Tigers at the Tribe

Ubaldo starting to come around....the guy just has to kick back and throw...trust his stuff. I'm thinking he has just been tentative coming back from that injury. At least we are seeing some improvement and flashes of what he might be.

I agree. His stuff seems OK. Command is the issue. You can't leave 84 MPH changeups over the heart of the plate and live to tell about it.

He needs to ditch the splitter that's what gets him in trouble. He can't command that pitch at all

Great to get that first one. Ubaldo really did a good job of settling down after the HR. He kept us in it long enough for us to get to Porcello, which is all I ask for. I agree with Manny that this team hasn't started playing their best ball yet. Hopefully the best is the yet to come.

    Go Tribe!

I went to the game. I was honestly surprised it was that much. I was thinking closer to 10k. Upper decks were unbelievably sparse.

Great game. One slip-up away from a shutout.

Hopefully Masterson can get back on track. He's a key to this team if they want to make a playoff push

ROFL Ally Laforce and Joe Smith

    http://morningjournal.com/articles/2012/05/23/news/mj6245661.txt
VERMILION — A Put-in-Bay police report that stated Cleveland Indians pitcher Joe Smith was involved in an altercation at a Put-in-Bay bar this weekend is wrong, said the mother of WJW Fox 8 sportscaster Allie LaForce, who was with Smith, along with other LaForce family members.

Lesa LaForce said she, her daughter and son and Smith went to the island for a get away and when they went to a bar, Smith didn’t have his identification with him, so he went to the boat to get it and returned.

LaForce, of Vermilion, said Smith never mentioned he is a Cleveland Indians player in order to get past a bouncer.

“Joe would never say anything about being an Indians player,” LaForce said. “It got out of hand.”

Once they were inside the bar, someone called Smith a name and her son stepped in to break up a verbal exchange. No punches were thrown, LaForce said.

“It was a nice get away,” she said of the Sunday trip. There was about 30 people inside the bar at the time and it was enjoyable until the argument.

The report also said LaForce attempted to hand officers “a wad of $100’s” but she denied that. “They think that was me and it wasn’t,” she said.

Since the release of the police report, LaForce has contacted the police department about errors she said are in the report.

“They are aware of the inaccuracies and adjustments will be made,” she said. The officer who she spoke with, who also responded to the incident, was apologetic about the mistakes, saying it would be corrected, LaForce said.

    I like this one better.
The alleged incident happened at the Roundhouse bar on Catawba Avenue at about midnight.
According to the report, Joe Smith tried to enter the bar without identification – and when bar security questioned his age, Smith told them he was a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians.
Bar security did not accept that answer, and one of the people with Smith told police “Roundhouse security became rude and disrespectful.”
It was at this point in Smith’s explanation of events to police that the officer remarked in the report that “Mr. Smith became upset with me because I did already not know who he was.”
The report then said that the pitcher’s girlfriend leaned forward and stated, “He’s a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians!”
Smith told officers that a bar security member called him a name before removing him from the property, and then someone else tried to fight with Smith.
Officers then told Smith and his friend -- both of whom had been placed in handcuffs -- that no charges or citations would be issued.
But before they left, the police report stated that the mother of Smith’s friend “held out a large folded stack of $100 bills to Ofc. Williams and said ‘Can you guys take a tip?’”
The officer explained to the woman that “we would not be taking any gratuities,” according to the report.

He needs to get over his little one inning mental lapses that can cost the tribe a game. Luckily these guys never give up (except Manny Acta of course). If he remains focused for an entire game, Ubaldo will be tough to handle.

This would be huge, along with players in the lineup playing to their potential (i.e. Choo).

Choo is hitting like .274 I think with around a .400 OBP. Power is down, but that is really, really solid for leadoff man.

Choo has been raking since being moved to the lead-off spot. .487 OBP with a .606 SLG% is incredible. Obviously he won't be able to sustain that, but if he can even keep his OBP at .387 it'd be huge for this team.
  • hoops23
Choo has gotten better in the lead off spot because he's taking what the pitcher is giving him. I think at the 3 spot he was putting too much pressure on himself to drive the ball.

Great hustle play by Damon in left backing up Brantley. Keep Bosch to a double instead of a triple. Would have scored on a ground out the next hitter. Won't show up in the boxscore but really a big play early in this one.

What is Pronk now, 2 for his last 24 ab's??

Quick third inning for The Tribe.
