Merrill Hoge blasts Tim Tebow on Twitter

+2
You keep saying 50%. You are ignoring 6 rushing TDs. Last year's passer ratings: Orton 79.6 , Tebow 82.1
Hoge should look at Orton's first season. 51%, rating 59.7

You should quit making comparisons like this as one could take it to mean that you could possibly believe that Tebow is on the same level as an NFL quarterback as Orton. You don't want to do so, as it's so ridiculous, you lose all credibility not only in this lifetime, but in any possible future lifetimes.Speedofsand;860440 wrote:+2

What about the article I posted? Just disregard that? -

Lol, cause the 6 rushing tds excuses a 50% completion percentage. -

same as you ignoring the article I posted. You believe a washed up ESPN hack? Anyone around this board can tell you what liars they are at ESPN, the Dispatch, Yahoo, S.I., etc.Automatik;860519 wrote:What about the article I posted? Just disregard that?
So you want to ignore the QB passer rating, yards per attempt, points per game, etc.; 50% is all that counts in your book? Ignore that Orton was 51% his first year?Terry_Tate;860665 wrote:Lol, cause the 6 rushing tds excuses a 50% completion percentage. -

Yes I read them all. I think you're taking my comments like I have something against Tebow, which I do not. I'm just trying to understand your constant defending of him.
So the articles questioning Tebow's ability are written by liars, hacks, etc. but your NFL.com article is not? -

Moron the whole point was he is inaccurate. So yeah, 50% is all that counts. -

Orton isn't a 1st year QB so who the f**k cares what he did his first year? Clearly all you care about is defending Tebow to the point of hilarity. -
sleeperAre people really defending Tebow? The guy was a great player in college, but his NFL career will go nowhere. That's really all there is to it, book it, bank it.

I think that point goes back to the statement that you can't improve accuracy. Someone pointed out Orton's numbers the last few years and he's characterized as a solid NFL QB, but he started out pretty shaky (particularly as it relates to accuracy). Just an example of how QB's can improve, including accuracy. Obviously, that isn't an argument for Tebow to start right now, but a statement that his future isn't necessarily doomed. -
SportsAndLadyStill trying to figure out how to fix accuracy
Seems like one of those things you either got it or ya dont -
Gblockhodge had the benefit of a great team and wasnt that great of a player. im a steeler fan but he was way too harsh on tebow. his remarks make it seems like he thinks he's going into the hall of fame. as far as tebow goes i say give it some time. he's certainly as good as some guys ive seen play last year. off the top of my head rusty smith, dennis dixon, charlie whitehurst etc...

As it relates to Tebow, I know in the Hoge rant he specifically talked about how Tebow overthrew a couple and underthrew a couple. But do you really think that Tebow got by all these years without being able to throw a ball at a target? Accuracy, as it is important to an NFL quarterback, is a result of many other things, not a standalone skill. There are plenty of things that quarterbacks can and do to improve their accuracy.
Peyton Manning's career completion percentage is about 10 points higher than his rookie season. Drew Brees completed less than 60% of his passes his first three years in the league, then had a season at 70%. Steve Young completed around 52-53% for 4 years and ended up hitting 70% in one season.
None of this means Tebow will do the same, but accuracy is definitely something that can be improved because there are so many other factors that impact it. -
SportsAndLadyYour completion % can change, sure...that doesn't mean your accuracy went from bad to good overnight. You can go from a good to great accuracy level but you can't just go from bad to good.
Those QBs' completion %s went up because of experience, not just because their accuracy got that much better. Just my opinion I guess -
SpeedofsandForget Orton's first year, Tebow's numbers are better than Orton's in 2010.

While I wholeheartedly agree with that, it doesn't seem what you described was SOS' intent, but whatever. -

Hey! On those older Madden NFL games when I was doing a franchise, I was always putting preseason points into throwing accuracy and watching it go up during the season!
Oh wait...this is real life...whoops. -
HereticWuh-roh! Maybe that one great preseason outing WON'T be enough.

Hoge is being a dick when it comes to Tebow, its obvious he just doesn't like him personally. Hoge said on ESPN just a few minutes ago that Tebow was plain awful in the 3 starts he had at the end of season. He was far from awful for a rookie starting in his first 3 NFL games. Hoge has been very unprofessional in his comments about Tebow.Gblock;861182 wrote:hodge had the benefit of a great team and wasnt that great of a player. im a steeler fan but he was way too harsh on tebow. his remarks make it seems like he thinks he's going into the hall of fame. as far as tebow goes i say give it some time. he's certainly as good as some guys ive seen play last year. off the top of my head rusty smith, dennis dixon, charlie whitehurst etc... -

Link to that?
I remember Hoge saying he did very well in his limited action last season -

As one highly knowledgeable member of the organization told me Monday, “If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy. Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [Brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now.” -
sleeperLOL @ Tebow fans.
