2010 World Cup talk
-
SportsAndLadyWell, the rosters are starting to come out.
Most recently, England's squad. I cannot believe Ashley Young or Gabby Agbonlahor didn't make the team.
Team USA's roster comes out today at 2. Shouldnt be too many surprises, should there?
By the way, the World Cup starts one month from today. -
Laley23I was LITERALLY about to start a thread about this.
-
SportsAndLadyhaha wow, fastest response to a new thread in the history of message boards haha

Laley23Here is a fantastic video to get you pumped up for the WC. It really demonstrates what the tournament is all about. Nothing else can unite a nation the way the WC can. Civil wars in Africa will stop for a month, people you hate will come together for the common goal. It is amazing how this one event transforms entire countries. NOTHING compares to its impact, and dont feed me the Olympics. That is a distant second.
Someone else embed it if you can. I havent been able to get it to work for a month. -

I wasnt kidding. I got on the board to start a "2010 Fifa World Cup" Thread and this was on the top. lolSportsAndLady wrote: haha wow, fastest response to a new thread in the history of message boards haha -

gorocks99Think any of the injured guys will be on the US squad? How's Davies' recovery going?
-
Laley23
He should make the team. He started training with his club team in late March. Gooch should also play as he was reportedly going to get the start for Milan this past weekend (never check to see if he did). Dempsey, well he has recovered already as evident by his miraculous goal for Fulham.gorocks99 wrote: Think any of the injured guys will be on the US squad? How's Davies' recovery going? -
gorocks99Looks like Gooch didn't get any time in AC Milan's game this past weekend.

mucalum49Looking forward to the cup but at the same time it breaks my heart. School/work got in the way I am having to sell my tickets to a July 2nd match at Soccer City in Jburg. I had to choose between a semester of grad school I have to pay for as well as paying for my trip or graduating in August and getting the school to pay for it.
I doubt this but if anyone was still thinking of going and wants to look into getting my tickets send me a PM. I have 4 up for resale at FIFA's website, 200/ea which was the face value. The match is in the quarter finals. -
3reppomI am pumped for to World Cup. Always have been, even before I followed the sport in non World Cup years. I am a little pissed off that I am going to have to miss the US England match on the 12th for my graduation. But I can dvr it, but I prefer to watch sports live.

I was cheering for them in 2006, but I would REALLY like to see Argentina or Spain break through. I wouldnt mind England, but since they are in our group it will be hard to cheer for them after the group stage.
The ideal thing for me would be to see an African team make a deep run. S. Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria, or Ivory Coast would be the most likely. -
rock_knutneFuck you "Jerk Off"! I have always rooted for the Italians, my parents were born and raised there, my father taught me the game and handed down his love of Italian football to my brothers and I. Who the hell are you to question who I root for, fuck off dickhead!
-
End of LineThe only time of the year I watch soccer. Except for the occasional English Premier Game.
-
rock_knutneLaley, that post wasn't intended for you my friend.
BTW, Laley will tell you were my loyalty lies, he knows from several years on the Huddle. -
SageA dude from Pittsburgh not cheering for America? Why am I not surprised in the least?
-------------------------------------------------------------
I'm riding out for America. And then on the "against anybody else from America" level, I'm cheering for CAMEROON BABY!!!! -
