NBA Players that surprised you

  • Ironman92
either for the good or the bad

    Better than I expected:

Rajon Rondo...hell of a player, never saw it coming

Zach Randolph....never figured he'd develop and commit

    Deron Williams

Dwayne Wade....I expected him to be a solid starter, not a perennial all-star and more

    Chauncey Billups....really underestimated him!

Russell Westbrook.....a notch or two better than I thought he'd be

Mike Dunleavy....wasn't sure he'd crack 1,000 career points

    Josh McRoberts....wasn't sure he'd ever be above a #11 or #12 guy

Not as good as I expected:

    Chris Douglas Roberts

    Adam Morrison

Top two of the top of my head are Kevin Love and Rondo.

I agree with Deron and Rondo.

Also actually thought Oden would be the better player than Durant.
  • Ironman92
Yeah....Love was on my list....but forgot to list him

Agree on CDR, I thought he'd be a decent player as well.

I actually thought Rondo was a steal, I got see him play quite a bit in college esp in the UC UK tournament game where he stood out.

    I'll be honest....

Bron isn't as good as I thought he would be.

    Hansbrough is another.

He was excellent in college....just didn't see him doing near what he is.

    Good or bad?

He is close to what I guessed.

John Amechi. I would have thought he would have gone stronger to the hole.

I didn't think Kevin Love was going to be a starter, much less dropping 30/20 a game. I thought he'd be a solid role player, a guy that could get you 10/10 on a given night.

    I really like his game.

I wasn't sure if Oden would be better than KD, but I figured he'd be a beast. He's played well when healthy, but injuries just keep piling on.

A lot of people thought Hansbrough would struggle at this level, not sure why that's a fail.

    Weak

Not sure if thedynasty sees him as better or worse than expected

I really thought he would struggle. I didn't think he would be able to match the athleticism of the NBA. He's much more productive than I would have thought.

Impressed with Tristan Thompson so far.
  • jordo212000
    Kevin Love
    Russell Westbrook
    Kevin Martin
(you guys already named most of mine)
    Marc Gasol

    The bad
    Adam Morrison
    Greg Oden
OJ Mayo (not a bad player, just not as good as I thought he'd be)
DeMarcus Cousins (very early. But he is the headcase he was advertised to be)

Who and why? No one thought he'd be a superstar, but no one thought he'd be a bust. In fact most recalled him as one of the safest picks in the draft, the biggest question was whether he could be a starter on a good team or not. Nice fail on sticking up for your friend though.

He can finish with both hands though

Carolina haters thought he would suck.

I thought he would be just about what he is.
  • Commander of Awesome
I'll go negative and say Luke Jackson, I didn't expect him to be out of the league so fast.

Exactly, hence why it was a lolfail.
  • Ironman92
I hate Carolina but figured he'd give a team some points and decent rebounds as a #6-#8 player

Also what I guessed of Kevin Love
