Sore as hell today. I lost count of the dips i did, but was doing 10 to 20 per set. Probably did over 200 push ups with it too. I'm just happy I was able to do more than 5 dips without feeling like my arm was going to fall off, so I'm happy with the purchase. Looking forward to benching with it too.

Told you it was worth it.

Besides the avoidance of injury, where the Slingshot has added value is the fact that you'll be able to overload your muscles/ use added weight. I don't use the sling for incline DB presses and I noticed the weight I could handle, for higher reps, increased significantly just due to being able to handle a lot of weight on my bench.

As I mentioned to you, I'm planning on purchasing the BenchDaddy sling next to compare it with a Slingshot.

Good stuff....glad it is working for you. Always like being able to help a fellow lifter when I can.

Honestly, wasn't sure I was getting much out it since i felt like i was bouncing on a trampoline, but based on how I'm feeling today I gotta say it works. Still gotta get used to it a bit and pause more and try to bounce less.

When you bench with it, you'll be able to get a nice pump assuming you do reps in excess of 8.

Love the slingshot. I'm not a strong bencher, and I've got some impingement in my shoulder. However, you can throw on your 3-5 rep max and really up the volume and get some good form work in. I'll throw on 225 and can do some 10x10's.

Precisely. I have a left front delt issue and that baby keeps your elbows tucked and in the right groove/sweet spot to bench safely. Not sure if Mark Bell invented the concept but whoever did is friggin smart (and probably rich).

So i tried benching with it today and it went poorly. I felt like the slingshot was trying to bring in my arms closer together and i was fighting the weight and the slingshot. I put on 185 and figured i'd start doing some volume, I was super shaky putting up 1 rep. So went down to 135 just to try and get used to it, but i felt like i was fighting the weight and the slingshot the entire time.

Was my bench form that different/wrong that i'm just dealing with the slingshot correcting how i should be benching? I love it for dips and push ups, so really want to figure out what i'm doing wrong.

How wide is your grip? If you bench with a bodybuilding style (elbows flared/wide grip) it's not going to be as successful as if you used a powerlifting (elbows tucked/shoulder width grip). Do you use your natural arch (shoulder blades pinned/back arched with ass still on the bench) or just lay on the bench flat? Bench pressing (successfully) is kind of a science/artform. I learned this after years of training.

So on an olympic bar, I put my pinky on the outside marks. It's definitely wider and not shoulder width. I lay flat, i don't arch my back, just keep a wide base with my feet flat on the floor. Using the slingshot felt like i was doing a narrow bench. I felt like i was bench pressing for the first time again .

Move your grip in a bit. I have long arms and had to adjust to this. It's kind of like wearing a bench press shirt. It's kind of an art to figure out the right groove to maximize the effect.

Yeah - I'm 6' but I have long arms, about 6'4. I bought the XL and it feels a little tight when I get it on my biceps, I guess it'll just take time to get used to it.

Plus those things are designed to be overloaded. The Maddog that I have is 2 ply and is not recommended for those benching < 350 lbs. 135 probably felt very awkward with the red sling.

It felt awkward in the sense it was trying to pull my arms closer to my chest while i pulled the weight down. It'll definitely take some getting used to.

That's what it's supposed to do. It's keeping your elbows tucked and taking the torque off your front delts. Once you get the hang of it, your shoulders with thank you.

Yeah, that is what pretty much everyone already knew though.

There are still plenty who defend it as valid.

lol, I laughed a doctor out of the room one time when I was VERY lean at 180 (5' 7") mostly muscle. He told me I needed to lose about 20 lbs because I was overweight.

He never even looked up at me, was just looking at the chart.

I simply asked him "and what part of my body do you see 20 lbs to lose?"

He finally looked up, just said "well, nevermind".

I said "boy am I glad my insurance paid for this doctor visit, this was a waste of my time. Oh, and not to be mean, but for one, you should look at the patient and not the numbers on your chard. And two, you might want to lose a hundred pounds before you tell someone else they are fat."

He was about my height and was easily 300 lb.

    I found a new doctor ;).

I'm decently "jacked" at 5'7, 185 or so. Health insurance at work referred me to a consultation clinic since I'm still young and approaching the high-end of overweight and trending toward obese. Says I should weigh between 137 and 151, haha.

Even better, I "fired" a doctor a few years back who was about 6'0, 260, smoked, drank half a dozen Diet Cokes a day and was trying to give ME advice. It's such a shitty system. The ONLY solution today is to basically do your own research and self-treat EVERYTHING short of needing life-saving surgery or emergency medicine.

The sad thing is, many of these people get to school in decent shape with good habits. I've seen several of my friends just free fall out of shape because they can't handle the stress of 7 exams in 4 days every month.

Years ago when I started my life insurance (got a rather big one for my wife and kids), I had to go through a complete physical to make sure I was in good health.

I asked the insurance agent if they were just going to use a stupid BMI to determine my rates, because if they were I was going to go somewhere else that would actually check my health.

Luckily, he said no, they check things like urine samples, blood samples, heart rates, blood pressure, etc.

When you are young a large term life insurance is dirt cheap. I think it is less than $20/month. Not really a brag to be able to afford $20/month.

That went WAY over your head. LOL

That's pretty much what I do.

Going to start a high-intensity workout plan on Monday. Be interesting to see how that goes. Nice thing about this one is that you only really need dumbbells, as while many of the exercises might involve a pull-up bar or barbells, there are dumbbell alternatives for those. Which works for me, as I don't have the most free space out there to put weight stuff, so I focus on dumbbells since they don't take up much space.

It was a good run with the "make shit up as I go along" style of workout planning, but after a while, the results started stagnating and when that happens, I find it trickier for me to maintain interest in things.
