  OMG...I'm 'bout to give up on you dynasty
  
  C's and linemen in general are taken later as teams are trying to fill points scoring needs, flash guys. Trying to find that diamond in the rough. Thus, that 4th round center isn't going to get a big ass contract. It's not that they're valued less, it's that they don't have to pay them as much initially. Proven commodities at those positions grow their contracts, not by initial signing bonuses, but by proving their worth on the field.

  Right on. Take Pouncey for Pittsburgh as an example. He signed a 5 year deal for 18 mil, 10 guaranteed. That is a nice chunk for a rookie center/guard, mostly because he was taken at 18. He was originally expected to play guard and then gradually transition to center. He blew the coaching staff away and has been ballin at center all season long and made the Pro Bowl. His next deal will be a fatty one for sure.
  
  fwiw Mack is a nice player. Although not talked about much, a good center is a must have for a team to have sustained success.

  Nah, there were good players at the QB and LB position after him in the draft, so it was not a good pick...

  I wasn't suggesting that. It was just a solid pick at the time that is panning out well for Cleveland. No one can predict the future and honestly....did anyone really think Clay Matthews would be the freak that he is? I sure as hell didn't.
  
  With the Pittsburgh's woes at center, at the time, I was wanting Mack pretty bad, but I guess everything worked out in the long run.

  Also want to point out, and i'll use Clay Mathews as an example. Yes, the Browns could have taken him, but the Clay Mathews you see with the Packers, does not necessarily mean he would produce at the same level if he were with the Browns. In Green Bay, he's got some great talent around him to go along with his own. The Browns don't have a Charles Woodson in the secondary or a BJ Raji in the trenches. Hell, AJ Hawk might even be better than most of our linebackers. I'm a believer that the talent around Mathews, can help make him that much better of a player. I'm not saying he wouldn't be any good at all, but I don't think you'd see the impact he has in Green Bay.

  Kiper and mcshay are a joke......their mocks are ridiculous. Kiper will probably fall in love with mallet like he did clausen last year and we saw how that has gone.

  Hopefullly we get Green with that pick, would be huge. I know we need linebackers/DE's, but it would be huge if we could get another receiver/speed player with our next pick. Obviously it's not going to be a popular choice, but I say you load up on offense this draft.

  My philosophy is that you build an offense or defense from the inside out. On offense, if you don't have a solid line, your skill positions aren't going to perform very well. If your defensive front can't get pressure or effectively take on blocks, it makes it hard for the LB's and secondary to make plays. So, I liked the Mack draft pick very much. With that being said, the Browns need to decide if they want to improve the offense(WR) or defense(DE). IMO, the defense was serviceable and the offense was bad(outside of a couple games), so my ultimate choice is AJ Green.

  Great point. Even with a Clay Mathews our defense lacks d-line rush and quality cover corners. Although corners were getting a bit better.

  For example, in Todd McShay's recent mock, he has Mike Pouncey going #15 to the Dolphins, but explains that they also need a RB. IMO, Ingram is clearly the better value at 15, for both need AND position.
  
  Not to mention, Pouncey is a guard in the NFL, not a center.
  
  There are four core positions in the NFL. A QB, Left Tackle, Cornerback, and Pass Rusher. Those positions are generally drafted and overvalued/reached for more often.
  
  Perfect example: Mario Williams being drafted #1 overall by the Texans, despite their need for Reggie Bush and how highly touted he was coming out of the NFL Draft.

  Good post. Those are without question, the four most important positions in the NFL and also why they are paid accordingly.

  I don't agree with what thedynasty is saying overall. But in what he said with Mack/Matthews, he's 100% spot on.
  
  A great pass rusher is one of the four core positions that's a must to have on every team. I'm not saying having a great center isn't important because it is. But if you told me that I could trade Mack for Matthews straight up, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and take a look at Kris O'Dowd or Stefen Wisniewski in the draft.
  
  Mack is undoubtedly one of the most improved centers in the NFL, and I love the guy, and thankful to have him. But one would be an idiot to turn down one of the best young pass rushers in the league for one of the best young centers in the league.

  I will note, however, that if this trade were proposed to the Browns today, I'd decline it. But it's only because we are now running a 4-3 defense, and Matthews is a pure 3-4 OLB.

  If you could draft anybody in the history of the game with the #1 overall pick. Would you rather have a guy like Bruce Matthews, Dermonti Dawson, among other elite centers, or would you rather have Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Lawrence Taylor, or Derrick Thomas.
