Good. That should stop all of the ill will. We'll have peace soon!gut;1763080 wrote:France President promising "to lead a war, it will be pitiless"...so looks like we will be putting real boots, in meaningful numbers, back on the ground soon. -

Oddly enough the airport is still operating. The issue will be getting there, though.Tiernan;1763075 wrote:Been dealing with this all night...my second wife and middle daughter are in Paris tonight. They are OK - about 30 blocks from the stadium blast. They were scheduled to come home tomorrow but I doubt flights will be leaving anytime soon. Embassy is asking all Americans to check in with them and let them know where they are. -

Ironic, since their open mass immigration policies certainly doesn't make it very hard for any terrorists to enter his country.gut;1763080 wrote:France President promising "to lead a war, it will be pitiless"...so looks like we will be putting real boots, in meaningful numbers, back on the ground soon.
That said, my heart goes out to the 150+ murdered, as well as the police killed trying to save the hostages at the concert hall. -
HitsRusNot the time to let our petty political differences distract us from the terrible, tragic events tonite. We will do what we have to do to stop this menace.

O-TrapHoly fuck. I knew this thread was going to bring out the Politishits, but that was earlier than I anticipated.
Guys, could you please ... just this once ... maybe not turn a thread involving current events into a political shit fit? Just this one time. Please. I swear, I won't ask again.
I have a friend in Paris, and I can't find any mutual acquaintances who have spoken to him. We're not super close or anything, but it's still troubling that nobody can get a hold of him. -

Glad they are OK. And hope they get back home soon.Tiernan;1763075 wrote:Been dealing with this all night...my second wife and middle daughter are in Paris tonight. Hoping for good news for you. Fucking terrible that shit like this happens. Just makes me sick to my stomach.O-Trap;1763103 wrote: I have a friend in Paris, and I can't find any mutual acquaintances who have spoken to him. Lovejoy1984Lets keep the politard shit out of this thread. Feel free to start a thread in that Forum if you can't control your need to some how blame Obama for this. Or if you must tell us that guns are the root of all evil.

He just checked in. He, his wife, and his family are all safe.sherm03;1763104 wrote:Hoping for good news for you. Fucking terrible that shit like this happens. Just makes me sick to my stomach. -
HitsRusI'm glad to hear that loved ones are safe....I cannot imagine the anxiety.

O-TrapThanks. Yeah, I'm glad he's safe. I'm hoping he gets outta Dodge until things cool down.

SportsAndLadyYou're a piece of shit if your immediate thought on this is politics.

TiernanMy daughter and Ex have left downtown Paris and are on their way via cab to DeGaulle Airport. American says flights are "delayed but operating". Those two have been thru a night of Hell - anxiety wise - and are wrung out. Using the "What's App" communication tool but it's really not great w/o strong wifi connection and it seems either towers are overloaded or damaged because we've had great comm up until last night. Now it's pretty much text with no voice calls. But they are OK and thats all that matters and should hopefully be in NYC by 4:00 today. Fingers crossed.

Well, this is political but non-partisan....how in hell did BOTH French and American intelligence services miss this?SportsAndLady;1763119 wrote:You're a piece of shit if your immediate thought on this is politics. -

Isn't one a critical subset of the other?Commander of Awesome;1763067 wrote:You turned into a guns rights debate, not a political what to do about terrorist debate. Nice spin fail though.

TiernanDelayed way beyond any chance to catch scheduled connect back to Cbus but they are on their way to Philly now not NYC.
Daughter is thankful for the cab driver that showed up at the hotel at the designated time even though Parisians were told to stay home unless they are "essential public workers". Here's the twist...cabbie was Muslim and apologized for those that did this. Crazy fkg world we are living in today people...you think you know the enemy and then something totally surprises you. -
Belly35I have friends in Paris, Germany and UK, we skype early this morning. They are very concerned that more of the same will be an taking place in other Europian capitials and events.
My friend in the UK said that this is the blueprint of things to come.
When only the bad guys have guns every event, gathering and public access is a soft target for crazy and terroist. If just one armed citizen returned fire how many lives would have been saved in that music hall .... 15 minutes before the first armed swat police entered the music hall building. 15 minutes
note: that was the comment of my friend in the UK
i think many citizens in gun free countries are rethinking -
TiernanThe band playing at the club was an American Metal band - the gunmen went there specifically thinking Americans would be in attendance.
-
like_thatWell Tiernan, I give you a lot of shit, but I am glad to see your family is safe. I am sorry they had to go through that, just fucking horrible.

Lets hope so. It was a huge mistake to let abject evil carve out a piece of geography and set up a government.gut;1763080 wrote:France President promising "to lead a war, it will be pitiless"...so looks like we will be putting real boots, in meaningful numbers, back on the ground soon.
I was looking at a satellite image of Raqqa, Syria in a news story about where Jihadi John was killed in a drone strike. I had to ask myself why has this place (capital of the Islamic state) not been reduced to complete rubble. -

Please learn how to read Belly. I don't know if you can't, or won't. -

You are going to see a swing to the political "right". I have read reports (not confirmed) that these killers were speaking fluent French. If that is the case even more so as it will be apparent that these migrants are radicalizing their children right under the noses of European governments.Commander of Awesome;1763067 wrote:I would also think that this is gonna have a huge impact on the migrant crisis i think. -

No shit. What sort of operations commander would design a foreign attack and not use terrorists who speak the native language?? those terrorists were likely in country for a while. ISIS isn't fucking around.majorspark;1763137 wrote: I have read reports (not confirmed) that these killers were speaking fluent French.
