I agree, but at the same time, just because they don't play defense in the regular season, doesn't mean they won't in the playoffs. Amare actually defended Gasol pretty well last year in the playoffs.

I told you Carmelo could play defense when it mattered, as could Amare.

The defense he played on Lebron to obstruct him without fouling and allowing Amare the time to get over and block it was fantastic.

1 game doesn't change who they are. When Melo and Amare can do it over a 7 game series then I will be impressed.
True... But if they are playing defense in a random February regular season game, then you should probably assume they will play defense in meaningful postseason games down the road

Playing the Heat in late February is not a "random" regular season game.

The point remains the same. They played defense against the Heat and this was a regular season game. Logic seems to suggest that if they play defense in Februrary they will probably play defense in the playoffs too

My point remains the same also, can they do it over the grind of a 7 game series. So far in their careers they have not been able to.

Meh who plays good defense is almost alllll opinion. For example, Kidd was on the all defensive team for years...and consistently got abused on defense. Marcus Camby won DPOY when he was with the Nuggets. I watched him play often, and he would just grab rebounds and block a few weakside shots. But for every shot he blocked, there were 2 passes dropped off to his man he left for an easy dunk

alot of the time guys just stay on the all defensive teams bc theyve been on it for years. Like Duncan and Kobe of late

Kobe proved yesterday that he does not fall into the "because they have been on it for years" category...but for the most part I agree. Denver and Phoenix give up a lot of points when Amare and Carmello were there and the knicks have given up a lot of points this year with Amare.

How did that one game of playing "defense" work out 2 days later? Does logic still suggest they will play defense over a series in the playoffs?
