The pens are going to need to win games in regulation. The game with the devils is an interesting one as the devils seem to give the pens fits with their trap. Devils might be mentally out of it though since they are not going to see the playoffs. I honestly think whoever wins home ice is going to win that series.

I think a lot depends on how quickly they get Crosby implemented and back into playing shape for the series. Without Crosby I have a hard time envisioning the Penguins being able to score enough goals.

It's hard to imagine that Crosby will be any close to 100% for that first series. He is pretty damn good, but first game back with contact is a playoff game? Not too sure Lemieux or the great one would be playing top notch hockey in those circumstances. The pens all year without crosby/malkin have been grinding out close wins. They have a lot of games and wins that went to shoot out. I think they will be mentally prepared for close games, and they definitely won't be flustered in a shoot out. I think they can get by in this series by grinding out those wins, but eventually that will wear down on them without Crosby playing as good as he can play.

Interesting. Are you sure about Crosby 100% though? Once you get that first concussion its a lot easier to get that 2nd, 3rd, etc concussion. I also wonder how much not having Malkin out there hurts Crosby as well.

What Talbot brings to the Pens is invaluable leadership on the ice and in the locker room and he knows, and plays his role with Pittsburgh very well.

I do agree with you on these points.

I could see Brian Burke throwing money at him in the off-season though.

How much though? I think he is going to ask more than he really should deserve.

I see someone throwing at least 1.8mil+ a season, Along with Dupuis.

Those guys are replaceable with cheaper players in Joe Vitale (Who out played Talbot when he was called up) and for the Pens to re-sign Asham.

Lines I want to see next year:

    Kuntiz-Crosby-Kennedy
    Neal-Malkin-Tangradi
    Cooke-Staal-Jeffrey
    Adams-Letestu-Asham

    Orpik-Letang
    Martin-Michalek
    Niskanen-Engelland
    Lovejoy

Tailbot is a middle of the pack player. He plays on the 3rd line, I cant envision him making $2/3 million, he's an avg player. Toronto is a young team and they want young developing talent, they dont need a 27 yr old player sitting on the 3rd line that isn't going to develop into what they need him too. I dont think Burke is throwing a fat contract his way.

    If not Burke, somebody will.

I just don't see "Superstar" on the team next year.

He makes 1mil to play on the 4th line. Use that for Kennedy's new contract along with a could be UFA RW.

I just hope it's not the Blue Jackets then.

They've got too many 4th line centers. They have no need for him.

    Sad but true.

Gigantic game for the Pens tonight, need two points to stay ahead of the Tampons and to stay in the race for the division and conference.

    Pens win 4-2.
  • GoPens
Philly loses to Ottawa 5-2 so the Pens only 1 point behind the Flyers. Washington won in a SO so they have 105 points, Philly 103 and the Pens 102. With 2 games to go I doubt they can catch the Caps, but the Flyers is a definate possibility and a chance to grab the #2 seed. The Flyers struggling having lost 4 in a row.

I definitely wouldn't mind catching the Flyers. As hot as Washington is right now combined with their regular-season success against the Pens, the more rounds between the Pens and them, the better.

Big win last night and the power play looked better.

This team is set up for great things, if they can get Crosby back they would have to be one of the favorited to win it all.

The Caps don't bother me at all. Yes, they won all their games against the Pens this year but Pittsburgh played well in those games and out played Washington in a couple of them.

Interesting fact, with two games remaining, Ovechkin still has one goal less than Crosby for the season.

Flyers seem to be out of gas....definitely wouldn't be surprised to see them swap places with pitt.

I want no part of Washington or Montreal right now.
