Confederate Flag doesn't hate
-
Belly35Confederate Flag means more that just what the view of Black perspective.
The flag is part of Americana history of what our country struggled with as a young nation, the pride of the southern soldiers who fought for their believes, which is part of what make America a proud nation, good times, partying and friendship, hospitality of the south, the charge of fearless competitor…. the rebel within many of use who honors our freedom and individuality.
Those who want to see the hate and racism in this flag are those that are the haters and racist and taught to see only the racism.
Maybe the Confederate Flag should not be demonized by the racist Black leadership but represents a symbol of their struggle as a free individual in a country that recognized wrong and corrected the issue with the blood of white brothers against brothers.
Lower the Confederate Flag will create only animosity…. stop Federal funding of the NAACP is this not a racist organization by today’s standards. Will the Black community be upset?
The real symbol of racial hate in this country is in the Black Leadership of this country, news media, Politicians and the profiteering of Black organizations.
Is our country more racially divide now than 8 years ago…. ?
After answering that question ask your self this question: Has the Black community, families and employment of Blacks improved over the last 8 years?
The Confederate Flag didn’t .. racially divided nor has it made the Black community worse off ….. the real symbol of hate is within those who have mislead the Black population for years … with hate… and not love of country. -

thavoiceYEah. My thoughts exactly.
They lost.
Did it cause this whacko to do this? No. -
ZoltanAt it's core it's a symbol of white supremacy. It should embarrass white people to have it up.

He's not entirely wrong though. But over time that flag has become the symbol for racism.Scarlet_Buckeye;1736726 wrote:Belly... I tend to agree with you sometimes on here when most bash you, call you stupid, and disagree... but sorry sir, you're just flat out WRONG here with this one.
I do agree with the point about the South losing the war. That is the one really good reason for the flag not ever flying in the first place. -

I would say at the surface it's a symbol of "white supremacy". At it's core it is not.Zoltan;1736736 wrote:At it's core it's a symbol of white supremacy. It should embarrass white people to have it up. -

Wrong. At it's "core" it represents the Southern side of the Civil War, who were defending themselves and their way of life (right or wrong) from the North.Zoltan;1736736 wrote:At it's core it's a symbol of white supremacy. It should embarrass white people to have it up.
SOME people have bastardized it into something else, including a symbol of supremacy. -

Check your history. The flag has nothing to do with slavery itself.Zoltan;1736739 wrote:Over time? That is exactly what it has always been. -
sleeperI would just take it away from state government because its retarded and it'll give black people one less thing to blame other than themselves for their problems.
It's a win win in my book. -

You sound like a typical racist. It's funny reading all the comments on articles in Columbus of all the butt hurt white trash hillbillies in this state.Belly35;1736721 wrote:Confederate Flag means more that just what the view of Black perspective.

thavoicePersonally when I see the flag it reminds me of the General Lee and The Dukes of Hazzard.

It's a fucking piece of cloth. Both sides need to STFU about it. -

A nice little "history" lesson for you too. It's the symbol of confederate cause, which was white supremacy.WebFire;1736743 wrote:Check your history. The flag has nothing to do with slavery itself.

HereticAccording to a tiny bit o' research, the Confederate Flag originated in 1861, so its only purpose was to be the symbol of the rebels during the Civil War. Which they lost. Meaning the main purpose it serves is as a reminder that failures fail. Personally, I don't know why people'd be so defensive about a symbol of their inferiority, but whatever floats Carolina Jr's boat.

lhslep134This is such a dumb argument. It doesn't matter whatsoever what the flag used to stand for. It only matters what it represents now. And now it's the symbol of racist Southerners.
Guess what: the swastika wasn't always a symbol of hate but now it's become one. http://www.ancient-origins.net/myths-legends/symbol-swastika-and-its-12000-year-old-history-001312
So Belly, should we allow swastikas to be plastered everywhere because of their peaceful origin? No. So shut the fuck up you hillbilly racist. -

They were defending slavery. It's not complicated. Read the link I posted above if you need a refresher.iclfan2;1736742 wrote:Wrong. At it's "core" it represents the Southern side of the Civil War, who were defending themselves and their way of life (right or wrong) from the North.

rmolin73Lol of course Belly would have this stance.

I don't need to read an article to know what they were fighting about. They were fighting for state's rights, not slavery. Now, yes, most of those states supported slavery, and it would have continued on if they won the war, at least for some time. But that is not what the war was about.Zoltan;1736774 wrote:A nice little "history" lesson for you too. It's the symbol of confederate cause, which was white supremacy.

I have already agreed that over time, the flag has become a symbol for racism. But it's debatable if it ever should have. I also agree that it shouldn't fly because THEY LOST THE FUCKING WAR! -

Fighting for their rights. Their rights were they wanted slavery (along other things). But they weren't fighting for slavery?
Don't be so dense.
