Nice! C-bus Bluejackets big win is mentioned today on Sportscenter. That 8 seconds is the most national coverage they've had in quite a while.

Vermette traded to Phoenix for a pair of draft picks (2nd, 5th) and a minor league goalie.

Meh. But Vermette's cap hit of 3.75 million for 3 more years is definitely too high for his production.

I think you have to take anyone's production in columbus with a grain of salt.

Absolutely, but if a guy isn't producing here, keeping him here doesn't solve the problem. The jackets have way too many guys signed to undeserving contract extensions (Verm, Brass, Mason, etc.)

I would agree, although the CBJ "management" needs to look at it in the context of current production. As such, they got a good deal here, without regard to what Vermette does or doesn't do in Phoenix.

Seems like they're trying to load up on draft picks and clear up some cap space...i'm 50/50 on Nash staying. I could see them keeping him and rebuilding with what they can get for the guys you've listed. Really looking forward to the 27th to see if anything big happens. Also, haven't read any comments on Ranger fans actually wanting Nash.

No Nash, but Carter to LAK for Jack Johnson (US olympian), and a 1st rounder.

So the CBJ essentially traded Voracek and a high 1st rounder for Jack Johnson and a mid-low 1st rounder.

Not bad....the CBJ also shed Carter's unbelievable contract.

Fucking A Howson did something right.

    I'm saying Kings.

Holy shit. That's a great trade! Jackets can make the first rounder 2013 if the Kings make the playoffs this year.

They also gave up Couturier when they traded that 1st.

Ever since I became a mod over on HFboards, these past couple of days have been an absolute shit storm lol.

Latest rumor from the Rangers for Nash is Dubinsky, Christian Thomas, Dylan McIlrath, and a 1st rounder. Also, sounds like the Sharks will make a push.

If i were Cbus i'd want Dubinsky, Del Zotto or McDonagh and a first round pick. I'd rather get 2 roster players than 1 roster player and 2 prospects. Dubinsky is a middle of the road player IMO.

Just saw this from Pierre LeBrun on ESPN

"A source told me late Thursday night that the Kings in fact made a huge offer at one point in the process for both Rick Nash and Jeff Carter. Can you imagine? But the Kings eventually dropped out of the Nash talks (he likely wasn’t going to accept a deal to go to L.A.) and focused on Carter only. The feeling in the Kings front office was that Carter’s lower cap hit -- $5.27 million compared to $7.8 million for Nash -- would allow them greater flexibility when it comes time to re-sign star goalie Jonathan Quick. His deal runs out after next season and he’ll command a huge raise over his current $1.8 million salary."

Can only imagine what that deal would've been

Rumors of Nash to the Preds for 2 prospects and a first rounder. That would be mighty interesting...
  • gorocks99
Two prospects and a first rounder? Sounds like a shit trade to me.

won't happen, preds just traded for Kostitsyn

Everything's pointing to Nash staying put today, with the Rangers supposedly dropping out of the race. Unless some team comes up with a big "wow" I expect he'll be in a Jackets sweater through at least the end of this season.

    From Portzline:
Situation behind the scenes between #CBJ and Rick Nash has turned frantic, as suitors are making late push for #CBJ captain.

I don't see it happening in the next 20 minutes unless a team calls Howson and says "name your price"

Trading just Carter, Pahlsson and Vermette is kind of a "rebuilding" fail...
