My plan is not "draft 3 QBs in the first round of the next 3 drafts" it's "Weeden isn't our future, so draft a QB in this draft with your top 5 pick. If he sucks, like a lot of you think he will, take one in '14." So enough with the misquotes and overexaggerations.

So draft a qb just for shits and gigs. Even if he isn't worthy of a top five pick? so essentially wasting a first round pick? Thats a great way to build a team. :rolleyes:

It's not for shits and gigs. You have to take a chance and hope he pans out. What good has Joe Thomas done for the Browns? How about Joe Haden? Alex Mack?

How many qbs have sucked ass through the college season, went through the combine and looked "Great" and didn't pan out? Fuck that, I want a qb that when you turn the film on from the college game, that balls out and makes plays and has the tools and you know he is a top five pick, not a product of a system qb. Not some jackass that is half way decent through the year. There are no qbs worth a top five pick.

If we had a compatent head coach we would be winning some games. Look what Harbough is doing with Alex Smith, its possible. Pat isn't helping shit.

If Weedens peak is leading an 8-8 team, the browns should keep him. That's better than normal.

Deal with shit QB play for a couple years. Develop a nasty defense, rely on the run game. Control the clock and keep the opponent out of the end zone.

I know this years qb class is weak but today I was thinking about current college QBs who I think could be a good Pro and I'm struggling to think of many.

If the "revolving door" types are consistent in how they judge, they would have cut both Mannings, and John Elway, just to name a few. And no, I'm not saying Weeden will be one of those guys, I'm saying you don't know at this point whether he can be a solid performer going forward. You do not know, you can not know.

I think the bottom line is that the Browns have made their bed, and they are going to have to sleep in it, and hope that they can develop Weeden into a solid QB.I think they wasted a pick on him, and could have had another really good player at the #20 pick. But what is done is done

I agree strongly with your first sentence, but in this age of instant gratification where the term "sample size" might as well be in a foreign language, the idea of developing a player is lost on many.

I have no problem with 'developing a player' when you have an established starter to mentor them. Usually you start with a 'kid'...you know 23, 24, 25 years old.

It doesnt matter who we have on our team as long as we keep hiring fucking horrible head coaches. How about we hire a guy who knows what the fuck he is doing so he can evaluate the talent we have and decide the biggest needs. But i doubt that will happen so well probably continue to suck no matter who we draft. HOORAY!!!!!

They don't "develop QBs" so unless you've struggled through Tim Couch, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, and Colt McCoy, you can't just use your generic QB success opinions.

Oh and using your thought up generic "process", Weeden will be 32 years old by the time he's fully developed. 32.

And conversely teams ride it out with people like Ryan Leif, Akili Smith, Derek Anderson and Gabbert. The decision sometimes takes painfully too long in cutting bait.

I don't care if they think Weeden has potential. As a fan, I've seen enough of him for the yeasr as my thread title indicates.

Sit his ass down. Let him take a peek from the sidelines. Numbers don't lie.....McCoy had a higher rating than Weeden his rookie year. I'm tired of losing every week. Are we really gonna take a knee for the rest of the season?

It's Pittsburgh week....and the Steelers come in with a 3rd string quarterback. There just is no excuse in losing to them this week.

Time to change quarterbacks...it's not like Weeden can't see the field again later....depending how McCoy does.

I brought up Henne up above. Henne's time on the bench apprears to have done him a lot of good....at least based on this past week.

I encourage everyone to look at Eli's rookie stats. 45% completion, 6 TDs, 9 Ints. 55 QB Rating.

Next season 75 QB rating. He was in the NFL 5 seasons before he had a QB rating over 80. Weeden passes the eye test for me. Colt didn't. Weeden has the tools, now he needs an OC when his head not up his own ass, and WRs who can catch the fucking ball. Weeden IMO will be fine for the browns.

Good example. Fairly similar to Elway's rookie stats. Now Eli has two rings, yet he's terrible because he's had a few subpar games. The stupidity of the short-term thinking of sports fans is amazing.

WTF you talking about...get my own opinion on things. I've had the same feelings on this subject since it came up. I've stated them over and over.
And really, really old?? lol Do you know how many QBs have played in and won Super Bowls in their mid 30's? Hell Elway didn't win his first one till he was 37. And than he won another at 38. But, he was really, really old.

Comparing weeden with other qbs who sucked in their first year or first few years is kind of dumb. There have been manyyyyyy more qbs who sucked in their first year and continued to suck throughout their career. Not saying this is how weeden will pan out but elway and Eli are exceptions not the rule.

Eli didn't have a rookie wage scale, new owner/president (and soon enough coach and gm), and he was 23 years old.

Also, he went 11-5 his second season. Unless you're tebow-bad, winning qb's don't get jettisoned.

Too many differing factors for the situation to even be comparable.

I'm not worried about Weeden's age bc most QBs play until 35/36. Hell we sign Jeff Garcia when he was 34 yrs old. We have a QB that can play more than 3 seasons (tops for the browns since the 80s) I'll be happy. I think Weeden can be that guy. HE def has the tools.
