Those stadiums look awesome. I'm impressed by what the South Africans accomplished in building and rennovating for this World Cup, a lot of people thought they couldn't get it done. all those stadiums look geat except for the one in the bottom left of the picture.Automatik wrote: -
AutomatikI've seen pics of the Moses Mabhida Stadium...looks awesome!

rock_knutne^^^^^I take it the final will be played at Soccer City in Johannesburg?

Yep, I think they said the opening match and final are at Soccer City.rock_knutne wrote: ^^^^^I take it the final will be played at Soccer City in Johannesburg? -
AutomatikOf all the stadiums...which ones are brand new? If I had to guess I'd say all of them except the one in Rustenborg and Pretoria. If all are not new, I'm sure they did some major renovations to some.

SageGod the world cup is so silky

rock_knutne^^^^I thought they didn't reach any where near the ticket sale goals they wanted. I also heard that tickets are cheap for this WC.

Doesn't look good for the African "experiment" that is the WC 2010. -
hoops23How did South Africa get the World Cup to begin with? It's been nothing but trouble since they were announced the host.

Because FIFA likes to look like they care about bringing the game to areas it hasn't been. All it usually means is a lot of expense and headache.LTrain23 wrote: How did South Africa get the World Cup to begin with? It's been nothing but trouble since they were announced the host. -

Fifa wanted it the world cup to be in Africa it came down to Morocco or South Africa.LTrain23 wrote: How did South Africa get the World Cup to begin with? It's been nothing but trouble since they were announced the host.
on a side note the USA is bitting a bid in for either 2018 (probably a european country) or 2022 -
Laley23England is the front-runner with Portugal/Spain (combined bid) for 2018. USA and Australia are front-runners for 2022.
-
I Wear PantsI don't think you're allowed doing combined bids so I'd cross off Portugal/Spain.

This past year had I think 2 African countries try a join bid.
Im almost positive Portugal/Spain is favorites along with England. -
Laley23Just looked, Portugal/Spain and Netherlands/Belgium are joint bids for 2018/2022.

Thanks for posting that article. I was pretty sure they had trouble selling tickets for this WC. -

Little doubt in my mind that England gets the nod in 2018.Laley23 wrote: England is the front-runner with Portugal/Spain (combined bid) for 2018. USA and Australia are front-runners for 2022. -

Agreed, which is a little disheartening because I REALLY want to travel for a month during the next WC, but Ive already been to England twice. Spain/Portugal would(ve) been AMAZING!rock_knutne wrote:
