Just watch Ivory Coast to see what the best player at said position has to offer :D:D

Kidding aside, Essien is the best holding mid there is in the game, imo. Just ahead of Yaya Toure (of said Ivory Coast). Very tough blow to Ghana, especially since they had a true shot of advancing. Still, do...but the road is certainly much tougher now.
Haha yeah I'd say him and Yaya are pretty much even. CDM is a cool position, you gotta be very well rounded in all facets of the game to be successful in that spot. I really REALLY hope Yaya is a Gunner next season.
  • Laley23
I really REALLY hope Cesc is a Blaugrana next year!

I do love the CDM though. Yaya as you said (well rounded) played center back in the CL final vs ManU, he has played an attacking mid, and has played a halfback. Mainly plays CDM, obviously, but its incredible the amount of stuff those guys are asked to do.

Cesc is as good as gone. I'm not even sweatin' him anymore.

Agreed. I dont think Wenger is gonna keep a player who has requested to leave. It isnt in his nature, imo.

Toure is as good as gone from Barca as well, just dont know if Arsenal will be the destination.

Count me as another who was glad to see Brian Ching left off the list. I too had to do a double take as I couldn't believe it.

The 23 man roster is pretty solid. Charlie Davies will obviously be missed, but Buddle, Gomez and Findley have to step up next to Jozy.

In other news, Samuel Eto'o may need surgery to mend his gaping vagina.

I love Eto'o, but he has always been a pussy when it comes to the media and criticism from people. However, in this case I kind of agree with him. He has played well for his country over the years, not spectacular, but better than a guy like Messi or over the last 24 months or so even Cristiano Ronoldo.

    Heskey made the England squad?

Italy goes to South Africa with out Totti, Toni and 2006 hero Grosso.

They will probaby line-up like this:

Goal Keeper- Buffon: no brainer here, GiGi is still one of the best on the planet.

Defense- Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Chiellini, Criscito: half the back line is aging but Chiellini is an animal and Zambrotta has been in top form.

Midfield- Camoranesi, Pirlo, Gattuso, De Rossi: Pirlo is still world class and De Rossi is one of the world's best.

Strikers: Gilardino, Rossi: Believe it or not, Italy will play with two forwards. Gilardino has been good, Rossi could have a coming out party and you still have Iaquinta who can score.

The Azzurri are a little older but still have world class players who know how to win.

I'm surprised at England's final squad. No Bent, no Agbonlahor?!

    de rossi, worlds best....que?
  • rock_knutne
^^^^Yes, De Rossi is one of the BEST midfielders in the world. He's been linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea over the last couple days, just to name a few:

lol riiiiiight..definately good but not one of the worlds best
  • rock_knutne
^^^^I just updated my post, he's wanted by everyone. It's common knowledge that De Rossi is one of the best midfielders on this planet, as usual you're way off base! If you don't believe me, just google his name and see what comes up.

I know who the fuck he is, and he is not top 5 in the world which means he isn't one of the best. As usual, you can't have a convo when it deals with your teams because you are a b blind homer
  • rock_knutne
^^^^As usual, you're a fucking clueless dickhead! You have ZERO soccer knowledge! BTW, who the hell are you to say he isn't top five.......Pele?

xavi, iniesta, fabregas, yaya toure, essien, nasri, modric, diarra, the list goes on and on and on and on

LMAO...................Diarra, Toure and Modric? There's only four guys on that list I'll agree with, the other's couldn't hold De Rossi's jock. He's in just about every single football publication, magazine, website or blog's top 10, some top 5.
  • Automatik
    More Italy nutswinging....no waiiiii!! ;)

De Rossi is a bush league BITCH.
  • DeyDurkie5
    rock_knutne;375488 wrote:some top 5.

Yeah, not all because he isn't a top 5 midfielder

the diarra was a half joke...Modric is a better central midfielder in my personal opinion

Why, because he cracked McBride with an elbow four years ago?

Honestly, why is it hard for some to acknowledge this kids talent? There's absolutely no question within the football media and through his peers that De Rossi is one of the best in the world.

That's your opinion...........just like those publications, but it's common knowledge that De Rossi is one of the best in world football.

I said he was good, and he definately is, but he isn't top 5 which is what you were claiming

AGAIN.......that's your opinion. Many other people through out the world would disagree with you.
