Stanley Cup Playoffs

Cavs fans wish the Celtics were more like the Bruins

That has to be the biggest choke ever. In any sport, any contest.

I don't know what's worse, the Pens going out in the second round to Montreal or Filthadelphia completing this incredible come back with a chance to make the finals.........hate the Flyers!

What hurts is Philly has a very good chance to beat Montreal, they have no problem gooning it up for 60 minutes.

    7v8 has that ever happened?
Can we start the SJ vs Chi series soon?

Couple years ago I think. Anaheim vs ???
  • Laley23
Never mind. It was Edmonton vs Anaheim and it was 8 V 6.

I looked this up, but can't really find anything.

It's the first 7 vs. 8 in the current playoff format (implemented in 1993-94), but I cannot say if it's the first ever.

Calling it now, Habs win in 6.

    Finals are set.
    East
    7 Flyers vs. 8. Habs
Game 1, Vs, Sunday 7:00pm, Vs.

    West
    1. Sharks vs. 2. Hawks.
    Game 1, Sunday, 3:00pm, NBC.

Both series start Sunday, so another day without hockey.

Habs and Hawks in 6 are my predictions.

BTW... how stupid in the NHL for having those first 2 games on the same days? Creates 2 days of no hockey. They alternate after the travel day, but why not to start? Western Conference should be playing Monday and Wednesday, bottom line (I don't care about the travel from SJ to CHI).

It's OK, David Stern fucked up the NBA schedule worse... the series alternate, but both series have a THREE DAY LAYOFF between games 2 and 3, and 2 days of no NBA IN A ROW... no NBA on May 20 or 21.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Philly plays the perfect style to take Montreal out, physical and dirty.

Bettman reserves the right to change the schedule around depending on how it will benefit the team he wants to win.

We learned that last year for the finals. Bettman wanted Datsyuk out of the series and voila, change the sched around.

Versus doesn't exactly have anything else to show, so they should be easy to work with. NBC may have been difficult about it... I assume they were insistent upon showing the Western over the Eastern on Sunday because 1 vs. 2 draws a lot better than 7 vs. 8, otherwise the West would have began on Monday to set up the hockey every day sort of plan.

    Correct.

That Cup run by the Oilers was just incredible.

You said the same thing about the Pens....

I'll go with the hot defense and the better goalie.
I think the Habs can take it 6, as the Habs D is better right now.

No not exactly. I was calling for Pittsburgh to committ to using the body and they didn't do that plus the Pens are extremely relentless with the forecheck something the Flyers don't do. Pittsburgh lost that series because they couldn't finish, they heavily out chanced the Habs, Philly is content to sit back and play a low scoring, hard hitting defensive game. IMO, this will be a dull series to watch as far as offense goes but I'll tune in to watch the Flyers goon it up and to see how Montreal reacts to a team who will go all out to physically dismantel them.

On a side note, I think San Jose wins it all.

I actually agree, but think the Habs are better right now and that will lead them to win. I disagree about the Pens, cause I think they were simply outplayed, but whatever.

I agree the winner of the West will win the Cup, thought that since the start of the playoffs. But, I think the Hawks can win in 6. But, can see the Sharks in the finals.

Didn't Crosby only have one goal in the 8 seed Montreal series? Is that really winning big games on a routine basis?
