Cleveland Cavaliers 11-12 season thread

Haven't seen much of Melo this year. I know he looked completely lost last year as a freshman, but is supposed to be a very good athlete for his size.dave;1055717 wrote:Don't think I'd really want any of those guys. Mayo would probably be the next Larry Hughes.
If the Cavs don't get a top 5 pick what does everyone think about Fab Melo? He's been under the radar so far.
nbadraft.net has the Cavs taking Meyers Leonard at #14 in round 1. He could be an intriguing pick, thought he played very well against OSU this year.
The guys I listed (outside of possibly Mayo) aren't franchise changers, but I think they each could fill a role that the Cavs are currently missing. There are some other unrestricted and restricted free agents out there that would be more attractive, but are less likely. Another name that I have come across is Wilson Chandler. He will be able to sign an NBA contract in a couple months after fulfilling his commitment to his Chinese Club. He will be a RFA of the Denver Nuggets. With Gallinari becoming a RFA after this season, and their large contracts to Nene and Afflalo I would think they will have to choose between Galo and Chandler. -
Commander of AwesomeChandler is a guy that I've liked since coming out of college. Would really like it if he were available and the Cavs were able to get him.
-
Commander of AwesomeListening to Pluto's Podcast, he thinks Jamison stays this season. Doesn't think we'll be able to trade him and get enough back to work under the cap restrictions with a trade. Also doesn't think if he leaves we'll have anyone besides Irving to score.
I agree with him on that, you can't trade him and take on another bad contract just for the sake of trading the guy. -
WooballI agree about Jamison. I can't see a contending team wanting him, and why would a losing team make a trade for him? Maybe someone gets desperate with some untimely injuries, but I'd expect to see Antawn in a Cavs uniform for the rest of the season. And as much as I don't like watching him play, he is giving the team a scoring option. Not a very efficient one, but he is putting the ball in the hoop. I don't think Tristan is ready to take on the role of a scorer yet, or if he will ever really be that type of player.
I would like to see Chandler as a Cav. He is long, defends, blocks shots and has scored 13-17ppg the last 3 seasons. Some of those numbers probably came from playing in Dantoni's system, but playing along side a very good PG would help his numbers out also. -
MulvaI'd like Nic Batum a lot in the right situation, but none of those other guys. We'd still need to add a big time scorer on the wing in my opinion, but he'd be a great 3rd option.
Fields has regressed. From all reports and from what I've seen he's been pretty much terrible since the Carmelo trade. Ilyasova just sucks. And we need starting-caliber post players, not another guy to fight for the 10th spot in the rotation, so I'd say no to Mahinmi as well. -

Batum is a guy I would take. He definitely has a role on a winning team. I think he could be doing more than what Portland is asking him to do.Mulva;1055812 wrote:I'd like Nic Batum a lot in the right situation, but none of those other guys. I like Mahinmi. I think he can be a rotation big. I think you could do a lot worse than pairing him and Anderson as your center. I'd love to get a guy like Drummond or Davis in the draft, but if the Cavs keep playing this hard all season they are going to have to get very lucky to get a top 3 pick to draft one of those guys. Just looking at other options to improve the Center position w/ guys that aren't on downside of their careers (like Kaman and Camby who will both also be UFA's). -
Commander of AwesomeHow long until BSPN picks up on Irving being pretty good, and starts their campaign for him leaving Cleveland?
"Soo the Cavs are in NY tonight, and this could be one of a few places that sources close to Kyrie Irving say he may go to in 6 years" -

It will happen after his first playoff run, no doubt. BSPN has no integrity.Commander of Awesome;1055926 wrote:How long until BSPN picks up on Irving being pretty good, and starts their campaign for him leaving Cleveland?

IF Kyrie does turn into a superstar though, and he leaves, I think i will quit watching the NBA. I already hate what the NBA is becomming. Luckily it's refreshing to see these young guys go out and play. -

I think Irving leaves Cleveland whenever he can grab a maximum contract from another team. If that's still 6 years, and he turns into a superstar, he's gone. That gives us roughly a 4-5 year window to win a championship. That's why I'm hoping the Cavs suck this year so we can get a solid wingman in the upcoming draft.like_that;1055943 wrote:It will happen after his first playoff run, no doubt. BSPN has no integrity.

Skyhook79Lets just hope when/if he leaves in 2016 he doesn't do it with a 1hr special on espn. No one wants to see that again.

KR1245I like Chandler but I'm also a big fan of Gallinari. I think he could be a nice fit with Kyrie,he's a sharpshooter and could really help spread the floor. I'm not sure about his defense but he's putting up 17 and 5 this year.
-
MulvaGallo is probably my favorite player. I really don't see the Nuggets letting him go anywhere though.
-
KR1245
I would agree but they definitely have some decisions to make, they just gave Aff and Nene a bunch of cash and they need to figure out if they wanna pay Chandler, Gallinari and I think Ty Lawson.Mulva;1056168 wrote:Gallo is probably my favorite player. MulvaThey'll let Chandler walk way before Gallo. He was the key piece from NYK in getting the Carmelo trade done, and he's leading them in scoring this year.
Erden has 10 first half points tonight, but Cavs are currently down 3. -
KR1245Cavs lose but Kyrie has another solid game with 18,8 and 5
-
september63To many TO's. 6 TO's with 5 Assists is NOT a good game.
-
daveHe's got to stop being so cute at times and just make a crisp pass. That will come though.
-
MulvaSloppy game. Way too many turnovers. Got abused by Lee in the 4th. The bench was horrible tonight outside of Erden.
Tough stretch coming up here to end the month. Season will be about 1/3 done by the time we hit February, so these next 7 games should tell a lot about whether the Cavs are going to hang around that 7/8 seed for the long haul. -

Yeah, I don't think they will. Would be nice to hang around, but I just don't think the talent is there yet.Mulva;1056373 wrote:Sloppy game. Way too many turnovers. Got abused by Lee in the 4th. The bench was horrible tonight outside of Erden.

Take it FWIW -
Skyhook7913056 in attendance tonight. Those are getting close to Detroit #'s. Don't understand why with a good young player like Irving.
