Merrill Hoge blasts Tim Tebow on Twitter

  • Speedofsand
    The critics said Emmitt Smith was too small, too slow for the NFL. The critics jobs is to talk shit. Mel Kiper and Toddler McShay don't know any more about the draft than any avg fan. Hoge has been hit in the head too many times. He is jealous because a 2nd string QB is a better runner than he ever was.

    You sound like an idiot.

    Name me one successful inaccurate QB

    2010=
    Tebow = 11 Touchdowns in 3 games
    Orton = 20 Touchdowns in 13 games

    College numbers mean nothing in the NFL.

    I think the Tebow lovers are just pissy because Hoge was vocal and flat out squashed the hype.

    This is what you use to try and prove people wrong about his accuracy and how his game correlates to the NFL?

    True.
    You can't improve your accuracy.
    False. If that were the case, why would anyone practice? I can't say whether Tebow will or not. As Hoge alluded to, it has a lot to do with his mechanics and those probably aren't easy to fix at this stage.

    I mean if you have bad accuracy, youre AT BEST going to have decent accuracy. You don't win in the NFL with decent accuracy.

    People practice to work on other, more concrete things--timing, endurance, arm strength, etc. but accuracy, you don't just find one day in practice.

    I don't have the stats in front of me but didn't Joe Namath throw more career INTs than TD's and had a career accuracy of something like 55%?

    I don't analyze that stuff to the detail, but doesn't accuracy have a lot to with footwork, timing, and delivery? I mean, I don't think it is that Tebow can't stand and throw to a target. It is that some of the dynamics of the NFL game compound the variables that affect that ability. His delivery being the most obvious - in college, he could lock in and wind-up. In the NFL, that costs him too much time and being off just a little bit changes the outcome much, much more. I don't disagree with what you are saying, but I don't think you can talk about accuracy as a standalone skill without considering the fundamentals that affect it.

    Orton passing
    Chi. 2005 = 51.6%
    Chi.2007 = 53.8%
    Chi. 2008 = 58.5 %
    Den. 2009 = 62.1 %
    Den. 2010 = 58.8%

    Anyone who says Tebow can't improve after 3 starts is a fool. Go back and look at Orton's first 3 starts in 2005.

    ^^Orton didnt have to change all of his mechanics. He had to study the playbook and improve decision making. That comes 10x easier than having to change up you're entire wind up.

    Hoge & McShay said Brian Brohm was better than Aaron Rodgers.

    Yeah, Tebow is gonna turn out to be Aaron Rodgers level

    LOL so they were wrong one time?

    You really need to take Tebow's dick out of your mouth. You sound so pathetic--wahhhh an NFL talent evaluator said Tebow is awfully inaccurate!!!

    They are wrong as much as your local weatherman.
    10x easier huh. whatever. Tebow works 10x harder.
    SAL you amuse me. You're always trying to get back at me for Pwning you a few times in old posts. Give it up. You're the idiot, you're pathetic, you suck dicks, you are a pussy who is afraid to stand up to a stupid redneck to move a truck. Fuck you, lol.

    I never said that, but he is already as good as Brian Brohm, which makes Hoge irrelevant.
    Tebow ran for more yards in just 3 games last year than Hoge did in 4 of his 8 NFL seasons.
    In those games Tebow ran for 6 TD's, 1/3 of Hoges NFL total and more than all but 2 seasons for Hoge.
  • Hb31187
    Hard work only gets you so far, im sick of everyong praising Tebow because of how hard he works. Everyone (almost) in the fucking NFL works hard. Just because he's a hard worker doesnt mean he'll amount to being an elite QB. And yes, changing your study habits and how you read defenses and makes checks at the line of scrimmage is 10x easier than having to change up your entire wind up and get accustom to nto taking shotgun snaps every possession, I dont know whats so complicated about this to you.

    Just because Tebow scored more Tds than Hoge doesnt mean he doesnt know what hes talking about, or that its wrong. Been listening to Shaq lately or something? Stop being butthurt that someone finally questioned TB and criticized him.

    Give me ONE example of you "pwning" me..just one

    I'm not afraid to stand up to a redneck, I'd rather just give $50 to your kind rather than seeing their inbred anger rain over me...I mean, really, to non-lower class citizens, $50 is nothing.

    Exactly...I love hearing about Tebow's "running ability"

    This isn't college anymore, this is the NFL; you are not going to be able to run on defenses as a QB, unless you're like Vick who can avoid contact. I would LOVE to see Tebow try to power run over NFL defenses for a full season--if it even lasted that long.

    It's sad too, becuase I actually like Tebow...it's moran hillbilly inbreds like SOS that make you hate the guy.
  • hoops23
    I have no problem with Tebow. But he was overhyped and he's not a legit franchise QB and never will be. He may become a fringe starter and a guy who fills in from time to time, but I doubt very much he'll ever be a consistent starting QB on a winning team.
  • hoops23
    Then again, Tebow is a prospect and Indians/Cleveland fans would probably take him because of the hype.

    Why the fuck do people get such joy from tearing down a guy who has started 3 fucking games? Jesus fucking christ, let him play for a few years and get some starts, why the need to call a guy a failure after 1 year? Even if he never becomes a top notch QB, he's already living the life better than 99.9% of the people in the world. Bunch of jealous bitter idiots.
