Nats hang on and win 4-1, improving their lead to 7, and to a ML best 76 wins. This is a fun team to watch.
Nats are 10-4 against the Braves.

The Nats may be doing the rest of the majors a favor by shutting him down.

    Significant duh

If they win tomorrow they should put Strasburg on the dl. Give him 2-3 starts before the playoffs. The max innings I see him going is 185-190

Fatolo (Bartolo) Colon (A's) suspended 50 games for PED's...

Just saw today that Derek Jeter, at age 38, is leading the majors in hits this season so far with 168 (more than he had all last season).

Skip Bayless went so far today on first take as to wonder allowed whether the Captain could be on some performance enhancing drugs in the light of Victor Konte's recent claim he thinks at least 50% of mlbers are juicing right now.

I would hate to think he is juicing, but frankly I have never seen an athlete have a late career turn around the likes of what Jeter has done the past year and a half.

In 2010 he hit .270, and was God awful the first half of 2011 (hitting like .256 at the all-star break), and then from the second half on last year and this he has played like he is 24 again. He looked done for a few years there, and now it is like he has found the fountain of youth at a time when guys are usually finished.

More power to him for finding a way to turn it around at 37 last year after a disasterous year and a half of play, but in this climate where guys are starting to test positive and rumors of rampant use are flying around it is just getting hard not to wonder.

I really hope not. He's a very standup guy and has been one of the few ago have stayed out of any trouble for a whole career.

I totally agree. Watching the segment with Skip and Stephen A. did make me think about it if only because of the idea that you don't see this type of turn around late in a players career usually unless you were getting the kind of help that Bonds/Clemens did when they were playing at an MVP level in their very late 30's.

I think Jeter is one of the clean ones, but I am not sure at this point there is anyone that would surprise me as testing positive. After Manny was revealed a cheater (thought he was just one of those naturals that rolled out of bed able to mash a baseball) that was it for me. I'd be disappointed if Jeter was ever found roiding, but not surprised.

Let's do this...Jeter in the biggest most scrutinized market and in his 17 years he's pristine. Nothin....he's obtained rings galore and over 3250 hits, 1800 runs.....the risk is so not worth the reward. Little to gain....entire career to lose.

He's gonna hit 5 homers. Book it!!!

Adam Dunn in 355 chances has zero errors this year. Only 4 in over 600 chances as a White Sox player.

50 games started at first since his last error.

What is the deal now on human growth hormone, which sounds like would neutralize the effects of aging? Is it illegal on the MLB drug policy, but yet can't be detected with tests allowed in the players agreement with the owners?

Take this FWIW but just heard a rumor (for Tigers fans) that either Verlander or Prince Fielder tested positive for PED's. Skeptical whether anything comes of it but we'll have to wait & see....
  • Azubuike24
Given both of their contracts, that would be incredibly dumb...

I wonder if either have a stipulation to have it voided if they do? That goes for any player actually...

It would be dumb but it sounds like there have been 8 or 9 people on Twitter talking about this. The guy who called the Melky Cabrera and Bartolo Colon suspensions about 2 weeks ago is all over this.

Why do pitchers throw at batters heads? Hit him in the back. No need to kill someone, just give them a bruise.

Dodgers claimed Adrian gonzalez off waivers today. Holy shit they are loaded

And they're still 3 back in the division and not even 10 games over .500

Ellsbury, Lester and Beckett are all on waivers too. Why not just sell everyone, stupid Lucchino fuck.

Can they just give the reds ellsbury. Just to be nice?? Please and thank you.

Ellsbury and Lackey and you got yourself a deal. I hate that fat fuck.
  • Crimson streak
If the indians were smart and actually cared about competing next year to go after Lester or ellsbury. Ellsbury is the before injury Grady Sizemore.
  • IggyPride00
    Dodgers claim Beckett and Gonzalez.

Not sure Boston will deal both, but good lord is LA throwing money around.

They must not care about turning a profit, because they spent about a billion extra just to get the team and have been adding payroll anywhere they can.

This is like the opposite of Dolan mode, where you pay too much for the team then have to go into a turtle shell financially because of it. The Dodgers pay too much for the team and then just start taking on massive payroll all over the place (if they can work out deals for Beckett/Gonzalez).
  • Azubuike24
Ellsbury does have his own injury concerns...even though I'd still take him.
  • gorocks99
Not just Beckett and Gonzalez, but Crawford too might be headed to LA: http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/8300112/adrian-gonzalez-carl-crawford-josh-beckett-nearing-boston-red-sox-exit-sources-say

hat is an insane amount of contract to pick up for LA.
