2010 World Cup talk

  • hoops23
LOL, this thread wasn't what I expected when I opened it up, funny nonetheless though.

Anyway, CAN'T WAIT for the World Cup to start. Best sporting event in the world.

I just saw that Ronaldinho was left off of Brazils roster. I'm not too shocked at this point, but it was still a little surprise. This dude was the best soccer player in the world a few years ago and I've always loved his game..

Anyway, really hoping USA can make a great push in this WC. They've shown flashes (beating Spain, hanging with Brazil) but they've also been smacked back to reality a few times as well..

Hopefully Tim Howard has another great showing for USA.

Ronaldinho was a shock to me. He had been playing pretty well for Milan this year and seemed to be focused for the WC. But Dunga went with the guys that got him here, so more power to him.

    Brian Ching is a bum!!!

I'm pulling for the US...obviously. Along with Denmark, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Spain. I was in Copenhagen when Denmark clinched their bid with a win over rival Sweden.....it was INSANE.

Also, I despise Italy. I don't know how anyone with two balls between their legs can support those whiney, greasy, boring style playing Italians. Heres hopign they don't even make it out of their group!!!

Wow, some of you have serious issues!

Keep hoping because the Italians will dominate their group.

The level of jealousy concernig Italy is laughable! You people should be praising them, after all the Italians have taught the world how to eat, dress and the ways of romance!

Don't forget, internet is serious business!

Figured that would be appropriate here.

Glad to see Chad Marshall made it.

Yea, we're only going as far as Dozy Jozy Altidore takes us. I hope he blows up, but I don't think he will especially considering they'll be keyed on him.

Probably just going to have to rely on counter-attacks. As a Villa fan, I'm used to watching boring, possession-chasing, counter-attack only attack football. So, whatever.
  • cbus4life
Happy to see Marshall there as well.

Get a phone that will stream it. Seriously.
I have a jail broken iPod touch that will have a world Cup on demand ap. The problem is the spotty WiFi in the shoemaker center on UC's campus.

I don't like not having Charlie on the provisional squad for the US. I know that the odds of him being at full health in time are slim but whats the harm in giving him a couple of more weeks to try and make something happen when his pace and finishing ability can be such an asset.

I do love Italian food, but I'm pretty sure people were fuckin' long before the Italians. Now, I know the Romans were some pioneers in sexin' up little boys, but that's not really my cup of tea. But, to each his own Rockne. Until the authorities catch up w/ ya.

^^^^What the fuck are you talking about? You need some serious psychotherapy.

I'm talking about your self-absorbed idea of Italians teaching the world how to do everything. Italians taught us about Catholic guilt concerning sex and underage sex slaves. Is that what you were referring to in your post???

lol....jealous? Don't kid yourself. You might support Italy because you are Italian, from Stuebenville, blah blah. But you can't deny they their style of play is a snoozer and they are the kings, better yet QUEENS of diving, whining, dirty play, etc. Not to mention their corrupt league. I'm from an Italian background also, hell my middle name is Marcel, you don't see me jumping on their bandwagon. USA! USA!

I've caught several of their matches during qualifying and struggled to keep my attention....borrrrrring.

You are right about dominated their group though....what a joke of a draw.
  • SportsAndLady
Hopefully Bradley play Dempsey up top with Altidore and doesnt play brian fuckin ching...but that is doubtful.
  • Automatik
Dempsey is at his best out wide. I'd be surprised if hes up front/center.

Buddle's been on a tear in the shitty MLS, will be interesting to see if he can do anything in camp or if he's just a warm body. Eddie Johnson too, I'd like to see him step up and make something of this opportunity (and he's been pretty good in the Greek league as of late) but I'm not holding my breath.
  • SportsAndLady
    Okay then Donovan.

Anyone...ANYONE..other than Brian Ching...or hell, any of those other forwards.
  • Laley23
Id like to see Buddle get the nod at the second forward spot. USA just cant put Dempsey or Donovan up top because they become essentially worthless to the team then. They are taken out of their games. Donovan is at his best running at people just behind the forwards and Dempsey is at his best as a winger who gets the ball in space and can run, create, cross, etc.

Nice attempt at the deflection squadouche, but we all know about you already. It's also funny how you follow me around on every thread I go to. What the fuck interest do you have in Big Red Football or World Cup soccer????? You follow me there then don't make any comments on the topic, just come up w/ some weak attempt to insult me. GTFO, cum stain.

The thing about Buddle is, he's a total unknown factor. His last int'l experience was what, 2003? Maybe he was a late bloomer and will provide something we haven't seen, but we don't know yet. I hope so.

Holy lord people, I get a kick out of some of these arguments as much as the next guy. But can we PLEASE not ruin this thread any further. Its a miricle it hasnt been ruined by soccer haters by page 4, no need to ruin ourselves.
