Big passenger jet may have gone down

  • Midstate01
According to both articles I just read, only 3 Americans.

Good news is it doesn't sound like terrorism was a cause.

Still doesn't make a lot of sense that nothing was heard from the plane if it had an oil leak some some think.

I would not be surprised if this were a hijacking. A stolen passport has been identified as being brought aboard for one thing. No communication that we have heard from as of yet . Communist Vietnam may have brought this jet down with the good graces of China. I wonder what Jesse Ventura is thinking.

Are you confusing the oil spots in the ocean with a cause of crash?

Why doesn't it sound like terrorists?

I was reading that for now officials don't seem to think it was a terrorist attack. Of course that could change and may change many times.

The oil spots were where I saw they were focusing their search and thought it could have been where the plane was dumping oil. No idea what all that means though.

Not really as a cause. More so as a clue. Hopefully.

Damn.. we are very much a superior race in the eyes of the public. Didn't know that was still a thing. People dying should "hit home", dare I say, even when zero Americans are the victims..

Prayers go out to all, even those non-american families.
    The American race, huh?

The survivors could be on a small island with a strange magnetic core that has an existing group of inhabitants from a Neo Utopia Civilization experiment gone wrong.

If it was terrorism. Someone would've claimed it no? Isn't that the point?

havent had time to do any reading on this, but can someone explain the stolen passport thing? 1) How do you get on with a passport that isn't yours and 2) how do you not identify the stolen passports until after the fact?

My guess is Malaysian Air Travel security isn't exactly the toughest system to pull shit over on. As long as you have the three chickens and a goat airfare you can pretty much get on the plane.

Airline CEO said no distress signal, so it had to be sudden and catastrophic.

The 2 oil slicks are indicative of each fuel tank having broken apart on impact.

Jet airliners don't just accidentally blow up ..................... and neither did TWA 800.

Crap! I had the same thought as Rockne. FML.

Whoever the fuck Rockne is...but if you had the same thought I did on anything it would be a huge step forward for you.

Yes, this is very disconcerting. It would seem that once you report a passport stolen the barcode would be flagged - I suppose there are ways to get around that but if they knew it was stolen now, why not know it at the airport? KL and Malaysian Airlines aren't third world cities and businesses. No one will confuse them with Cathay or SingAir but they've enjoyed solid reputations.

It is complete craziness to think in today's world with all the electronics and tracking and such we have now that a plane this size could literally almost vanish as it has without a trace.

Outside of the stolen passport thing they don't seem to have a clue still.

Pretty much, stolen passports are basically a normal occurrence, they likely have zero to do with this plane going down.

The oil slicks they found not related to the plane.

Almost think it would be suicide by the pilot at this point.

Stolen passports can be used for many things so it may or may not have had anything to do with it.

Wouldn't there be quite a lot of debris if the whole plane impacted the ocean as one?

Even if it disintegrated at 35,000 feet, there would still be a ton of debris floating in the water.

but it would have been very spread out and difficult to find.
