Not when he was in Milwaukee. -
GOONx19Hmm. I guess I just don't pay attention to it. I've always thought he was a pretty quiet guy.

Don't you remember all of his "guarantees" in the playoffs last year? First he guaranteed a championship (of course you WANT to be confident) but then they are trailing the Magic (and looking bad doing it) and he guarantees they'll win that series while playing in a craptastic fashion all along.
Did he talk shit during the season? No, but he sure as hell picked the wrong time to show his beer muscles last year. -
GOONx19Ah, I remember now. It's too bad. I like Mo a lot, but he flat out blows when May rolls around.

skankAll you bandwagon jumpers got your wish, the Celtics and the Lakers in the finals, and your still talking about the Cavs?

sleeperI agree. Despite Kobe, the closer, the black mamba, the MVP, doing his best to chuck his team out of another critical game, the Lakers found a way to win.
Simply amazing, Lakers in 5. -

That will be back to back Champion, back to back Finals MVP Kobe to you. -
Trueblue23Kobe was off tonight, but you can't fault him 100%.
There were probably 10 possessions tonight where we ran the shot clock down to about 4 seconds, then gave Kobe the ball and expected him to bail us out like he has done time and time again. -
sleeperAnd he was off in game 2 as well...
How many games does Kobe get "off"? Lebron never gets a game off. -

Lebron has been off for about a month now, what are you talking about? -
thedynasty1998I thought all season that Lebron was the best player in the NBA, and then in a couple playoff games, Kobe had me leaning towards him.
After last night, I'm back to Lebron. Lebron just has to do so much more for his team. The triangle offense in LA doesn't rely on Kobe to create for others and to score as well. Kobe can pick his spots to establish himself, whereas, Lebron must make plays almost every time down the court.
Lebron's getting a lot of crap for his playoff performance this year, and although one bad was inexcusable, he's been very good overall in his playoff career. -

He only "gets off" in Colorado hotel rooms. You should know that by now. (Sorry...it was an alley oop) -

No he doesn't. He just chooses to do it all. He has the ball in hands for 90% of the shot clock because he dribbles around looking for who knows what, while his teammates stand waiting for him to do whatever. Lebron doesn't run plays that the Coach has set up, thats already been proven. How many times have you seen Lebron dribbling the ball at the top of the circle for an extended period of time and then hoist a 3 pointer? Many times and I doubt that was the offense Mike Brown wanted or called. His supporting cast was good enough to win 60 games in back to back seasons.
If it wasn't for Mo Williams going off in Game 1 against Boston the Cavs lose that one.
All you have to do is watch Lebron during a timeout and watch Kobe in a timeout.
Lebron could less what the Coach is saying and Kobe sometimes leads the discussion. -
HeelzDidn't Lebron take off a few games before the playoffs started to "rest up"? Well at least he has enough time to work on his dancing.

Yes, and many people were all over Kobe for NOT taking time off when he was banged up during the season. They said it was "hurting" the team.
Which one is still playing in June? -

I think that was Mike Brown's choice to rest him and a bunch of others. Looks like it backfired to me. -
ytownfootballYou're wrong about LeBron standing at the point waiting for something to open up...that was last year. This year was different. The offense wasn't better for it either. That's on Brown and his over reliance on defense to open things up in the running game, he didn't emphasize transition well at all.

I think they took a kick in the junk, offensively, when their offensive assistant took that job as head coach in Detroit. Granted, they were no offensive juggernaut under him but they at least looked like they had a clue. -
thedynasty1998I'm not disagreeing about Lebron standing around with the ball for 18 seconds before trying to make something happen. However, that doesn't make Kobe the better player by default.
Also, I agree that Kobe takes the game more serious. You won't see Kobe posing for pictures before the game. Last night, I watched the introductions for the first time all year, and Kobe just walks on out and is 100% business. I love that about him. But like I said, that doesn't make him the better player.
I think Kobe's desire to win is greater and he seems to be more focused, but Lebron is still the better player. -

Oh no question. They never have had a focus on running any semblance of an offense other than whatever LeBron could create on his own. They would flash AV to the hoop with some regularity but there were nights when that was just not available. The offense was and has been very poor, especially against better defensive squads. People knock on LBJ when he was running point, but when that was the mind set, he would get 15 assists and still score 30. Problem was, we didn't know when to implement this variant. -

And this has pretty much been my bone of contention with Lebron. He IS the better athlete and player but he doesn't have that ONE intangible (desire, killer instinct, cutthroat mentality, whatever you want to call it) that Kobe does. THAT'S why I say I'd rather have Kobe when you need a win in a key game. It's not that I think that Kobe is more "gifted" or better, because he isn't. He is a killer though (on the court). -
Swamp FoxKobe doesn't come through every time the game is on the line in a play-off situation, but I'd love to know who comes through more often than Kobe. If this series goes seven, who do you suppose will have the ball in his hands for the final shot? Game 4 is incredibly important for the Celtics. I think they have to win. I can't imagine any team beating the Lakers three straight with two games on LA's home floor.

I thought I heard Mike Brown in an interview once say "as long as they play defense, they can do whatever they want on offense" or something to that effect. Guess that's why he's no longer the coach and Mr Potato Head's stunt double. -

Yeah, why I'm glad he's gone too. Thanks for the D Mike but there is more to coaching an NBA team than just D, especially during the play-offs. Just mind boggling to me watching time outs when we need a score and watching Brown stand in the back with his hands on his hips looking as if he smells something bad...c-ya.
