Indians vs. Royals : At the trade deadline

  • HitsRus
I'm going to start this thread and see if we can shake things up and get a spark of life.....

The Chicago White Sox have added Liriano, and despite their loss yesterday hold a 5 1/2 game lead over our Tribe.

Swept by the lowly Twins, the Indians have fallen 2 games below .500......its worst record since mid -April, and the farthest it has been out of first all year. The season hangs by a thread. The front office has known the team's weaknesses for quite a while but has done nothing (significant) to upgrade....now the trade deadline looms. The past series may well have been the tipping point....will the front office pull the plug on the season...and who will be dealt? Rumours surround Choo, Masterson...and to a lesser extent, Perez.
Seems doubtful now that 'help' is on the way to keep us in the race.

    Tick, tick, tick....

Talking about it on the Really Big Show with Rizzo this morning, but does anyone in America have a harder job than Bobby Dibiasio?

He is constantly put out there to defend the turds the Dolan's shit on the fans with, and that has to get so old. He seems like a really nice guy, but he has to know that he is bullshitting the fans when he lies to them about the state of the Indians.

    Can Dolan trade himself?

He'd probably trade himself to the Knicks for the other Dolan. Then we would spend like a drunken sailor on horrible shit and still suck ass

They have already said their excuse for not buying is the market is crowded thanks to the second Wild Card. They have a fucking excuse for everything. I wanted to go to another game this year, yet am more inclined to go enjoy PNC Park because at least they're fucking trying. I don't even like the Pirates! It says a lot when someone would rather give their money to the Nutting family.

It won't let me post pics for some reason but I found shapiros tweet of the reason they didn't sign willingham.
It said" willingham's bat a perfect fit, but defensive fit was not good" lmao seriously? But we throw Damon and Duncan out there in left

I've wanted the Reds to get Choo for a long time. That would be awesome.
  • shook_17
honestly who fucking cares anymore. dolan is a piece of shit, they should have made a move back in june while we were still in first. but he gets what he wants, not having to pay a high salary via trade. this team will continue to suck until new ownership takes over.

    dolan, go fuck yourself.

    Acta's gotta' go....period.

So, Indian fans, who would you like to get if a Choo trade to the Reds happened?

Anyone playing a significant role on this year's team won't be moved. I could see them discussing Heisey or Stubbs. I also think a reliever could be discussed. No doubt the deal would surround a minor league arm (Lotzkar or Corcino) + an outfielder (Heisey or Stubbs) and maybe another 2 prospects.

It would be a gamble but I could also see the Reds including Cozart in a deal as well, especially if a deal brings them a #1 or #2 hitter in-return. Valdez isn't an everyday SS but it's possible another deal could go down to bring in a short-term SS solution for the rest of 2012 (and maybe 2013) until Hamilton is ready.

I'd be shocked if Hamilton ever played SS in the majors. He has 28 errors this year. I think Ondrusek, Arrendondo, Heisey, and Stubbs could all be available. I think Gregorius would be available in more of a blockbuster deal. It's really hard to tell what young pitchers the Reds would part with.

CF or SS. Both are weaknesses, so depending on who the team is higher on (Cozart or Stubbs), that may be where Hamilton goes. It seems that many feel his defense, no matter where it is, will never be elite. However, his other tools can make up for it with range and athleticism.

I think Hamilton's hitting is going to be much more of an issue. I see a lot of Drew Stubbs in him, although he's a far better bunter and baserunner. He still struggles to walk and get on base, which can nullify the greatest speed in the universe.

IMO, I'd deal Hamilton if the Reds got a blockbuster deal lined up. It seems that the organization is so intrigued by him that they won't consider it. They protected him heavily when discussing a deal this winter for a pitcher and his performance in A/AA this year hasn't done anything to make them question that notion.

you have any decent pitching prospects in the minors?

Hamilton has an OBP of .418 this year, and his strikeout to walk ratio is very respectable. Hamilton struggled the beginning of last year in A ball, but has been raking ever since. I see zero similarities between Hamilton and Stubbs. I think Gregorius would be the choice at SS if Cozart went in a deal.
dazedconfused;1237286 wrote:you have any decent pitching prospects in the minors?

Yea, but they're young. Corcino, Cingrani, Sulbaran, Joseph, and Lotzkar are the top pitching prospects. Stephenson is in there, but he was this years first round pick, so he's not going anywhere. Joseph is the only one at AAA.

I would think the Tribe would be interested in Corcino plus a position player prospect. ...probably a corner player with power. Soto? but I hear he's not having a very good year.

One thing I do hope is that the Tribe could play the Buccos off the Reds and get a couple of really good prospects....not get taken like they did in the Lee trade.

A top 5, AA or better prospect.

I imagine Soto is definitely on the market, as he'll never be on the Reds major league roster. He's been down a little this year, but he's young, and this is his first year at AAA. He's still ranked as the 4th best 1st basemen in the minors. Kid has big time power.

If they trade Choo, I'm done with baseball.
  • HitsRus
I don't see anywhere that the Reds are actually interested in Choo....only the Rangers and the Bucs.

im fine if they trade him but don't just trade him to trade him (like they did with lee). get a good package for him at least
