Cleveland Indians Hot Stove---2011-2012

BR1986FBHave no issue with them bringing back the China Doll (Sizemore) on the cheap but this "aggressive" offer I'm hearing they made makes me think they did something stupid again.
-
like_thatStrikemore must feel bad for stealing all that money while sucking ass the past 4 years.
-
HitsRussome things to consider...
-There are very few center field options out there (Coco Crisp?) and they would be expensive.
-A lot of teams would be willing to pay Sizemore on his potential alone....there is no reason to think that a healthy Grady would not be be a better than average productive player.
- The Indians need to be aggressive here if they expect to retain Sizemore. The longer time goes on the more other teams may be willing to offer more.
I'd like to see the Tribe try to get an option year also, so that if Grady returns to form, the team can keep him at least for another year. -
dazedconfusedis grady moving to left? no way he holds up playing the entire year in center

Maybe he will be dh when Hafner gets hurt....and hafner will do the same when grady goes down. -
BR1986FB
Which we all KNOW will happen.wes_mantooth;979170 wrote:Maybe he will be dh when Hafner gets hurt....and hafner will do the same when grady goes down. -
Laley23Platoon at DH, I like it. Only the Tribe could pull that off, smh.
-
MulvaHaha the lefty/lefty DH platoon. A classic.

HitsRusI suppose we could bring Ben Broussard back to play 3rd too.
Yeah, I saw that comment of moving Grady to left....I'm not sure that really helps the CF situation. And are we really sure that Brantley is durable enough to play center too? Maybe instead of a DH platoon(lol) what the Tribe is looking at is a CF platoon.
I think a Sizemore signing ends any talk of bring back Fukidome who would be another left handed hitter....and would already give us a totally left hitting starting OF. If Duncan is your 4th OF... How and where do we add a right handed middle of the order stick? The only 1b man that the Tribe might have a shot at from what I've heard, is Carlos Pena...another lefty. -
sportswizuhrdDrennen mentioned them looking at Jason Kubel(and he has always wanted Cuddyer) the other day. Has this been ruled out now? I think I would rather have both than Sizemore at this point, but honestly I don't know Kubel's numbers so maybe Sizemore would be a better fit.

HitsRusLooks like the Red Sox have eliminated Sandy Alomar from their short list of mangerial prospects.....Last week the Cubs chose Dale Sveum over Sandy. Alomar will most likely move to bench coach for the Tribe for the 2012 season.

Glad we are able to keep him!HitsRus;983337 wrote:Looks like the Red Sox have eliminated Sandy Alomar from their short list of mangerial prospects.....Last week the Cubs chose Dale Sveum over Sandy. Alomar will most likely move to bench coach for the Tribe for the 2012 season.
Any word on trades or FA signings? -
grodtProbably not a lot going to happen until the Winter Meetings. Also I heard that some teams were holding off a bit until after the new CBA was finalized so that the exact rules were known. I'd expect things to pick up in the coming weeks.
-
HitsRusWhen is the rule 5 draft?....I'm thinking they are holding off until then. If they sign Sizemore before, they may have to clear a roster spot and expose another player.
-
BR1986FB92.3 had Bob DiBiascio(sp?) on this morning and he felt their rotation & pen is set. He felt like they'd be going strictly after bats.
No shocker in that he said guys like Fielder, Pujols, etc were not options. Also was brought up that the Cubs hiring Sveum away from the Brewers might be a move to potentially entice Fielder to Chicago. -

Good info, thanks. -

The Rule 5 draft is Dec. 8. The Indians 40-man roster is currently full so they would have to remove someone in order to sign him. I don't see them waiting until the 8th so my guess is they will end up removing someone.HitsRus;983944 wrote:When is the rule 5 draft?....I'm thinking they are holding off until then. hoops23Grady back to the Tribe is a done deal.
http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111123&content_id=26032234&vkey=news_cle&c_id=cleThat changed when the Indians approached Sizemore's camp with an offer that has the potential to be worth as much as his former club option. Sizemore's new one-year pact has a base salary of $5 million and it is believed that the contract's total value would reach $9 million if he achieves the performance bonuses included.
The incentives in Sizemore's deal will not kick in until he reaches 450 plate appearances.
-
Con_Alma$5 mil with $4 mil incentives. It's basically his option contract value except it's based on incentives.
It's too much. $5 mill guaranteed is 1/10 the payroll and they still need a right handed stick....probably a first baseman, and some depth in the outfield. -
dazedconfusedwhat a waste of money

Laley23I wish they had just picked up his option. Would have saved me the false hope the money would be spent to improve the team.

Have no fear, they'll sign Manny Ramirez to a deal! :rolleyes:Laley23;985215 wrote:I wish they had just picked up his option. Would have saved me the false hope the money would be spent to improve the team.
