Braves with McCann. I'd say Wieters with Baltimore is getting there too.

Chris Antonetti on a possible trade the # Indians are involved in: "one would be very surprising if we were able to get it done" # MLB

Antonetti: "I'm pretty sure I could give you 50 guesses, and you probably wouldn't get it." - so let the guessing game begin! # Indians

Twins (Mauer), Nats and Blue Jays if Ramos/Arencibia progresses after rookie year.

Catchers with a higher WAR in 2011 then Santana (according to fangraphs):
    Alex Avila; Detroit
    Matt Wieters; Baltimore
    Miguel Montero; Arizona
    Yadier Molina; St. Louis

Damn, always forget about Molina, and Montero has been awesome since he was inserted as the starter middle of 2010.

    Austin kearns?

I'm actually hoping for cj Wilson. That would make this pitching very very good. Maybe even Hanley? I can wish cant I? ;)

I'm smelling a deal with the Marlins contingent on Pujols signing. Just a guess but Gaby Sanchez has to go somewhere. Another Marlin without a position is 3B prospect Matt Dominguez. Both are RH hitters. Marlins need some pitching....but they don't need a closer. Fausto and a bullpen guy?

Another thought is a deal with the Padres for 1Bman Blanks... the Padres have a hot prospect in Anthony Rizzo they need to make room for. They need bullpen help and middle infield help. the Tribe hads tradeable depth at both....Jason Donald/ Cord Phelps...and a guy from the pen.
  • OQB
I'm putting no stock into this "report" on a big signing until it is a done deal.....nothing like a gm talking his offseason moves up, see Heckert and Usama Young.
  • HitsRus
^^^agree with that. GMs blow smoke to disguise their position all the time.. Fun to speculate though.
  • Laley23
Ugh, that will suck if we got Kyle Blanks. Tremendous power. But he has sucked big time in his stints with the Padres. A team DESPERATE for offense, and he can never stay at the ML level with them.
  • HitsRus
Well , it looks like the Marlins have picked up Mark Buerhle and passed on Pujhols....so much for Sanchez being available,
  • grodt
Pujols to the Angels could make Mark Trumbo or Kendry Morales available at 1B

    Are they RH bats?
  • grodt
    Trumbo is. Morales is switch
  • Laley23
Morales no thanks with the injuries. Trumbo? Yes please. He had like 25+ HRs from the right side as a rookie right?
  • grodt
Trumbo last year: 29 HR 94 RBI .254/.291/.477 in 149 games
  • grodt
I'd like Trumbo too but I can see the Angels demanding a ransom for him. Morales is more like the kind of player the Indians usually pursue. He's coming off of injury so there is some risk but probably cheaper (in this case in terms of traded players) and has a pretty good upside. Again Trumbo would be nice but I see Morales being more available.
  • Wooball
As others have stated from Twitter reports, the Angels may not tender a contract to Morales. If I was in the Tribe's situation, I'd take a serious look at Morales. I'm sure he would be willing to take a 1 year deal. If he makes a full comeback and has a good year, the Tribe probably wouldn't be able to sign him the following year, maybe they could work in a team option for 2013.

Morales is worth a shot for me.

    2009- .306 34 HR 108 RBI and 43 doubles. Played 152 games.
2010- .290 11 HR 39 RBI in 51 games. On base to be around .300, 33 HR and 117 RBIs if he played the same amount of games. He tore his ACL on a freak accident while celebrating a walk off. Was scheduled to return early last season but had a set back and another surgery and missed the whole season. Those numbers make me willing to take a chance on him. He is 28 years old.

Trumbo will be 26 next month. Finished 2nd in ROY voting last year. Grodt posted his numbers above. I don't see why the Angels would get rid of him. Especially since Pujols is better suited to DH long-term. Would love to have him but the asking price is going to be very high.

What would we do with Hanley? Move our GG SS (yeah, he got robbed) back to second. Have Kipnis move to 3rd? Hanley is getting traded cause he wont play 3rd....where is he gonna play for us?

Agree, I think that he is not injury prone, just one bad tear.
