New guy with a few P90x questions

    "man o manischewitz"

Done with the weights until Saturday 5/29. Interval X+ tonight and then I start week 4 (rest week) before my first weigh-in. The momentum is starting to build up again.

"you got to work around the injury"

Did legs only (no back) today, then went on a run. Hopefully back to lifting in a week or so.

I ordered the Bas Rutten MMA workout can't wait to start.

Cool, tell me how it goes. I'm about to go do my next workout in the garage. My knuckles are finally healed enough that I can hit the bag again (with hand wraps this time).

I've stated before that core synergistics might be my favorite P90X workout. After a long layoff from P90X, not so much. I'm sure I'll be loving core syn by the end of the week after my second go round though. Forgot how much that disc blows you up. Over halfway through I think I spit up lung and some aorta..LOL

Haha nice. I hear that builds character.

I just finished another workout from Bas Rutten's system and it killed me. I'm getting a lot better endurance already. My knees and shins are loosing hair from kicking/kneeing the bag though.

I'm still doing well with the Bas Rutten workout. Have done at least one of the tapes (there are 8 different ones, two each of Boxing, Thai Boxing, All-Around Fighting, and All-Around Workout).

Today I did the boxing with two minute rounds then went on a hilly run afterwords. I can almost get in all the combos he calls out and I'm making few mistakes every time I do it.

The heat is making me sweat something crazy though.

Week 4 is complete with a 10 lb weight loss and 2% bodyfat shedded.

BTW....I took the plunge and finally ordered Insanity today.
  • BR1986FB
Started week 5, chest/shoulder/tri's today and my reps on pushup exercises were way down. The chest muscles are strong but my elbow joints give out way too early.
  • BR1986FB
BTW....dropped 2 pant sizes the first 4 weeks.

Plyo was rough with the heat today but the Jack3D seems to give me better endurance.

Got an e-mail this morning that Insanity will arrive by June 6th.

    Good luck!

Which cd are you starting with?
  • Rebel_ I.N.S.
I'm going to start with the all around workout & end with the boxing cd.
  • I Wear Pants
All Around Workout is probably my favorite cd.

Don't worry if you can't keep up with all the combos or if you screw some up the first few times on the boxing cd. Just skip it and continue on.

In the words of Rosanna Rosannadanna...."it's always something" with me.

I had one of those Walmart Sportline HRM's and about 6 months ago it came up missing. My guestimation is that it is now a cat toy hidden somewhere in the house.

When I had this HRM, it would measure some unbelievable calories burned (1300+ for some plyo sessions) but it eventually evened out as I lost weight. So, I decided to break down yesterday and buy the next model up (the only reason I wear a HRM is for calories burned...don't really care about heart rate).

I'm training back & biceps today and halfway through the workout, it's showing TWELVE calories burned while I have Lake Erie forming under my feet from the intensity/heat in the garage. So, back to Walmart to trade it back in for the old model. No way I only burned 12 calories in 25+ minutes of work.

As I'm doing Abs/Core+ following the back & bi workout, I feel like I tore my clavicle from it's insertion. I imagine it's just a pull so I'm hitting it with ice. Good workout though.

Legs & back done with 832 calories burned.

Insanity arrived today so I'll be previewing the videos over the weekend.

Anyone know the difference between the p90x diet and the insanity one?
  • Bigred1995
Has anyone here ever tried the Spartacus workout? I'm going to start this on Monday and I was wondering if I should make this my cardio workout or if I should make it my lifting workout. The way it's structured makes me think it's designed as a cardio, but can easily be a lifting workout. Can anyone help me out?

I just got the Insanity package and it seems like there are a lot more carbs than with P90X (although I haven't read the entire Insanity nutrition guide) and fewer calories allowed (with Insanity). The fewer calories allowed part makes absolutely NO sense because I watched the first 3 Insanity dvd's last night and that workout looks like it could be a bitch. Doable, but a bitch.

Yesterday while doing the All-Around Workout CD of the Bas Rutten MMA Workout I kicked too low on my bag because I over-rotated my hips the one time and I felt like my shin was going to snap in half. For some reason my bag is way more hard than a bag has any business being. It's not a self fill or a cheap brand either so I don't know why it's like that.

Oh well, my leg felt fine in five minutes but damn did that hurt.

I can already tell that I'm making progress. I'm able to do more push ups when that is what Bas yells out and my stomach muscles are also feeling better/tighter.

Well, my hip popped pretty good while playing soccer today and it's killing me so I think I'm gonna take a day to rest and recuperate before getting back to it. My right hand could use the break too as it's still pretty tender.

    Definitely want to rest that.

Don't know if I would have went with the "My right hand could use a break" comment though. This crowd can be merciless.

    I'm left handed. :D

But anyhow. Yeah, I had trouble getting up steps earlier but it feels great now so I think I might have just over stressed the muscles and my hip happened to pop or something. Should be good to go for tomorrow but I'll stretch for a while and warm up a bit more than usual to make sure.

Chest, shoulders & tri's along with ARX done. Elbows are really starting to tick me off. The chest is definitely strong enough but my elbows are giving out long before my chest is ready to on pushups. I've been icing my delts, elbows & biceps daily.

I like to think I bring it strong during every P90X workout but after watching the Insanity dvd's I felt like a slacker. Let's just say that plyo was performed at a newfound intensity level today.

Noticed something a little different too. I may have refined my diet in such a way that my body has become more of a fat burning machine than a weight loss machine. I can see my body holding a lot more weight at a lower bodyfat level than my first two rounds (I've obviously put some of the weight back on that I lost in the first two rounds).
