That would be a kick in the dick. I felt they would hookup with each other, I just thought it'd be in Miami; not Chicago. I think it's all a lot of smoke for right now. I've believed in Pat Riley, so if he goes down, I'm going down with him without jumping ship.

Wouldn't either Wade or Lebron have to take less than a max contract (assuming the Bulls can't move Deng) to play together in Chi-Town?
  • hoops23
    Yes.
  • jpake1
As of right now, yes. They might have something lined up though. I could also see Wade taking less for a ring.
  • jpake1
Okur may be that center, at least that's a name that's being thrown around.
  • ytownfootball
Deng is a fuckin' albatross for Chi town...deal breaker for many

I got tired of reading so if somebody said this already sorry.
Nobody is going anywhere until LBJ announces his choice. If he picks Chicago I bet Wade signs there too. When he signs in Cleveland though Wade goes back to Miami and I still believe Bosh ends up a Cav and from there the pieces will fall where they may.
  • devil1197
Deng is going to fuck Chicago over as no team in their right mind is going to take his contract of 11/12/13/14 million for 4 years all guaranteed.

Chicago can propose all the trades they want, it will take an act of pure fucking stupidity for anyone to take that contract on.

Listen, there will not be a trio of Wade/Bron/Bosh anywhere at all. Its not going to happen, too much money on the line that will be wasted. The pieces don't add up once you crunch and don't listen to the ESPN fools who think these guys will take huge pay cuts.
  • hoops23
I can guarantee you Utah will not take it. They traded Eric Maynor because of money issues, you think they'll take that ugly ass contract?

I say this because it was rumored that the "big man" was Mehmet Okur...
  • devil1197
Remember, if Windy is tweeting some in public it has some merit behind it. No major media people want to pay attention to what Cleveland could possibly do, hell LeBron wasn't a possibility for Cleveland until FA officially started and ESPN woke up.

IMO, Toronto wants LeBron to re-sign with Cleveland because they will get more out of a trade with Cleveland (believe it or not).
  • devil1197
And who called out LeBron for being a drama queen for this whole process???

How many times has he tweeted, interviewed, or spoke pubically about the process? While Wade/Bosh are tweeting, taking pictures, dining together, and leaning left and right every other minute LeBron is going through the process step by step.
  • ts1227
You're giving Windy a little too much credit, considering he had all but named Shaw the next coach.
At the same time... sure, ESPN was talking about all of the non-Cleveland options because LeBron staying put makes for boring TV

I do agree with your LeBron comment though. ESPN made all of the drama around him. LeBron hasn't drawn the least bit of attention to himself, whereas Bosh has all but set up a USTREAM account to webcast his meetings with teams.
  • devil1197
Everyone had all but named Shaw the head coach.

But the key with Windy is that he never said Cleveland offered Shaw the job unlike the other sources out there. He said if Cleveland would offer the job to Shaw that there was a high possibility that he would take it, but Cleveland never offered.

I have a good feeling that if LeBron can commit soon that the Bosh possibility increases greatly in Cleveland with Wade choosing Chicago because Miami will have missed out on the big names. That is if Amar'e goes to NYK.

Gilbert has to come out aggressive and tell LeBron if you sign we have a plan in place to get your running mate, plain and simple those are the first words that need to come out of his mouth.
  • ts1227
I have a bad feeling Gilbert may spend too much time selling him on Byron Scott, but you're right about how he needs to promise LeBron he'll go after another max contract guy.

Now it is the Cavaliers' turn.

When the Cavaliers meet with LeBron James on Saturday, the theme of their pitch will center on this being his hometown and how well the team and the fans know and appreciate him.

After two days of meetings with the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, the hometown Cavs are up next to make their sales pitch to mega free agent LeBron James.

Their strategy, according to sources, will be somewhat different from the other teams' and focus on just how well they know their superstar. The meeting is expected to be relatively short, nowhere near the length of the Knicks' and Heat's, who met with James for more than two hours.

Owner Dan Gilbert, General Manager Chris Grant and new coach Byron Scott are expected to be the principles in the meeting, but other members of the organization that James is close with could be present as well.

The Cavs also plan on playing toward James' sense of humor and playfulness, something with which the team is very familiar. The plan is to keep it loose and informal because of their long-term relationship with James, who has been attending the meetings in T-shirts and sweats while his suitors arrive in $2,000 suits.

Although the Cavs have met with James in person several times since the end of the season, they have been preparing for this moment for several months. While their presentation will not be as flashy as some of the others, sources said the Cavs spent significant money and time in creating their show.

The Cavs have displayed the theme of their pitch with the billboards reading "Home" that are across the city. The feeling of home and the comfort with the team is part of the selling point.

There will, of course, be serious business to discuss. The Cavs have two visions to explain. One is how Scott sees James within his systems and what changes he plans to make.

Scott and James already know each other. They have spent time together at events set up by mutual ally Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. But James doesn't know Scott as a coach. Scott hopes to change that today.

Speaking as if he were addressing James directly, Scott said at his introductory news conference on Friday in Independence that he wants the Cavs to be a running offensive team. That is something James has privately, and sometimes publicly, wanted to do more over the last several seasons.

"You could almost look at LeBron as a Magic Johnson type," Scott said, comparing James to his former teammate with the Lakers and close friend. "He has that type of ability, that type of skill."

The second piece of serious business is the roster upgrades that can be executed if James re-signs. That is where Grant and Gilbert come in. The other teams trying to sign James are working toward bringing in other top free agents. The Cavs aren't out of that game.

According to a source, the Toronto Raptors like some of the pieces the Cavs could use in a sign-and-trade for Chris Bosh. The Cavs, unlike rivals trying to get Bosh such as the Bulls and Heat, can offer a package of prospects, quality veterans, expiring contracts and instant savings.

Because of the depth of the roster, the Cavs can absorb a bad contract or two from the Raptors, which could save Toronto millions of dollars this season and years into the future and help with a rebuilding process after Bosh's departure.

It would all be predicated on Bosh wanting to come to Cleveland, and that would depend on James recruiting him after re-signing. So would all the other major moves the Cavs would look into and show James.

Which is why re-signing him is the first priority, and the plan is to show that to him today.

Good article, still think its a pipe dream to get both lebron and bosh. I feel like the team should have set up a meeting with Bsoh before hand if they wanted to get this done.

I'm thinking their meeting will include LeBron as the pitch man :)

That would definitely be nice. I would talk so much shit to my troll friends who have been telling me for the past 3 years that LeBron is leaving.
  • jpake1
Call me crazy, but I don't know if I would pick the Cavs to win the title with Bosh. It depends what they give up and who they get with the MLE.
  • grodt
They still need to finagle a true center/wide body before the season starts or else they're going to have problems.

I don't think bosh wants to play here. but you're right, getting bosh doesn't mean the cavs will win it all. but it sure would make them a lot stronger.

I totally agree. People that say Lebron is eating this shit up have no common sense going. LBJ hasn't even allowed an interview for God sake. The guy has handled this as well as he possibly can. People that rip on him need to STFU.
  • hoops23
No doubt jpake, but it sure as hell gets us even closer than before. We'd still have the MLE and BAE at our disposal as well.
