So... what do the Browns do with the #1 pick next year?
-
derek bomarDo we cut Weeden? Trade down? Pick a full back? Not trying to be a troll.
-
Commander of AwesomeStud QB. If one isnt there than Stud DE/pass rushing LBer.
-
SMITTEMSLooking like Geno Smith (if Weeden doesn't pan out) or trade down for a top wr.
-
WebFireRuin yet another QB's career.
-
zach24ozTrade down to get a few more picks and still be in top 6 and get the best DE/LB. Then they can add some more DB/WRs later on. Although they need to look to FA for some OL help bc I dont think guys like Lavauo or Pinkston will/are getting it done. Put two vets in there with Mack and JT and would help bolster the line I think. Shurmur is more than likley gone anyway, so insert new Pres, coach and they'll hit FA a little to get some guys to come in and help. I'm not giving up on Weeden yet, yes he has thrown a lot of INTs and lost a couple games, but I think he could be alright with a little more OL help and 1 or 2 vet WRs to help out the young guys and he could be fine. People tend to forget than Peyton throw over 20 INTs his rookie season and wasn't too impressive so just relax a little bit. But with that said, if a new regime comes in more than likely they want to get their own QB if they don't like the future with Weeden.

BR1986FBIf Geno Smith is indeed the prized possession, trade down and get an RGIII type deal, assuming Weeden continues to improve. From there I load up on defense.
If the new regime wants nothing to do with Weeden I guess they take the best QB available (Smith or whoever). I still have my doubts that the Browns will have that #1 overall pick. -

This doesn't come as a surprise I am sure, but this is what I would do with the #1 overall pick as well. I do think the Browns will have the #1 overall pick.BR1986FB;1290425 wrote:If Geno Smith is indeed the prized possession, trade down and get an RGIII type deal, assuming Weeden continues to improve. sleeperI'm pretty sure the Browns will have the number one pick as they are the worst team in the league. I don't know if Geno Smith is the answer, but hopefully there's a lot of hype around him and people want to trade up to get him.
QB is a need. WR is a need. LINEBACKER IS A HUGE NEED. -
Commander of AwesomeIf Smith is Luck/RG3 ability, you take him.
-
BR1986FBI think the Titans may be worse than the Browns. Browns will get a few wins.
-
royal_kThe Browns aren't the worst team in the NFL. They are just playing one of the hardest schedules, so they may end up with the 1st pick. And QB is far from their biggest need. Weeden is making strides, and will be fine with more experience. But, if they do end up there, they need to trade down for more picks and draft defense. Anybody watching yesterday's game can see we need players on that side of the ball everywhere. The offense did put up 27, even with the TOs and stupid play calling.

And/or the Jags, too. They aren't even competitive right now and Gabbart is looking as bad or worst as he did last year. Browns aren't good, but teams that find a way to be competitive week-in and week-out, you'd think would wind up with a few wins at some point. There are a couple teams around that, right now, don't look like they could beat anyone.BR1986FB;1290430 wrote:I think the Titans may be worse than the Browns. Browns will get a few wins. -
BR1986FBYeah, forgot the Jags. Pretty bad.
-
raiderbuckTrade down. Get DE's Mingo or Montgomery from LSU (if they leave). Or a Manti Te'O at LB.
-
wes_mantoothI would love to trade down unless Weeden doesn't show us anything. Right now he is the lowest rated starting qb in the NFL I believe. I would be pissed if they dropped out of the top 7 though.

That first game is killing his stats across the board.wes_mantooth;1290504 wrote:I would love to trade down unless Weeden doesn't show us anything. Right now he is the lowest rated starting qb in the NFL I believe. I would be pissed if they dropped out of the top 7 though.
He is middle of the pack rating wise (an 81) without it, but with it he is last in the league because it was that bad.
His TD-Int ratio would be 1:1 instead of way upside down without it.
It happened, it can't be taken back, but he has been much better since that first week even though it will kill his QB rating for the rest of the season. -

Oh yay, without the WORST GAME EVER, our QB is middle of the pack! Strides baby, strides!IggyPride00;1290512 wrote:That first game is killing his stats across the board.

SportsAndLadyAs for the thread question, best QB available.

There's no question he's improved from the 1st game. And if he had proven, trustworthy WRs that catch the ball, his rating would be higher. QB is far from their biggest need.SportsAndLady;1290536 wrote:Oh yay, without the WORST GAME EVER, our QB is middle of the pack! Strides baby, strides! -

The QB is always the biggest need if you don't have a really good one.royal_k;1290542 wrote:There's no question he's improved from the 1st game. And if he had proven, trustworthy WRs that catch the ball, his rating would be higher. QB is far from their biggest need.
It's undoubtedly the biggest position of need in the NFL. -
vball10setLinebacker, pass rusher, wideout w/speed
-
KnightRyderdraft more qb's and running backs. ignore the fact the offensive line has been broken since 99. the browns will never win consistantly till they fix it.
-
royal_k
I agree with both of your points. But Weeden has played 5 games. He's shown considerable improvement from the 1st. If he keeps improving, which I believe he will, QB is not their biggest need.SportsAndLady;1290545 wrote:The QB is always the biggest need if you don't have a really good one.

se-alumDon't think Weeden is a good QB, but I've stated many times that I believe in building your team, and then drafting a QB when you have the other parts in place. So I would take the best WR/LB/CB available.
