Its a mechanical issue, and no amount of last minute tweaking is going to break it. He will need to spend an off season retooling in order to become more of a contact hitter. His swing is so long that he has to commit so early in the pitch that his ability to be selective is hindered. What that amounts to is a whole lot of guessing. With less than 3 years of service in the majors, your ability to guess major league pitching can't be that good.

When he does get the pitch he wants, more often than not, he misses it anyway, or harmlessly fouls it off, then Ks in the next 1 or 2 pitches.

Lol...damn you Stubbs, that didn't help my argument!!

Dave Sappelt is a kid from down the road where I live here in NC. I have seen him play a few times, I am not convinced he can hit at the major league level either. He reminds me more of Norris Hopper every time I see him.

There is one player on AAA Louisville that can hit major league pitching, his name is Yonder Alonso. If he could play a lick of left field he would be up right now. Kid can rake.

    Ok I'll shut up now

    Yep. Agreed 100%.

Cincinnati more often than not has had famine not feasted on those home runs. As for wall scraping dingers, don't make me bring up Brooks Conrad

Arroyo for one more inning I hope?

Lol that ball would have been 10 rows deep at GABP.

The same Norris Hopper that hit .329 w/ a .371 OBP in his only full season w/ the Reds?? There's no numbers that back up this claim.

    just FYI, minor league lines

    Stubbs :1847 PA, .269, .364, .401, .765 23.4% K
    Sappelt: 1716 PA, .307, .361, .461, .822 13.2% K

There's no way if you have seen Sappelt play a decent amount you can say you don't think he can make it.
