Big passenger jet may have gone down

gutI guess no one in this thread has mentioned yet that the Chinese picked-up a ping? Likely the black box, but a number of things can produce a false positive. Given the way everything has gone, I'm going with the latter.

we were just waiting on you to report it since you pretty much did that with everything else in this threadgut;1601340 wrote:I guess no one in this thread has mentioned yet that the Chinese picked-up a ping? TiernanThe Chinks have no fkn idea what they're doing and this "pinging" will be another dead end - bank on it.

reclegend22That the biggest plane in the world can vanish into thin air in 2014 is an embarrassment to the entire aviation community. Despite hundreds of millions of dollars of cutting edge technology on board, a jumbo jet can apparently still get lost and go missing. It's a baffling thought.

TiernanEvery once in awhile the Universe likes to remind us that we are very infinitesimal beings taking up an extremely minute spot in its vastness. This is one of those times...chuckle and move on.

thavoiceThis will most def change the aviation world forever.
There will be much more tracking of planes and done so in a way that no one can turn it off.
I had wondereda bout that after 9/11 when they turned off the transpondres. I was surprised there werent GPS on them . -

It didn't vanish into thin air. It vanished into the ocean. Given the vastness of the ocean, this isn't embarrassing.reclegend22;1601852 wrote:That the biggest plane in the world can vanish into thin air in 2014 is an embarrassment to the entire aviation community. -

That the plane supposedly flew for 7 hours in the opposite direction after turning off course without anyone noticing is embarrassing.dlazz;1601972 wrote:It didn't vanish into thin air. It vanished into the ocean. Given the vastness of the ocean, this isn't embarrassing. -

you all may have discussed it alreayd but now they are saying it flew around indonesia as to probably not go in their airspace.reclegend22;1601980 wrote:That the plane supposedly flew for 7 hours in the opposite direction after turning off course without anyone noticing is embarrassing. -

So, terrorists, as long as you fly around a country, you can steal a jumbo jet and fly it pretty much wherever you want.thavoice;1601981 wrote:you all may have discussed it alreayd but now they are saying it flew around indonesia as to probably not go in their airspace.
Does that sound ridiculous to anyone else? Again, with hundreds of millions of dollars of state-of-the-art technology on board, how can the biggest plane in the world just disappear and fly seven hours in the opposite direction of its intended destination without anyone noticing? The fact that a transponder can just be flipped off is crazy. -

Because there's thousands of airplanes in the air at any given time.reclegend22;1601985 wrote:Again, with hundreds of millions of dollars of state-of-the-art technology on board, how can the biggest plane in the world just disappear and fly seven hours in the opposite direction of its intended destination without anyone noticing?

So because there's a lot, losing track of one is somehow okay?dlazz;1601989 wrote:Because there's thousands of airplanes in the air at any given time.

It's not "okay" but it shouldn't shock anyone that one fell off if the radar. No pun intendedSportsAndLady;1601992 wrote:So because there's a lot, losing track of one is somehow okay? -
reclegend22So where was Malaysia when Flight 370 flew over Malaysia a second time after turning around over the south Chinese sea? (At this point, it would have been an unmarked plane, which should create some concern).
As soon as it was apparent that the plane had significantly deviated flight paths (i.e. turned the fuck around), attention should have been paid. -
TiernanNo matter how PC you wanna think you are...Malaysia is still a third world shit hole and their technical diligence would not be what you would find in the US or Europe or probably even Russia. This could easily happen again in Africa, SE Asia, India or any of the 'Stans.

Manhattan BuckeyeMalaysia isn't third world, not by any stretch of the imagination.

reclegend22Breaking News: "Optimism fading."
Experts say the pinging the Chinese heard was likely dolphins. No further pings have been heard since the Chinese reported them over the weekend.
Might be time to bring back in Bill Nye The Science Guy. Lol at the Chinese trying to finish in first place in this search. -
gutYou're a little behind....Australians with US tech already found two different pings yesterday, hearing one for up to 2 hours and then 15 minutes on the return sweep.
Completely different area than where the Chinese were. I doubt it's true, but someone said there was a rumor the Chinese had a black box on board and it might have gotten splashed and started pinging
