiefs
Knaus is number 1 in my book.

Who is taking Harvick's spot for Childress? I really don't pay attention anymore. When I did watch Nascar, I was a Dale Sr. then Harvick fan. Too bad to see Harvick leave.

Austin Dillon I would guess. Probably going to bring him up and run the 3. Kurt Busch is available as well and I think he would be a good fit at Childress, but Jeff Burton is still under contract
  • GoChiefs
Yeah, I think Childress will just drop the #29 car altogether and bring Austin up to drive the #3 to keep RCR a 3 car stable of Dillon, Burton, and Menard. I think Bud leaving really hurt the chances of there being a 4th RCR team. Sponsorship dollars are just too hard to come by these days, and he already will have to get sponsors for the #3 car. He already pretty much has a 4th car in Furniture Row's #78 and Kurt Busch.

Menard, Burton, Dillon. Oh, how the once mighty have fallen.
  • GoChiefs
Shocking....Johnson qualified 2nd, but failed post qualifying inspection. Will start in the back.

Menard is having a lot of bad luck this year but he's a decent driver. He's as good as jr, isn't he?

No. The only reason he has a ride at RCR is because of daddy's money. Since joining RCR he has a whopping 1 win and 5 top 5's (only 1 in 2012). He's nowhere near Jr.

    FIFY.

I'm looking forward to seeing a the 3 back in the Sprint Cup. I wonder how Sr fans will react.

It's been 12 years. It's time for Sr. fans to get over it.

Playing the FIFY game with ya.....

Fans love jr. because of his dad. Not because of his racing record.

No doubt Menard has a very secure sponsor. :D

19 wins (38th most all time), 109 Top 5's, 192 Top 10's. Been a past title contender, made the chase 5 out of 9 years.

Clearly he sucks at racing. Yes, being an Earnhardt made him popular, and I make jokes on him all the time myself, but lets not act like he can't drive a facecar and is on the same level as Paul Menard.

They'll all become Austin Dillon fans. He's a darn good driver.
