Oh yeah, they are focused in on every detail. They know all the cap shit, rumors and everything in between. -
BR1986FBNew York Knicks president of basketball operations Donnie Walsh is a patient man.
The Knicks completed their presentation to free agent LeBron James on Thursday and followed it up with presentations to Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on Friday.
As of Sunday night, they still aren't sure where they stand.
"I have no idea," Walsh said. "I think that almost all of these guys have been tight about what their intentions are. All the meetings we had were really good. They were informative. But I didn't get an indication in what their interest was. The agent would say they're interested. And that's where we are. We are waiting to hear. With those guys you can afford to be a little patient."
Walsh did confirm that the Knicks' sent assistant GM Glen Grunwald to Cleveland for a second meeting with LeBron's agent, Leon Rose, on Saturday. But he said the meeting was just to clarify the team's cap position both this year and the next.
"We didn't get into it in our first meeting the way we wanted to," Walsh said. "We just wanted to make sure they had all the information."
Walsh, however, denied a report by The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, that the Knicks were meeting again with James on Sunday night.
"We don't have any other meetings scheduled with LeBron," Walsh said. "I'm in New York. Unless someone is there without my knowledge, no, we're done."
ESPN.com learned Sunday the second meeting was also to clarify exactly where New York stood in regards to signing free agent Amare Stoudemire. James' representatives wanted to know whether it was true that the Knicks had already formally offered Stoudemire a contract.
Walsh also said reports of a deal with Stoudemire are premature.
"He spent the weekend in N.Y. with his agent," Walsh said. "He went to some baseball games. Mike [D'Antoni] met with him today to talk basketball and some personal issue this morning. We're meeting with him tomorrow. We haven't sat down and talked contract [with] him at all."
Walsh said the team is already exploring other free agent plans should LeBron, Wade and /or Bosh say no to the Knicks saying the team had a plan "B, C, D, E, and F."
He also addressed the idea, that if the Knicks strike out in free agency with the Top 3, that they might just save their money for next year.
"You could put it off until next year, but it's tough to do, especially with the direction we've been going," Walsh said. "But you can do it. At the very least, you have to start building into place some of the supporting cast now. If we can't get the stars this summer, we're at least going to put some players into place that will complement."

What isn't true....that they weren't meeting with Lebron or that the PD reported it? -
KR1245PD reported it after some guy from NY. I guess its true that Windy did report it but he wasnt the first to do so

Do you think it bothers me if you guys call me tubby, retarded, stupid, dumb etc....?
Why would I care about what anyone on an internet message board thinks of me?
Lesson #1 Gibby. On this site people will let you slide for the most part for being "tubby, retarted, stupid and dumb", BUT....when you're a dick on top of all that....Well, sometimes they can be unforgiving. -
KR1245There will be plenty more of these rumors in the next couple days. Its going to be interesting to see how many false reports are out there.

Tigerfan00I think Gibby may have taken his ball and went home to watch Tim Tebow highlights.

I don't give a shit what reasoning you have, if you're a fan of another team and you come over there talking that mess, you DESERVE to get ripped (same thing about wearing the opposing teams jersey to the home arena). Don't come into our house talking that nonsense! LMAO..
There are a couple of Lakers fans that are pretty cool though, well, the one is starting to become a dick with the "LeBron is leaving" bullshit.. -

