Tigers tix went on sale today. Bought tickets for May 30th daygame vs Twins. Joe Mauer is probably my 2nd favorite player and you gotta love seeing baseball live

Nothing beats it. I try to make it to at least a few Reds games per season, but I live about 3 hours away. It's tough to make that trip very often.

I generally take in about 3-4 Clippers games though. I love the stadium, tickets are cheap, and you get to see future major leaguers.

Utley received a cortisone shot in his knee. Saw something earlier that said that right now it is still being called tendinitis but it could be something more.

Oh I hear ya there...it's about 3 hours to Cincy from Toledo. Made it down for a few games last year. AAA games are pretty good to watch though but the problem is they don't have the power the major leaguers do and since the parks are the same size it kinda sucks to see no one hit homeruns or constant deep shots

You never went to the Hens games with Mike Hessman did you?? lol, I kid, because we (news/sports guys) always joked about how that guy will never make it out of Toledo. Then he has some tremendous years and the Tigers bring him up and BANG! They sign Cabrera and back to the Hens goes Mike Hessman. His nickname in the media realm was Poor Mike Hessmaaaan, cause he was never making it out of the AAA ranks no matter what he did. And he hit some BLASTS at Fifth Third.

Haha maybe if he could get on base more than 30% of the time but he needs to get out of the system. There's somewhere in the pros for him...just look at what it did for Ryan Ludwick

pretty cool picture of people's faces in the crowd at this Toronto/Atlanta game. The bat was Dan Uggla's.

the fan, Mitch Davie, caught the bat with one hand. And he didn't spill his Red Stripe.

Way too early to say he's done, but a guy his age with so many injuries has to be very unlikely to ever get back close to his 30/100 days.

Apparently success for Schafer is a .182 average. (he leads MLB in ABs)

Doesn't change the fact that the quote is funny. I don't really care if he hits or not in spring training. As long as either he or McLouth is hitting in the regular season, I'll be happy.

Hopefully, the most disgruntled (overall from everywhere I read and/or post about the Pirates, not necessarily just here) members of the Pittsburgh fanbase keeps that in mind.

While Morton's had an "interesting in a bad way" major league career with Pittsburgh, Gorky Hernandez seems to be little more than an inconsistent light-hitting outfielder and Jeff Locke's still a year or two from potentially sniffing the bigs...I'd still rather have their young potential to develop into something than the guy who parlayed a good 60% of a season into being the Second Coming in the minds of some. He was batting under .200 last year and people were still mentioning him as ONE WHO WAS SURRENDERED. SMH...

I agree he was bad last year. Ended up batting .190 but he missed a lot of time after suffering a concussion when Heyward ran him over in right center field. He wasn't right after that. He has looked like the McLouth of Pittsburgh so far this spring, hitting a modest .467. I realize its spring training, but it is encouraging to see him look like he has a clue at the plate when that wasn't the case last summer.

Worst case scenario, neither Schafer nor McLouth hit once the season starts, and they are dropped to 8th in the lineup. Heyward to 2nd, bump up Freeman and Gonzalez.

Forgive me for not believing his ST success. The guy has had a good 3 months with Pittsburgh. He is a career .250 hitter and his best year was like .270. Not a whole lot to look forward too. Especially since his power is fairly limited.

Right, I agree its only spring training. If he hits .260 in the 8 hole this season, I'll take it.

yeah, for an 8 hole that isnt bad in the NL. Ive just given up thinking he will ever be a 3 or 5 hole hitter.

Add me to the group who doesn't think much of McLouth

Are you talking to me? When did ever say he was done? I believe Utley will be just fine.
