2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup

Laley23We better not lose twice in 2 weeks to fucking Panama. Going into the tournament it was obviously win or bust, with a lose to Mexico in the title game an exception you can live with and get over. So no matter how poorly they have played, thus far, they are on pace to do what is expected and needed. Just cant slip up tonight.

From our one star to our other star..pretty -
gorocks99Freddy Adu even getting involved. Nice.
-
gorocks99Get some possession, US. Turning into a shooting gallery out there.
-
gorocks99Dang, Adu looking good down the wing there.
-
SportsAndLadyPlaying very well the last 5 min
-
gorocks99LOL, Panama is wasting their time getting in a fight.
-
gorocks99Ball game ... moving on to the final! Now, let's go HONDURAS.
-
Laley23Great pay for the goal. Probably Freddy Adu's best play at the national level (yes, that includes his goal). That pass was a thing of beauty to Landon. Who in turn, rifled that ball to the far post for Clint!
S&L, it would be the typical situation in a tie. extra time, two 15 minute halves. If still tied, PKs. -
Laley23Honduras - Mehico still scoreless in the 81st minute.
-
Laley23Extra Time, 0-0. Giovanni dos Santos missed a break-away from a difficult angle, but surely makeable in the 87th minute for Mexico. Then in the 90th, the Mexican keeper made a great save to deny Honduras the win on a shot from 22 yards out.
-
Laley23Mexico already up 2-0 in ET. Looks like we will get them Sunday.
Maybe Honduras will injure some of them, or pick some fights over the next 20 minutes and have some red cards come flying. -
hoops23Should be a hell of a final. Hopefully our back line can hold up and we can create just enough opportunities.
-
ohiobucks1Were gonna kick the shit out of mexico, physically. We may still lose though.
I'm going 2-0 USA
DOS A CERO -
AutomatikWow I just saw the goal. Hell of a pass from Donovan. I haven't been able to watch much of the Gold Cup, except for the loss against Panama. How did Adu look in general? Maybe this will be his breakout to get a spot on the national team?
I'll definitely be tuning in Sunday. I love when we play Mexico. -
iclfan2Dempsey is a boss. By far my favorite, and the best, player on the team. I like Michael Bradley a lot too, but sometimes he disappears.

Came on as a sub, but I thought he played really well. Best game of his career for the USMNT. The pass to Donovan was obviously great, but he was killing it on the wing, and was able to really stabilize possession for us at times. Played under control. -
AutomatikYeah my friend told me that Freddy was making some of the Panama players look silly. He's always had that "flair" and ability to create, and obviously the ability to fuck up royally. Lets hope he has turned a corner.

His time overseas has done him wonders. Personally, I thought he shouldve been given a look for the WC, because he HAS matured and frankly, the USA needs some flair and a guy who isnt afraid to dribble. I hope he can turn this tournament into a mainstay for the USMNT, because as big of a disappointment as he has been, he is a key to the team. -
OSHI think it's about time that Freddy got some playing time.
I called for it against Jamaica. To me, the game was decided when Donovan subbed in...give Freddy the runaround for the remainder of the game. I know, keep Donovan playing, blah, blah, blah. But Mr. Bobbo got a lot of flack for including Freddy on this roster...PLAY HIM!
I have been really disappointed with Michael Bradley's play. He's not been as active as what I've seen from him in the past games. He's had a terrible time defending. I am not a Kljestan supporter at all...but he hasn't done ALL that bad.
I am just really bummed that Feilhaber and Holden aren't healthy. They are my two favorite players for the USMNT right now (excluding Timmy Howard, of course). I'd like to see them come back and find success. -

Agree on all accounts. You included Adu for a reason. Use the kid. Otherwise, what was the point. He isnt your typical sub, like most of the guy on the bench. He was included for a spark...and we have needed it every damn game, yet this is the first time he is used.
Michael Bradley has SUCKED. I dont know if he cant play along side Jermaine Jones or what? But if thats the case, it sucks, cause Jones isnt going anywhere. They are our 2 best central/holding mids right now and they need to learn to work off each other. They just seem to get stagnant. Im not saying they can do what Spain or Barca do..but at least emulate the movements. That midfield is a thing of fucking beauty. Busquets and Xavi or Xavi and Alonso, or Alonso and Busquets. Any combination kills it in the role.
I agree about Holden. I would love to see him get some meaningful play in the mid. Feilhaber I like and then hate...but I do wish was healthy. He could help this team. -
AutomatikA little off topic, but I read an article yesterday about EPL players who have "earned an upgrade" to bigger clubs. Dempsey was on there and it mentioned he's being watched by AC Milan. I'm really happy for him....well deserved, BUT...I don't want him in the Serie A. He's got the swagger to play in England and I hope he stays. Of course I'll be happy for him if he goes to any big club....but PLEASE don't go to Italy.
