Crimson streakI bet we don't make a single move by tomorrow. Knowing this front office they will some how trade for kearns

Crimson streakReed Johnson to the tigers
Edit fail on me Johnson and Mahlom to atl -
FootwedgeGood Gawd yall...look at all the Reds fans infesting our tribe thread. You'd think they've won 11 games in a row or something.
As for the tribe, sell the team to Model's boy. Cycle complete. -

Now wait just a gosh a roodie minute. Jordo thinks baseball's structure is all just peachy.....and that smart teams never have to trade their star players for economic reasons.hoops23;1237424 wrote:If they trade Choo, I'm done with baseball.
I think it was Jimmy Kimmel who said it best..."Do we really need to play 162 games to prove the Yankees bought the best team?" -
Crimson streakI would really like to make a move for pence. Then trade choo for marte. And maybe swing a trade for Vargas

Never happen...pence should have been here last year, except that we have fucking morons running things. I would love to see choo go to the pirates though -

hey, austin kearns got us McAllister. so maybe we can trade for kearns back and then deal him in the off season and see if we get lucky again haha.Crimson streak;1237489 wrote:I bet we don't make a single move by tomorrow. Knowing this front office they will some how trade for kearns -

and from reading the article, it seems like they will hold off on moves this year. but next year, if they have a similar season, will be the year they get rid of everyone. It is highly doubtful that designated hitter Travis Hafner or center fielder Grady Sizemore will be back next season -

Send us that guy who has a 1000 stolen bases for you guys in the minors. We need another Willie Mays Hayes. :rolleyes:se-alum;1237223 wrote:Lol...well no doubt. Let's just say these guys are untouchable:

I can see why. From what I've read, the Indians would have to be overwhelmed to trade Choo and Pittsburgh has enough good prospects to overwhelm a team. However, I highly doubt they'll overpay for 1+ years of Choo. Huntington likes to be on the "getting a steal" side of things more than the "I'LL PAY ANYTHING...AAAANNNNYYYYTTTTHHHIIIIINNNGGGGG!!!!!!" side.wes_mantooth;1237611 wrote:I would love to see choo go to the pirates though -

Yeah, it would be an "all in" move for the pirates. Choo would be a good addition -

Yeah, I agree, but don't think they're looking for an "all in" move just because of how most of their truly key guys are locked up for a few years and I think that with their high-rated prospects, they're looking to be more of a perennial contender as opposed to mortgaging the future just for this year.wes_mantooth;1237737 wrote:Yeah, it would be an "all in" move for the pirates. Like, they got Wandy from the Astros for three prospects with the best being #8 in the organization according to (I think) Baseball America. And last night, they got a young outfielder from Toronto for a reliever (who can start, too) who's been great this year, but nothing special beforehand. That move, in a way, reminds me of the Phillips trade by Cleveland in that the Toronto guy was at one time their top prospect, but fell in their eyes in part due to Cito Gaston and him having different opinions about his plate mindset (Gaston wanted him to pull the ball; he likes to use the whole field). Obviously not a "sure thing" pick-up like Choo would have been, but also a lot cheaper and less damaging to future plans to pick him up. Toronto bloggers seem upset about the move, too, as it seems they feel he could be a .260+ guy with 25-35 HR production as an everyday player. Which is Hall of Fame material IN COMPARISON to what they've been getting from outfielders not named McCutchen. -
stlouiedipalmaI believe the trade deadline will pass without any moves from the Tribe. No fire sale, but no improvements either. Manny will sink or swim with the hand he has.
What a shame. I was planning on a weekend trip to Kansas City in late September to see the Tribe. Looks like they will be long out of it by then, so maybe I put that money to better use and go see the Ryder Cup in Chicago. Freakin' Dolan!! -
Crimson streakI'm so glad we got helped out our starting pitching and the glaring right handed bat that we needed...
-
Crimson streakWait the tribe acquired Lars Anderson from the redsox lol. I lefty first baseman that's a career aaaa guy. Great move! He's going to take us to the next level

HitsRusFor a team in a "window of opportunity"...there does not be any sense of urgency. Obviously, no deal is better than a bad deal ( see Ubaldo for Drew and Alex)...still I thought that maybe there was a good one out there to be pulled off. At this point in the season, you have to trade something of value in order to get value...that was not the case in the winter when teams can sign free agents. Frankly, the team could have strengthened itself considerably by just going out and getting a right handed power bat, when the only thing it would have cost was some of the owner's money.
I mean, isn't that the owner's job to make sure the team has what it needs when the club is in a 'window of opportunity'? I understand that over the long haul, a team needs to be in the black...or at least in the red within the owner's tolerance for loss. It just seems inexcusable to know what the team's needs are and not address them...not in the short term...and not even in the long term. Essentially, we have gone a whole season, and NOTHING has been done to address the glaring hole.
SMFH. -
Con_AlmaHitrus...I think you addressed your concern. Giving up value for a RH stick that wouldn't have strengthened you enough to make you a WS caliber team would have been silly. If a RH stick can be acquired in the off-season for cash without losing value it's a better move.
I understand the frustration with not acquiring one last winter or next winner. It would have been a bad move going after one now as a trade,
