Ironman92Leake vs Greinke
-
Ironman92Rolen will be back in the lineup at 4/17 off of Greinke....he sat out yesterday going 3/6 off of Narveson......Cairo just missed about 4 balls that game. Oh well. So many things.
-
Ironman92I know and I want Cozart to get most of the starts....but Renteria has hit Greinke as well as anyone and has 22 career at bats versus him.
As for Cozart, like the kid, seems like a gamer with some talent. Defensively his arm is not great but release is very quick. -
Ironman92OK.....for the record I had Cozart coming up on Thursday and Janish being sent down.....posted that early Wednesday
Predicted Cozart would be up and batting 7th before he was officially brought up and way before lineup was put out......and now:

Shit let me see if I can go 3/3
Cozart will get a single in his 2nd AB. -
Ironman92Today's prediction and to go 4 out of 4 on Cozart
if he starts he'll make his first error....but will knock in a run -

He should start, but ya never know w/ Dusty.Ironman92;824543 wrote:Today's prediction and to go 4 out of 4 on Cozart

Ironman92Renteria is 7/22 off of Greinke.......the most AB by far and one of the highest averages.
-
Ironman92I'd flip a coin. I do want Cozart getting the vast majority but if Renteria has done well against a pitcher slip him in there. I'd give Cozart 2 of the 3 starts left before the break.
-
jordo212000I'd put Cozart out there right away. Don't want to Heisey him! (call up a talented young guy and stash him on the bench)
We called Cozart up for a reason. That reason was that Renteria and Janish suck. I don't care about Renteria's history against Grienke. He isn't the same guy who put up those stats -
Ironman92Renteria is 5/13 off of Marcum....Saturday's pitcher and 10/41 off of Randy Wolf on Sunday.
I'd play Cozart definately on Sunday.....probably Sat and Sun.....I'd go Renteria tonight if I was in chagre of the world. -

At first I thought you quoted one of my posts from yesterday. I also put Cozart should start 6 out of 7 games even if he is struggling.....but that 1 game should be against someone Renteria has had a good amount of experience and success. The kid might need to wind down a touch from his last 36 hours. I don't care if Cozart plays and starts the whole series at all. Renteria is as much himself as Greinke is.....Faced earlier this season and Renteria was 1/3jordo212000;824556 wrote:I'd put Cozart out there right away. Don't want to Heisey him! mhs95_06I think the right starter for tonight is Renteria, and I think Dusty will do that. Cozart should be the one to start Sunday(give the veteran Renteria 5 days off). Saturday is the question, and I say it should depend on how Renteria does tonight. But Dusty likes to decide for Saturday well before the Friday game is over - that is fallacy and one of Dusty's biggest negatives -- his thinking that the players need to know what to expect well ahead.
That is as bad as this: You are the 3rd baseman and you are up one run and the opposition has runners on 1st and 3rd with no out in the 5th inning. That's like deciding ahead of time whether you will throw home or to 2nd on a grounder to you. You can think alot about it ahead of the play and the different nuances, but the final decision should come when you see how it is hit and after you have fielded it cleanly or not, and if the runner on 3rd is moving or holding. -
Ironman92Yeah.....Cozart/Renteria....probably not a huge difference right now...and yes, let Cozart get every opportunity that makes sense. Right now to me that is 6 out of 7 games......but if Renteria some how got hot...that number dwindles some as the Reds need the best player to win each game...still a race. Just looking at numbers Renteria hits tonight's pitcher pretty well and hits Saturday's pitcher very well.....if he goes 3/4 tonight with 2 RBI.....I have a lot of trouble not playing him tomorrrow against a guy he's had much success against.....but anything less than a very good game and Cozart gets Sat and Sunday......and then start him after the break and let him play a lot...as long he is decent and Renteria is not hot.

Yeah I don't see that happening any time soon -
daveWish there was a way to keep Cairo's bat in the lineup. Can't believe Dusty wasted the DH with Gomes all year.

Ironman92Cairo at 3rd yesterday reminded me of Heisey in CF

That's like one game in the Toronto series when Pittsburgh had Brandon Wood ('bout .210) as the DH. I just shook my head and was like "fuck American League rules..." -

I'm willing to guess that 95% of his outs are strike outs. -
gerb131Reds need some w's to feel good going into the break then I think we can go on a 10/13 game winning streak.