wes_mantoothWindy on KNR:
- LeBron will probably announce decision after Wed. night. He basically recruits for Nike and his marketing firm so he won't want to disturb.
- League will know cap space by Wed. night, so there might be reason to see landscape with the league (in terms of Miami or Jersey clearing space).
- What happened with the Knicks? Short answer: Economy killed them. Had to tear team down more than they thought to get under cap. Things got worse when LeBron said he wasn't going to visit NY but instead bring people to Cleveland, as they wanted to show off the city. They also had to follow the Nets, which was tough act to follow, with Jay Z and Prokhorov. Feeling out of LeBron's camp is Knicks are trailing.
- Nets are not out of the game. Thinks LeBron is still considering them. But they are playing in Newark the next two years, and could even be three years. Timing is not right, but Prokhorov was a bit of a gamechanger.
- Heat: Bosh already took a paycut, won't take another (presumably means he's not getting the max now?). LeBron won't be taking that kind of pay cut.
- Bulls: Not sure why he met last with them, but he doesn't look too much into it. But you should read into the fact they were the last two teams. He will seriously consider them
- He thinks Bron will re-sign. No teams can make truly compelling case to put the dagger in his hometown, according to Windhorst. No other team guarantees anything. And Byron Scott probably really helped alot. Thinks Cavs were fantastic in presentation, and were confident afterwards.
- Will they try to improved AFTER LeBron re-signs? CP3 not going anywhere. Cavs have to wait until LeBron decides. Cavs held on to assets so that when he re-signs they will have momentum to sign and/or trade. Big movement after he decides. -
IggyPride00If Lebron resigns (which is looking likely) I am interested to see where they go to really improve the team.
With Lebron likely only committing to 3 years, they don't have the luxury of letting things develop or waiting out bad contracts as the pressure intensifies exponentially with each passing season no title is won.
The thought of going into that 3rd opt out year with no ring (knowing he is gone for sure if they fail that year) is a nightmare scenario because the pressure on everyone will be ridiculous.
This summer they are kind of hamstrung, but everything needs to be geared towards 2011-12 because Jamison will be an asset to trade at that point, and it should allow them to really upgrade the roster. This year is just going to be really tough, not impossible, but without a challenge because the pickings are slim of available guys who they can realistically get that can dramatically help this team. -

devil1197LeBron is working out with Kid Congo at the Nike Camp. Windy says LeBron looks to be in great shape.
And start the theories, Chris Paul is with LeBron also. -
hoops23That Facebook timeline is hilarious!
Pale Free Agent Summit! lol... -
devil1197Good post by Smooth which basically states my opinions also.
Quote:
According to people familiar with their strategies, both players (James & Wade) have prioritized recruiting a low-post scorer and 3-point shooter as they decide whether to stay with their existing teams or venture elsewhere.

Wherever LeBron goes he'll have a low-post scorer (Chicago & Bosh maybe or NY & Amare) but how is he going to be able to recruit a 3-pt shooter, like a Miller or Allen, in Chicago or NY when they won't have the cap space to sign anybody else?
With the Cavs, we already have Jamison and if he can recruit, he could get Bosh... We also have many options via trade, S&T and can use our MLE to sign an Allen or Miller..
I hope LeBron realizes that once he signs with the Bulls or Knicks, they're pretty locked into the team for the time being with limited-to-no assets to make any other improvements..
While the Cavs may not have the young, raw, attractive talent, we do have good, proven talent and have multiple ways to get better... -
KR1245At this point I think Bosh might go to Cleveland or Houston. He wants that 6th year. The Raptors have no interest in any deal that the Heat can give them and the only way they make a deal with the Bulls is if they throw in Noah. IF Lebron would commit and try to recruit it wouldnt be that far fetched to think we could grab both guys. I'm not saying its going to happen but its possible

Its a big possibility but the media won't talk about Cleveland as a destination until LeBron signs.
Here is another post that is telling of why players are waiting to sign:
Ray Allen will give the Celtics “every chance of re-signing him,” but has been in contact with the top-tier free agents and wants to wait until they choose a team before making a decision, a person with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com Monday. -
hoops23Ric Bucher said before FA started that he felt Ray Allen would end up in Cleveland..
Of course he says this, because he felt LeBron was/is staying...
If the Cavs could miraculously pull off the s&t for Bosh and bring in Ray Allen, it'd look great.. BUT, we still need a Center. -
KR1245I would love Allen but would settle for Miller or even Korver

Z for the minimum? If they used the MLE on Ray they wouldnt have much to work with. -
hoops23At first I thought you meant Brad Miller LOL...
Yeah, I'd take Miller or Allen..
Not too sure about Korver.
