That's solid. Bench and shoulder press have always been a weak point for me, especially now because of shoulder injuries. Trying to get back over 225lb on bench, I'm at 220 for 1 right now. When i got hurt about 18mo ago i couldn't do any barbell bench without pain and i wasn't able to go over 50lbs dumbbelss for more than a couple reps. Did a lot of light weight work and PT exercises on my shoulder and last summer i was finally able to use the barbell for bench and shoulder press again. So my squat and deadlift are a lot farther along than my presses. I've been doing a 5/3/1 program, mixing strength and volume sets and it's been helping me get my numbers back up.jmog;1717507 wrote:I am about 10.5 months in (started working out last May) and I am down 31 pounds. I am basically right at where I want to be weight wise (could be a couple lbs lighter and wouldn't be terrible).
I have went from doing bench sets of 175 to 275 in that 10.5 months (other exercises have gone up too, but not as drastic). I am switching to more strength training and less cardio now that I am real close to the goal weight (had been doing about 3 days each a week, now will probably do 4 strength and 2 cardio). -

Nice. I have trouble with military press due to past shoulder injuries (partially torn rotator cuff in one, broken ball joint in the other, both years ago).Raw Dawgin' it;1717519 wrote:That's solid. I guess I should state that at only 5'7" I was 212 lb and am now 181. Have maxed out on bench once at 345, would like to get to double my weight. -

I'm telling you, if you have the money for it, get the Slingshot. Yes, it will aid in increasing the amount of weight that you use but the reason I got it was because it will allow you to bench pain free. I have a wrecked front left delt from benching bodybuilder style (wide grip) for years that that tool (Slingshot) allows me to bench pain free. You can also use it for dips, pushups, flat/incline db presses, etc. I'm not going to throw out the word "guarantee" but I'm 99.99% sure it will help cure your ill's.Raw Dawgin' it;1717519 wrote:That's solid. I've thought about it, but just haven't pulled the trigger. I'd probably use it more for dips, i don't know the last time i was able to do more than 8 without feeling my arm my rip off.BR1986FB;1717523 wrote:I'm telling you, if you have the money for it, get the Slingshot. My belief on it was this....if you're sore and can hardly lift, would you use an aid like Bengay or something like that? I'm not out to set any powerlifting records. I just want to add/keep as much size as I can and by using this tool, I can handle the weights I need to. To me, it's like wearing a knee or elbow sleeve to protect my joints. Without this, I'm going to a) handle much lighter weights and b) (most importantly) am going to be sore as Hell, risking injury.Raw Dawgin' it;1717524 wrote:I've thought about it, but just haven't pulled the trigger. Makes sense. I use knee sleeves for squats and a belt on heavy squat and DL sets. Everything time i think about buying one though i go "I could probably put that $60 toward something else i need"BR1986FB;1717525 wrote:My belief on it was this....if you're sore and can hardly lift, would you use an aid like Bengay or something like that? Like shoulder surgery? I look at it like a one time investment. Cheaper than supplements over the long haul.Raw Dawgin' it;1717526 wrote:Makes sense. GOONx19Anyone ever experienced a TFCC tear or know anything about them? I've been told I likely have one. I can't rotate my wrist at all. Not painful if it's locked, but simple things like fastening my belt and wiping my ass cause 9/10 pain for just a few seconds. I can't curl 10 pounds.

Can't help ya here man. I sometimes have wrist issues but I think that's from dicking around on the computer too much. Never had a tear (knock wood). Very odd but the only time I really notice the pain is when I'm doing dumbbell side laterals on delt day.GOONx19;1722320 wrote:Anyone ever experienced a TFCC tear or know anything about them? Tried one of the farmers walk complexes...holy fuck, do not do this at the end of a work out, i did it after chest/back. I will definitely do this 1 or 2 times a week on days I don't lift.BR1986FB;1721375 wrote:https://www.t-nation.com/training/farmers-walks-for-fat-loss -

I'll do farmers walks with 250-350 lbs on a trap bar. I can't imagine doing one of those workouts with that weight. I've heard it's good to set up an obstacle course for farmers walks. Not sure whether I'd do that or not. Farmers walks are a grueling exercise to being with.Raw Dawgin' it;1722424 wrote:Tried one of the farmers walk complexes...holy fuck, do not do this at the end of a work out, i did it after chest/back. Damn, seriously? What is your max deadlift?BR1986FB;1722536 wrote:I'll do farmers walks with 250-350 lbs on a trap bar. I can't imagine doing one of those workouts with that weight. GOONx19That's a ton. I've never tried more than 160. How far do you walk?
-
BR1986FB
Somewhere between 650-700. I don't max on that lift so I can only approximate. I do reps with 600+. The trap bar I have weighs 50 lbs and I have a 100 lb plate on each side.like_that;1722543 wrote:Damn, seriously? What is your max deadlift? -

I'd estimate the distance in the alley to be between 30-40 yards. I haven't measured. I'll walk only direction, put the weight down for a second, turn around and walk back. When I'm done it usually feels like I'm going to cough up lung. FW's are a bitch.GOONx19;1722549 wrote:That's a ton. I've never tried more than 160. How far do you walk? -

I like trap bar walks. Over 250 i use straps because my forearms are dead. I have also started doing one arm carries to get more of a core work out in. Pick up a 60-80lb dumbbell and walk.BR1986FB;1722536 wrote:I'll do farmers walks with 250-350 lbs on a trap bar. I can't imagine doing one of those workouts with that weight. Raw Dawgin' itAnyone have any advise for helping a hip flexor strain? I've iced and taken some motrin. Pretty bummed about the injury since my deadlift and squat were making good progress on the 5/3/1. Might have to repeat a cycle to get back to where i was, i haven't squated or deadlifted in 2 weeks because of it.

I'm not training for any powerlifting competition so I always use straps. Use them for deads, rows, pulldowns, pullups, etc. Granted, my grip strength probably sucks but I'm all about hoisting the most weight possible with the best form possible.Raw Dawgin' it;1722644 wrote:I like trap bar walks. So i ordered a slingshot, should be here tomorrow. With my legs being hurt i can focus on chest and back again, looking forward to doing some pain free dips.BR1986FB;1722647 wrote:I'm not training for any powerlifting competition so I always use straps. BR1986FBGood stuff here. I've done the bacon in the oven along with the eggs in the oven but being a peanut butter junkie, that peanut powder looks intriguing....

I am a fan of powdered peanut butter. Just so expensive, however until this article I didn't realize they sell them cheaper in bulk. Good to know.BR1986FB;1722880 wrote:Good stuff here.
