Stanley Cup Playoffs

Ehh, Game 1 is irrelevant in most series, so I don't put much stock in what happened yesterday.

Still the Hawks defense looked really good, and the Sharks weren't that bad as they were winning most of the game.

The Flyers looked just sick. But, the Habs have come back from a beatdown to take the next game. So, we'll see.
I hate how they put both series on the same day. It makes no sense, other than Vs. not having anything to show until 10pm for the West.

Not playoff related but, Niklas Backstrom just inked a 10yr-67million deal.

Going to try to stay alive for the Chi game but not sure I will make it all the way thru.

Habs are on the ropes. 2-0 Philly late in 2nd.
  • slingshot4ever
Flyers win 3-0 to take a 2-0 series lead.
  • slingshot4ever
Blackhawks up 1-0 after 1st period.

Flyers are straight on fire. Damn, since being down 0-3 to the Bruins, they have won 6 straight. They have outscored the Habs 9-0 in the first two games. They are simply outplaying them, playing better defense, and doing something the Caps and Pens could not, get to Halak.
Leighton has played like Halak did in the first two rounds.
    Amazing by the Flyers.
  • Strapping Young Lad
Leighton's doing his Halak impression and Halak looks like he got some tips from Fleury before they left PGH.

Regardless of how hot the Flyers are, I think they lose handidly to either the Sharks or Hawks. The backup will eventually give up a few goals and the two teams in the West have a hell of a lot more fire power than the Habs do.

Hawks look solid so far tonight again against the Sharks.
  • slingshot4ever
Blackhawks up 3-0 now in the 2nd period.
  • ptown_trojans_1
Hawks are looking very good. Sharks looked almost stunned.

My Blackhawks haven't been to the finals since 1992 and haven't wqon the cup since the 60-61 season. Could this be the year?????
  • slingshot4ever
Blackhawks up 3-1 at the end of the 2nd period.

4-1 Blackhakws with 13 minutes left. Hossa with a great steal and assist on the goal.

Hawks are too deep and Niemi is playing out of his mind.

7 straight road wins for the Hawks. Impressive for a young team.

Come on San Jose and Montreal! A Hawks/Flyers finals would be a nightmare for us Pens fans.........we don't want want to see Hossa win shit and the Flyers can burn in hell!

I said from the beginning that Chicago would trounce the Sharks and so far they are. Too deep and are exposing the weaknesses of SJ greatly. Still think the Habs can beat the Flyers if they take both games at home but Halak has to steal a game for them in Philly.

I'll not count out Montreal, but man they are really on the ropes, IMO. They have a really tight margin of error b/c they aren't explosive on offense and as hot as Philly is playing, scoring 13 unanswered since going down 3-0 in gm7, Montreal is in trouble. Halak is not comfortable in goal and playing pretty shaky from what I've seen so far.

Camalleri is going to have to find his hot hand again and carry his team on his back offensively. Obviously game 3 is a must win (I guess it's ironic to say that considering we just saw an 0-3 comeback).

I think this is Chicago's Cup year. They remind me of Pittsburgh last year with the depth and the youth. Things have set up nicely with the 7/8 seed being the EC winner. That said, it's rarely easy to win the finals.

    Montreal is done.

I'm (shockingly) calling Chicago-Philly in the finals, it goes to game 7, and Chicago chokes because, and only because, they have Hossa.

I had picked those teams at the beginning of the year to meet in the finals. So I wouldn't mind it. NBC would love it since Chicag and Philly usually get good ratings. A SJ/MTL final would mean ratings hell for NBC.

^^ Chicago and either team in the east should draw decent ratings. Obviously, Canadian fans will watch on CBC or TSN should the Habs make it but between the two, ratings should be decent for a Hawks vs Habs/Flyers final

^^^^Any Canadian team in the SCF would draw huge ratings on CBC.

^^ Yes it would, whole country would be glued to have the possibility of an Olympic Gold Medal and Canadian team win the Stanley Cup in the same year. Ratings would be through the roof.
