New guy with a few P90x questions

BR1986FBCrushed back & biceps along with Abs/Core+ tonight.
Tomorrow I delve into the world of Insanity as I am subbing Kenpo/Cardio X+ with Insanity's Pure Cardio. If I don't post on here for a few days, send out a search party for my heart & lungs. -
I Wear PantsLooks like my hip and hand will have plenty of time to heal now. I sprained the shit out of my ankle last night. ER was entertaining at like 10 pm. It was like that people of Walmart site.

Good luck. I started month 2 of Insanity today and wow.... First is a 25 minute Fit Test followed by Max Insanity Cardio Interval which lasted an hour. -

Bigred1995I did Plyo today and after not doing plyo for almost a month I didn't do to bad. For the past month or so I was mainly running and doing a elliptical workout. I also noticed that my jumping rope has helped my hot foot tremendously!! I was going to start the "Spartacus" work out, but decided it was more of a cardio work out and just save it for my off/rest weeks of P90X

BR1986FBO-M-G Insanity Pure Cardio....that was rough!
-
BR1986FBFrustration level is pretty high. Just knocked out chest, shoulders & tris and my reps on pushups are decreasing. My chest is strong but my elbows keep getting weaker & weaker. They feel like they are inflamed and they hurt quite a bit.
-
BR1986FBIf you would have asked me 2 weeks ago what my normal comments would be at this part of the day on Sunday, I would respond "whew...hard part of the week, P90X plyo is done." Now my response is "dang...easy part of the week, plyo, is done...I still gotta do Insanity Pure Cardio later this week." LOL
I've dropped 3 pant sizes since I started a little over 6 weeks ago. -
SonofanumpDid plyo yesterday, switching to training for a triathalon, lifiting upper body once a week and swimming, biking and running alot.
-
I Wear PantsI've been doing a lot of one legged push ups and crunches. Stupid ankle injury.

I did plyo this morning; I hesitate to say it was easy, because with plyo, you can always take it to the next level, but I'm now actually able to do all of the exercises from start to finish without any stopping or using the "low impact" version of each move. I see it not being much of a challenge at the end of this round of P90X!BR1986FB;388444 wrote:If you would have asked me 2 weeks ago what my normal comments would be at this part of the day on Sunday, I would respond "whew...hard part of the week, P90X plyo is done." I found a guy that posted his Insanity Pure Cardio workout and it looks pretty intense! I wonder what it would take for me to get a copy of just that workout? -

I have my second bout with Pure Cardio tonight. After doing Pure Cardio last week and following it up with Plyo on Sunday, I could tell a major difference. Maybe "easy" in the description of plyo may have been the wrong choice of words but comparing Plyo to Pure Cardio is like comparing X Stretch to Plyo. There's a HUGE difference.
I only took 3 small breaks my first go round with Pure Cardio. I'm gonna see if I can improve on that tonight.
My biggest fear of doing these workouts is blowing out a knee. From the high impact and bouncing you say? No, from slipping and falling in the small pond of sweat that has accumulated below my feet.
I ordered a new pair of Under Armour cross trainer shoes because my shoes are crap. Hopefully that, and bananas, helps with my calves locking up. -
BR1986FBCompleted Pure Cardio yesterday and that workout is still a bitch. The hard part is when he wants you to do high knees and heel kicks (run where your heels hit you in the butt) at top speed after doing the other cardio moves. Your legs are so worn out you can barely lift them and they feel like cement. Burned 643 calories in this 38 minute workout.
Legs, back & ARX on tap for this evening. -
KR1245Do any of you guys use those adjustable dumbbell sets? I'm interested in buying some of the Bowflex SelecTech. I'm in my second phase and I really need to increase my weight, I figured it might be easier to just buy a set of these things instead of spending more money on dumbbells. Any of you guys have experience using these things?

I own a set of these. My set goes from 5-130 lbs. I prefer the PowerBlocks over the SelecTech's because the SelecTech's seem more bulky and take up more space. If you are doing any kind of dumbbell curls and supinate your wrists at the bottom of the movement, the SelecTech's will catch you on the thigh.

Besides Lasik eye surgery, these might be one of my best investments. You can't beat adjustable DB's if you're an avid lifter. -
mucalum49BR,
Pure cardio is a bitch but as I posted I started month 2 of Insanity last week, wait till Max Cardio Conditioning... -

I don't EVEN want to think about those max workouts yet. I start week 8 of my 3rd round of P90X on Saturday and I may switch things around in the "recovery" week. I may add the first 30 days' Insanity plyo workout along with the Pure Cardio. My last 5 weeks of P90X I'm going to alternate P90X plyo one week with Insanity's the next.
Then when I start my P90X/Insanity hybrid in my next round I will be doing the first 30 days Insanity cardio workouts during the first two phases (60 days) and then the max workouts in the last 5 weeks. -

Did you ever post pics or are we still waiting? -

Probably won't. I may post them on my Facebook page eventually. -
BR1986FBWhew....done with first time Plyo Cardio! That crap IS nuts. By the time I'm done with my P90X/Insanity hybrid come Nov/Dec, I should be shredded wheat. Burned 771 calories in 41 minutes with heart rate topping out at 180.
Of course I had to take breaks but I'll improve. The movements where you have to drop into plank are the worst. Can't catch my breath and it feels like heart/lungs are in my mouth. -
OneBuckeyeWhere is the best place to obtain material to start doing this? I canceled my gym membership and am thinking about getting into this eventually.

Online. For free. You can download all videos and info that is needed. -
BR1986FBWell, week 8 of round 3 of P90X is done. Subbing in the Insanity dvd's in preparation for my P90X/Insanity hybrid in about 6 weeks has doubled my cardio capacity and made the P90X cardio type exercises (plyo, Kenpo/Cardio X+) almost seem easy. The "magic" begins on Saturday.
