Doc put me on anti-inflams to see if that will help prior to ordering a MRI or CAT. Not being able to lift exceeds the pain. Anyone else done this and how long will I be unable to lift for? I guess I'll be stuck with swimming and yoga to keep upper body strength.

Why do you think I shut it down for about 6 months? I just started my 3rd round about a year or so ago and I thought I ripped my bicep from the insertion doing pullups. Every time I would try to start a new round I would reinjure it. Finally, a little over 6 months ago I was able to start a 3rd round pain free. Over that time I continued to eat as I would training 6x's per week so I put some weight back on.

If you want a challenge, check into Insanity. The only upper body work is pushups. I will say that after 2 workouts doing these Max dvd's my body feels like it's in rigor mortis. My inner thighs & hamstrings are killing me and my knees are almost shot from all of the jumping. There is technically only one "plyo" workout for each phase but you are constantly jumping with this workout. You do this and you will be saying "P-90-what?" as far as the cardiovascular aspect goes.

6 months! Fuck. I was hoping that at the latest I'd be able to start lifting after the first of the year, 12 weeks from now. I am thinking about insanity, I love plyo and do my own cardio weekly. Main focus once football ends will be training for triathlons next summer.

Insanity will get you in phenomenal shape. My abs are coming in real nice. I thought I'd have to get into the 200-205 range to have truely shredded abs but with Insanity I'm thinking 225-235.

It may take you less time to heal. I was impatient and kept reaggrevating it with pullups. I'd check with your doc and see what he/she says.

BR you've got abs now!!!! SWEET!!!! I'm struggling right now, really f'd up my elbow. Almost feels like tennis elbow or something. It takes everything I can muster just do bust out some pushups!!! :) So I'm doing ab/core plus and cardio. Hoping that I heal so I can get back to a full routine soon!

I swear by these things. I wear them on my knees & elbows. Get a small if you're using them on your elbows. They lock in the heat, keep the joint warm and are tight. Great product!!

Those knee bands are money! They have helped me work out through several knee & elbow inflammations/irritations.

I think my bicep is about healed, hope to start lifting soon. Still doing plyo and yoga once a week. I should be getting back into this full time once football is over. Only three more games for me and then I'll hit it hard.

Got P90x for christmas. I am currently/will be doing some aerobic activity for a week or so to build up some stamina before I start. I am also currently fabricating a pull up bar to hang from my basement joist. I need to get weights still, which leads to a couple of questions.

    1. What size (lbs) dumbells shoudl I get? I haven't worked out in 3 years, before that in school i lifted and was 180lbs 4 times a week.
    2. I see this recovery drink and protien drink on the meal plan. I obviously can get my own cheap protien powder, but am unsure what i should use as a cheap alternative the suggested recovery drink. (I haven't starting to google stuff yet)
    3. I have a yoga mat, do I need yoga blocks? Or anything else other than the weights and pull up bar?

    Thanks.

    1. I bought 3 sets of dumbbells, 15's, 20's and 30's and they worked fine for me.
    2. I used to drink a glass of choc milk for my recovery drink. If you're looking to buy protein bars I would look at vitacost.com. I always buy my protein bars from that site. They have very cheap whey protein as well.
    3. I would get some yoga blocks if I were you, I got mine at Walmart for like 10 bucks.

I would get some push-up bars as well, I got a used pair at Play-It-Again for 4 bucks

    to add on:

    1) I have every 5 lbs from 5-40 lbs dumbells. 5 for some shoulder lifts, 40 for lawnmowers and lying triceps. I end up grabbing the 25 & 30 lbs most.
I think that I do not need any more weight than that.
    2) You can get Whey Protein at Walmart, I also get Naked brand smootie drinks there.
    3) I still need the blocks, but I am not very flexible.

Careful if you use bands, they will snap on you.

I am off to do yoga. Press play, do your best and forget the rest.

I am going to go with a low carb diet and low/no added sugar diet the whole way because I could stand to lose quite a few pounds. I am thinking of working out in the evenings around 5pm and eating immediatly after. As long as I do that I don't need a recovery drink. The smoothies like a good alternative. Also frozen fruit at aldis is cheap to make my own, but I want to keep the carbs under 60 grams a day I am not sure if I can do that, besides just eating one piece of fruit a day.

    Thanks for the input.

I finished my cycle. After that I downloaded insanity to try it out for a few weeks. I love it. I decided to take BR's hybrid insanity/p90x schedule. I am on week 2 so far, and I like it.
