Deron Williams #12 and Carmelo Anthony #18.

    Durrant
    CP3
    Williams
    Kobe
    Pau Gasol
    Dwade
    Derrick Rose
    Blake Griffin
    Howard
    Dirk
    Al Hortford
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Paul Pierce
    Tim Duncan
    Amare'
    then I'd list Melo.

Not exactly in that order but I'd put Melo at the bottom of that list.

Give me Melo before Deron Williams. Not a knock at D Will either. And I have mixed feelings about this deal. On one hand, you can never go wrong getting the best player in a deal, which the Nets far and away got. But on the flip side, the Nets are going nowhere anytime soon and they gave up a lot of future pieces. Plus Devin Harris, who is a quality starter. Who do the Nets even have on their team now besides Deron Williams and an underperforming Brook Lopez? That Nets first round draft pick is probably going to be a top 5 pick. And are there any big time free agents coming out over the next year or so that the Nets could lure to New Jersey/Brooklyn? I know Howard and CP3 are going to be hitting the market soon. I think the Nets kind of panicked and wanted to make a splash after losing out on Melo. But on the flip side they now have that face of the franchise that can help recruit players to New Jersey/Brooklyn that Brook Lopez/Devin Harris could never be. Overall, good trade.

    Hahaha horford??
    Aldridge??
Blake griffin?? He can dunk, and then is one of the laziest players I've ever seen.
Duncan right now isn't top 30

Tim Duncan fell off, this isnt 2003
    Al Horford
    Pierce
    Amare
    Griffin
    Alddridge
    Williams
    CP3

All those players id put below Melo, but i guess its kinda pointless to argue opinions

Give me Melo before any of the bolded players. And if not factoring for age, give me Melo before Blake Griffin as a player today.

So the Nets starting lineup is going to be D Will, Anthony Morrow, Travis Outlaw, Kris Humphries, and Brook Lopez?

I think this was a response to the Knicks trade. To me this is a trade that suggests that the Nets think they can use Williams to recruit guys to come to NJ. They did give up a lot in this trade though. They better hope Williams can recruit.

From a brand standpoint this helps the Nets as well. They now have a marketable player who can be the face of the team. Harris and Lopez aren't really "face of franchise" guys and the team wasnt going anywhere with that combo headlining anyways.

Can't Williams become a free agent after the season? They better hope he stays.

Why havent any of you Melo lovers commented on CBS Sports link I provided. The overall player rankings have Williams 6 spots higher than your boy. Oh wait, its because ppl on the OC are smarter than sportswriters at CBS?

Not after this season, but next. I think the plan is to try and lock him up

I read your list, and then I went like this.

    CBS sports covers the NBA?

Noone said they were smarter. Everyone has an opinion. Melo can go for 35+ on any given night. And who cares about d. He won't be asked to play it in new York so why's it matter?!
  • september63
I understand they are all just opinions. The debate started with who would you start a team with, Melo or Williams. I said Williams. YES, last I checked CBS Sports covered the NBA.

Yeah I had the same reaction. I laughed even harder when I saw that LaMarcus Aldridge was ahead of Melo too

RT @tribjazz Sources close to Williams had absolutely no idea trade was happening. Received calls this am/were dumbfounded. Deron not happy
    Oops.

NJ makes this trade without even talking to Deron Williams?

Apparenlty so. I doubt he is going to want to re-sign with the Nets after playing out the rest of the season with Brook Lopez as his sidekick.
  • thedynasty1998
The guy who insults everyone else's NBA knowledge comes up with that list for top 15 guys in the NBA?

Putting Horford and Aldridge in the same list as Carmelo is laughable.
