Blue Jackets looking to trade Rick Nash?

  • chicago510
I still say wait and try to flip him this summer for a better price. Don't want to seem desperate. Also goalies are more likely to move in the summer.

LeBrun just said Cbus and SJ stayed in talks but Cbus wouldn't budge on Couture, so no deal.

He will be gone in the summer though

    Now we have a lameduckcaptain

Yep, agreed. You can't have him stick around after all this. But I actually agree w/ Howson here, the Jackets have a lot of leverage because they don't have to trade him immediately and can wait to accept the best offer for them.

This. The only thing worse than trading Nash is accepting some lowball offer. He is under contract, so maximize your returns.

You can't trade someone of Nash's caliber for the wrong price, especially when you hold all of the cards/leverage. What I hope the CBJ do is fire Priest/Howson in the offseason then just keep Nash to go along with the new draft picks and such. That way the new regime could play the "well WE didn't try to trade you, we want you to stay" card and all is fine and dandy.

Why did Howson come out today and say that Nash requested the trade? Not helping smooth things over at all.

I would bet anything that Nash will not be a CBJ in October 2012.

Good. I'm personally tired of Nash. He's such a pussy. Doesn't play hard. Hate his attitude. When he first came to the cbj he was picked in like he was every teams bitch because he never stuck up for himself. I've just grown so tired of Nash. And after watching how hard he played in the Olympics, it only made it worse. BUT I am glad they didn't accept a shitty deal for him.

lol best player on a team that has shitty management and can't bring in good players to make a decent team - I'd ask for an out too.

They might be one of the worst drafting teams in the NHL, if not THE worst considering how high they pick in the draft every year.

The Blue Jackets are on track to finish the season with 55 points (23-50-9 at current pace). That would be the lowest point total by a team since the 2001/2002 Atlanta Thrashers finished 19-47-11-5 (pre-shootout, so that includes ties and OTL).

The Jackets have a bad track record in the draft, but considering where their picks have ended up, it hasn't exactly been a slam dunk. They have really never seemed to hit the draft lottery right, and when they have had their best picks, they have really blown the picks.

    COLUMBUS
    2003 - 3rd best odds, got 4th pick (Zherdev)
    2004 - 4th best odds, got 8th pick (Picard)
2005 - 4th best odds, got 6th pick, lockout lottery (Brule)
    2006 - 5th best odds, got 6th pick (Brassard)
    2007 - 7th best odds, got 7th pick (Voracek)
    2008 - 6th best odds, got 6th pick (Filatov)
    2010 - 4th best odds, got 4th pick (Johansen)

One thing that has failed this organization is they tried to build the franchise around a winger. Calgary is the exception b/c lets face it, Iginla is one of the best RW's in history.
