Sounds like a fancy way of saying "small ball." New lineup, new season, same shit.

No, it's a fancy way of saying we should be a threat to score a run every inning, which we haven't been since '07.

Who cares? Next year it will be the same shit. 4-12 after three years chud will be fired along with banner and Lombardi then we will switch back to the 4-3.

I'm pleased with the offseason. Don't think we'll win the central, but you never know...

I do think we are improved enough to contend for that LAST Wild Card spot.

Last season, a game would be 5-2 after the 3rd or 4th inning, and you knew the game was over... Not so much this year. There is good speed and some good pop in the line up now.

Lineup is ridiculous, there's speed all over the place, at least in the lineup I used:

    1. Bourn
    2. Cabrera
    3. Kipnis
    4. Santana
    5. Brantley
    6. Swisher
    7. Reynolds
    8. Chisenhall
    9. Stubbs
How has no one criticized this yet? I won the WS with the Tribe on 2k11, how come we didn't at least make the playoffs that year?? I also hate this batting order. You have the lineup spread too thin. Cant let opposition walk a batter to get better matchups. Gotta string together hits to score runs.

    1.Bourn
    2. Cabrera
    3. Swisher
    4.Reynolds
    5.Santana
    6.Brantley
    7.Kipnis
    8.Chisenhall
    9.Stubbs

Nobody has criticized it because not everyone's a tool.

I didn't criticize it because I was only looking at the people in it, not necessarily the order. Sure, I'm not going to hit Swish in the 6 hole...but so what. I expect Francona to get it right.

What I like is the speed. You have 3 + guys who can steal a base.....you don't necessarily have to give up an out to advance a runner. That is huge...and I think that'll be a big boost to the offense and the ability to score runs.
Sounds like a fancy way of saying "small ball." New lineup, new season, same ****.
    not at all.

I really like the way this team is going to match up against the Tigers and their defense. If you can't outslug a team, ( and probably not outpitch them either)then you beat them by putting pressure on their doddering defense which is loaded with hitters who are average/belowaverage fielders. Speed kills, and I like what the front office has done.

Having a conversation with a friend, he thinks Brantley is the odd man out/non starter currently of our 4 OFs. Thinks Swisher, Stubbs, Bourn starts over him. I think Stubbs is the odd man out. What do you guys think?
  • ohiobucks1
I'd say stubbs is out, but if he can somehow find his swing, then he might be the steal of the year.

That is the exactly line-up my buddy and I were talking about at work last night...

While I'm not an Indians fan.....they sure are going to be fun to watch

Swisher will play 1st and Reynolds would DH.

Read an article somewhere where Francona said 1st base is probably Swisher's best position.

saw a bleacher report article that had Giambi as fulltime DH LOL

No way Stubbs starts over Brantley... Brantley is a good hitter, will get on base, and doesn't K nearly as often.

This would be some what funny if this were the browns thread. So therefore you continue to look like a tool. SMH

I will get excited about this team once they show they can actually compete with MLB teams. Right now I'm close but they have to prove it.

I'm thinking Swish will log some time at 1B, and Reynolds goes to DH. Or Swish goes to DH and Reynolds plays first. Or Swish plays RF and Brantley Dh's..... Or...lots of combos etc.

    Yep.
    Stubbs-rf
    Bourn-cf
    Brantley-lf
    Swisher-1b
    Reynolds-dh

Not sure you want Stubbs playing a corner outfield position. He's terrible at playing angles, and I can see him turning a lot of doubles into triples trying to play the corners.

That's what Francona has said will happen so let's hope he gets better lol

I think Stubbs would be OK defensively in RF. But his R/L splits are awful. I'm guessing that Stubbs will sit against righties, Swish to RF, Reynolds to 1st and a DH who hits righties well.

As per my lineup: that's not my projected lineup nor the lineup I think is best. It's the one I wanted to play with in 2k lol.

Stubbs will not start. The guy strikes out more than 3 out of 10 times. Carrera will play ahead of him. And if Carrera cant cut it, I'm going to suit up.

Brantley will play...almost every single day. If I remember correctly, he hits lefties pretty well.

Better tell Francona that considered he said Stubbs will be the RF
