But he can easily throw 22 pitches in the next 2 innings. The fact that he goes 1-2-3 so often is what allows him to stay in so long. -
mhs95_06Ump gave Pettitte a key strike on one that was really outside to Hamilton on the 1-0 pitch with a runner at 1st.
-
mhs95_06I think Hamilton did "drop his head", as they were saying, on his HR in the 1st!
-
mhs95_06Which closer will get the chance to save the game?

Neither. I don't think Washington can take Lee out can he? -
mhs95_06Ump badly misses the first pitch to A-Rod to lead off the 7th. Clearly a strike and not called as such. He grounds out though.

Honestly, I let Lee go as long as he is pitching well. Pitch count be damned. -
mhs95_06Thru 7 innings Lee with 109 pitches and Pettitte with 110. But the two big runs in favor of Lee.
-
Laley23Lee doesnt come out of this game if I am Ron Washington. Granted, that is if he still is pitching well. If he gets in trouble its a different story. But he isnt coming out because of some stupid pitch count.
-
karen lotzYeah I actually think he was too quick with the hook in game 1 with Wilson. Then he panicked and started playing musical relievers.

yep. Unless you plan on going 3 days rest with these guys (which I wouldnt cause you want Lee for a game 7) than who cares if they throw 103 or 125 pitches??? -
Ironman92Lee is off the chart.
He stays in if he wants to stay in.....he's more than earned it.
Few stress pitches. -
KR1245Just mowing em down.

Ironman92as Smoltzy steals my terminology....lol

Ironman9213 K and never cracks 93 and really doesn't have much movement....goodness he is beyond pinpoint

...and he just never throws what you expect/guess. How many 2 seam fastballs have been thrown for a called 3rd strike. Or a change-up at 2-0 (not that he has had a 2-0 count), or a first pitch curve.
Just ridiculous right now. Lee better not be taken out. Whats the difference between 120 pitches and whatever he ends up at? -
Ironman92I bet Ron Washinton would appreciate the Rangers scoring about 5 this inning.
If it stays 2-0....Lee cannot come out. Washington is an 80's throwback guy....not too mention...what would Nolan do? -
mhs95_06122 pitches and the last hitter was a K and Lee's still topped out at 93 on both the last two!

I would say roughly the number of pitches he ends up at - 120. -
Ironman92It's just hard to believe over a 3 game stretch no one can guess right and make good contact on any pitch of any count.
Teams would make better contact off of a cannon. -

I pinned you or Wes to make that comment. lol -
Ironman92sorry lotz...you are going to have to explain that one to me
-
mhs95_06The worst thing for the Rangers is to have a long inning and not score.
