Yep, I think they said the opening match and final are at Soccer City.

Of all the stadiums...which ones are brand new? If I had to guess I'd say all of them except the one in Rustenborg and Pretoria. If all are not new, I'm sure they did some major renovations to some.

i have some friends that live in south africa and most of them attending the games, ticket prices for south african citizens were like 30 dollars and one of my friends scored tickets to the finals and paid a maximum of 100 dollars, i am super jealous of them

^^^^I thought they didn't reach any where near the ticket sale goals they wanted. I also heard that tickets are cheap for this WC.

most of matches are sold out i believe, i know in South Africa they sold tickets at reduce prices so the average South African could attend the game.

Doesn't look good for the African "experiment" that is the WC 2010.

How did South Africa get the World Cup to begin with? It's been nothing but trouble since they were announced the host.

Because FIFA likes to look like they care about bringing the game to areas it hasn't been. All it usually means is a lot of expense and headache.

Fifa wanted it the world cup to be in Africa it came down to Morocco or South Africa.

on a side note the USA is bitting a bid in for either 2018 (probably a european country) or 2022
  • Laley23
England is the front-runner with Portugal/Spain (combined bid) for 2018. USA and Australia are front-runners for 2022.
  • I Wear Pants
I don't think you're allowed doing combined bids so I'd cross off Portugal/Spain.

Since when???? 2002 was Korea and Japan

This past year had I think 2 African countries try a join bid.

Im almost positive Portugal/Spain is favorites along with England.
  • Laley23
Just looked, Portugal/Spain and Netherlands/Belgium are joint bids for 2018/2022.

Little doubt in my mind that England gets the nod in 2018.

Agreed, which is a little disheartening because I REALLY want to travel for a month during the next WC, but Ive already been to England twice. Spain/Portugal would(ve) been AMAZING!
