Cleveland Cavaliers (current) off-season rumors

  • thedynasty1998
I misread your post, my bad. There are some that have implied that the Cavs should pursue Paul, and some who seem to think they have a chance.

I think you bring up a really interesting point though. Not only are the free agents talking amongst themselves and basically waiting for Lebron to make his decision.

But a lot of moves will be made prior to when free agency starts which could change everything. If Paul gets traded to a team with cap space it makes that team more appealing. If a team like New Jersey can clear some cap space and sign two guys to a max deal it changes everything.

I think there will be a lot of moves made in the next couple days that could really change everything.

The Bulls are talking about giving away Deng to clear cap space. It's all very interesting.

If I would have told you that Kwame Brown, Javaris Criitenton and a couple future draft picks was enough to get Pau Gasol you would probably have told me the same thing. Only point I'm trying to make is that its not ALWAYS about getting equal value in return. Cavs are capable of putting together a decent package.

What's the rumor about Mayo? No, I don't feel like looking it up.

If that is the case, Cleveland has less than a 0% chance of getting him even if available because they have nothing like that to offer if that is the kind of bid teams are willing to make.

Yeah, but I think teams have learned their lesson not to get butt raped in deals like that anymore. Besides, with Jerry West (I believe) pulling the trigger to the Lake Show, it was almost as if that was some form of collusion. I highly doubt we see a trade that bad again.

Right now thats only a rumor. You dont have to look very far to see one-sided trades, they happen all the time. I'm not saying they will land Bosh or Paul but they have a chance. The "they dont have the pieces" argument doesnt always work in the NBA.

Hope you're right but I think other teams have better deals to offer.

I know its a long shot. I also dont think its totally out of the question. I'm not even sure I want the Cavs to sit around and wait for a deal with Bosh or Paul. I might be in the minority but I dont think this team is that far away. You dont finish with the best record in the league two years in a row because of ONE player. I'd be happy if the Cavs tried to add Al Jefferson a draft pick and John Salmons. I also think Collison and Okafor could be a possibility as well. I worry that Gilbert and Grant are going to put all their eggs in one basket (Bosh or Paul) and if it doesnt work out they are left with nothing.
  • Commander of Awesome
I think Collison/Okafor is more realistic than CP3 or Bosh.

I'm with you there. Gilbert is great at throwing around money but he knows nothing about the player evaluations. Leave that to the basketball guys and DON'T try to play "fantasy basketball." He pulled the same crap (putting his eggs in one basket) with Izzo.

Cavs are fucked. Chicago just sent there 17th pick tonite and Kirk Heinricks large contract to Washington shedding more salary. Bosh and Lebron to Chicago. Book it!!! The city of Cleveland is about to be fucked.

PS...Browns training camp starts in less than 30 days. GO BROWNS!!!!
  • KR1245
Bulls also working on a deal to send Deng to the Kings as well. Both the Heat and the Bulls are going to make a serious run at bringing in 2 of these guys. I think the Cavs almost HAVE to pull the trigger on something tonight.
  • thedynasty1998
Of course the Cavs have to, if they head into free agency with the exact same roster and no coach, they have no chance of landing Lebron.

Dude you're so depressing...you are the most pessimistic muther fucker in the world. #cheerthefuckup
  • miller45452003
^^^^^^^^^^The Cavs have done nothing but sit on there hands thus far while other teams are making smart moves to clear cap space/improve rosters. If you don't see this, then you are a dumb "muther fucker". We'll know more of which way this franchise is heading in about 6-7 hours. If nothing is done tonite, I would have to believe we're fucked at best. Time to totally panic? Probably not. Start to panic? Hell yes. Sorry...just my opinion.

Cavs are in between a rock and a hard place. I have no idea which direction they are going to go. I dont think that they should wait around for Paul or Bosh. There are plenty of good basketball players out there, they need to get busy.
  • miller45452003
^^^^^^^^I agree 100%. They should not put all there eggs into one basket like he already tried doing with Izzo.
  • thedynasty1998
I agree with that. If they are waiting around for Paul or Bosh, they are dumb and unrealistic, which I don't think they are.

I just don't know how much better they can make their roster, but we should find out tonight. Maybe they think they can stay put and still have a chance at Lebron, but I don't see it.

And honestly, buying a late 1st rounder isn't going to prove anything to Lebron, it just prepares for life without Lebron and the rebuilding mode.

Man, if Chicago is able to shed Hinrich and Deng without having to take back any salary that is not good news for the Cavs as the Bulls will be swimming in a sea of cap space and still have Rose/Noah with the ability to add 2 stud free agents.

I think the Bulls add Bosh or Amare and Joe Johnson. I think the Cavs need to worry about the Heat and Knicks......jmo
