KnightRyderas much as i hate to say it , big ben has proven himself to be a franchise qb. teams dont just trade a franchise qb. he aint goin anywhere.
-
ts1227Officially:
Goodell comes out and says 6 games
Will be reviewed at beginning of season, where it could be reduced to 4. -
Emmett Brown
lol, I guess as a Pittsburgh fan you would not want him. It seems like no team wants him.rock_knutne wrote:

NonAtlanta
at Tennessee
at Tampa Bay
Baltimore
----------------
Cleveland
at Miami
They'll have their work cut out for them.
at Tennessee and Baltimore you can mark as losses now.
The other games -- Atlanta, at Tampa Bay, Cleveland and at Miami -- are all winnable with one of the other QBs if the defense comes to play. -

Easy read the conduct policy for the NFL. Pretty much sums it up.WebFire wrote:
I agree with this. How can you suspend a guy on accusations that weren't even strong enough to be charged for?se-alum wrote: As much as I despise the Steelers, and want them to lose every single game, I think suspensions like this are ridiculous. He wasn't charged with any crime. -

nah..pretty much expected him to be suspended so its no big deal. Theyll go 2-2 with a backup...which should be one game worse than if en was the starter mostly likely.Bigdogg wrote: Thevoice has now been put on a suicide watch!
they will recover... -
SpeedofsandOK, I have not followed the Ben stories very close. As I understand he was accused, twice, never arrested ? Looks like Goodell has convicted him along with the court of public opinion. There must be some proof that he did what is alleged in Georgia, just not that the law can prove beyond any doubt ? How many other players have been arrested for being thugs, and they get no punishment ? Bar fights, domestic violence, drunk driving, etc.
I can't understand how this is fair compared to what NFL thugs have done in the past, even if Goodell THINKS he is doing the right thing. -
Pick6hahaha,,,
I love listening to all the steelers fans cry. I expected 4 games. Im happy with 6.
BTW: on ESPN now it says "Steelers willing to trade", to me, that means they are shopping him. -
BR1986FBKeep in mind that he DID supply/buy alcohol for underage college students which IS illegal and a violation of the conduct rules. Should that warrant a 4-6 game suspension? No, but he IS guilty of that and I think Chris Henry may have gotten a suspension for something related to that.
-
SpeedofsandESPN just said 12 players have been disciplined under the new conduct policy. All 12 were criminally charged. All 12 were black. Now you have a white guy who is not even charged with a crime getting punished more than any of those 12. I'm not trying to make it a race issue, just stating a fact.

Yeah, that's pretty much was I was expecting. I was thinking more of 2-4 weeks than 4-6 weeks, but I was expecting a suspension of some sort.thavoice wrote:

Is Roethlisberger required to check ID's before buying drinks for people? I am not sure why this entered into Goodell's decision. Roethlisberger didn't break the law, the bar broke the law by admitting underage people.Keep in mind that he DID supply/buy alcohol for underage college students which IS illegal and a violation of the conduct rules.
Goodell made it a race issue by issuing such a strict ruling for an accusation and not a conviction. You could bet that if the previous offenders had been white and Roethlisberger was black, the punishment would have been much less severe.ESPN just said 12 players have been disciplined under the new conduct policy. I get it. So if he didn't ask for ID he should be let off scott free? I think there's a saying about "ignorance is no excuse' when discussing the law.Prescott wrote:

thavoiceThe purchasing for minors...in a college bar.....where they are getting servied themselves......that is reallly a non issue if you ask me.

Heretic^^
Yeah, I'd look at it as maybe one more straw that got put on the camel's back before it was broken, but not really anything that on its own impacted Goodell's decision. -
KnightRyderi hope he isnt suspended for the games with browns.
-
Footwedge^^If BB kisses Goddel's ass enough, then BB will be back for the Browns game. But he's pretty much gonna have to cut his dick off to get in good graces.

He shouldn't get off SCOTT FREE, but the buying of drinks for underage people should not be factored into the punishment. I think it is logical to assume that they wouldn't be in the bar if they weren't of legal age. It is also logical to assume that the responsibility for checking ID's falls on the shoulders of the bar and not Roethlisberger. -

A lot of bars let in underage people, they just mark their hands with an X or something.Prescott wrote:I get it. So if he didn't ask for ID he should be let off scott free? I think there's a saying about "ignorance is no excuse' when discussing the law.

Al CaponeBen will never wear a Steelers jersey again. If he doesn't get traded tomorrow, he'll get traded to a team that has a bad start to the season.

ALL of us Steelers fans aren't crying. I don't have any problem with the suspension. I think the way that Goodell handles these situations is great. I like that he comes down hard on players who do stupid shit. I respect it.
Furthermore, I LOVE Ben as a player on the field. However, whatever the Rooney's feel they need to do or should do....I support (not that they know or give a shit, just sayin').
It's all about the PITTSBURGH STEELERS for me, not one player. I will cheer Ben as a Pittsburgh Steeler on the field if he remains with the team. If he's traded......I'll cheer the guy that steps into his position just the same. It's not about the name on the back of the jersey. -

exactly..prescott must have never been in a bar before..justincredible wrote:
