Will there be a Civil War II?

Not sure what you are getting at, but I won't engage in a war of semantics. States have rights to "powers" as defined by the 10th amendment in The Bill of Rights.isadore;1737727 wrote:states have powers. people have rights

is denying a basic human right to a marriage of 3 adults, in love, as bigoted to deny the right of gay and interacial copules too? Or do you need the media to tell you this for a couple of years to make that statement? -

The Bill of Rights describes the rights of people and some minimal powers reserved to the states.HitsRus;1737734 wrote:Not sure what you are getting at, but I won't engage in a war of semantics. States have rights to "powers" as defined by the 10th amendment in The Bill of Rights.

HitsRusIs the right to marry specifically listed in there?...if it is not, then it should fall within the powers of the state.

1. The definition of a couple is two.
2. There are many polygamists in the Bible. Some of them were God's favorite people (including Abraham, Jacob, Gideon, Solomon, and David). God didn't seem to mind. -

What does the bible have to do with this question? I'm asking you. Are you okay with this or are you a bigot too?isadore;1737738 wrote:gosh a ruddies

Gosh a ruddies not according to the Supreme Court who defined it as a basic right which the states could not deprive people of based on the good old equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment as applied in the Loving decision nearly 50 years ago and reiterated by the Court on June 26th.HitsRus;1737737 wrote:Is the right to marry specifically listed in there?...if it is not, then it should fall within the powers of the state. -

So you and I should get the media on board to attack every group who isn't for polygamy marriage. Those bigots need to know better.isadore;1737743 wrote:Gosh a ruddies, no problem between or among consenting adults. -

gosh a ruddies yep it all part of that long arc of progress described by MLK that bends toward justice.rydawg5;1737745 wrote:So you and I should get the media on board to attack every group who isn't for polygamy marriage. Those bigots need to know better. -
rydawg5Why does it take so long? Why do we need the media to tell us what is right and wrong if its a basic right?

because of the power of hatred and bigotry to slow human progress.rydawg5;1737747 wrote:Why does it take so long? Why do we need the media to tell us what is right and wrong if its a basic right? -
HitsRusThe supremacy clause only applies when CONGRESS has acted within its constitutional authority. Has congress acted on this?....hence the "somersaults" of controversy.
-

Congress proposed the 14th Amendment that became part of our Constitution. That gave us all equal protection under the law. Marriage is a basic right that states were denying to interracial couples and gay couples. Now I realize you see it as some sort of somersault to allow interracial couples the right to marry but the court did not see it that way.HitsRus;1737750 wrote:The supremacy clause only applies when CONGRESS has acted within its constitutional authority. iclfan2Shabazz is an anti-Semite and a racist. Basically the black version of a KKK member. Yet the hypocritical media never really mentions that.

obviously you do, the court has rightfully declared marriage a basic right to its citizens, hardly a somersault.HitsRus;1737765 wrote:No, I don't. -
