ernest_t_bassSo what about HIIT?

HIIT should be fine, I'd think, as long as you're not doing it for extended periods (30 minutes+).ernest_t_bass;1668050 wrote:So what about HIIT?
TBH, it really depends on what you're going for. Myself, I want to keep as much muscle/stay as strong as possible while getting lean. This is going to entail heavy lifting with explosive type cardio. Some people prefer the steady state (i.e distance runner type workout) cardio which is going to give you a totally differnt body composition (look). To each their own. -
ernest_t_bassDoing HIIT 2x per day for the next 2 weeks. After my 21 Day Fix'er is done, I think I may do HIIT (T25) in the a.m., and do some lifting 3 days per week after work.

BR1986FB2x's per day could be overkill. There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing."

I bought a food scale after I started reading that site. It's not that expensive.Automatik;1668048 wrote:It's been dead slow at work, so just doing some random reading and research.
I know I've mentioned it before, but rippedbody.jp is just awesome for IF and training info. They recently revamped their site and it's much better than before, lots of useful articles.
I found this article interesting. I've always done cardio regularly, sometimes more often then not....but always party of my overall routine. This is saying it's pretty much unnecessary for the majority of people looking to lean out by using IF.

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting a food scale. It's tough because the holidays are coming up, but I still want to get into somewhat of a routine. -
AutomatikHow did you go about weighing, protein specifically? Before or after cooking?

I think the rule of thumb is before.Automatik;1668073 wrote:How did you go about weighing, protein specifically? Before or after cooking? -

It's only for 3 weeks. Considering I've been doing nothing before I started this, I guess it is better than that.BR1986FB;1668055 wrote:2x's per day could be overkill. There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing." -

I do it after since I cook more than one serving, so I weigh my servings.Automatik;1668073 wrote:How did you go about weighing, protein specifically? Before or after cooking? -

Raw Dawgin' itI feel like this picture right here is everything wrong with CrossFit. IMO the risk of injury in an overhead squat severely out weighs the benefits, let alone doing overhead pistol squats...what is the fucking point of this?

AutomatikBecause Instagram bro!
I just got out of my current gym commitment. The place is terrible after work and only a single location. For $10 more a month I can join New York Sports Club and go to locations all over the city. The only downside is I have to commit for a year and some of the locations have terrible reviews. It's a big decision for me. I'm always weird about joining a new gym. I've been burnt in the past and stuck going to some real hell holes. -

If New York sports club is anything like Washington sports club, you're not going to like it.Automatik;1671116 wrote:Because Instagram bro!

Buy a day pass. I've gone to some gyms though and a day pass costs as much as half a months membership though. Most places will have someone give you a tour of the gym. My work situation changes so i go in the morning or during lunch because of the same problem, after work is packed and the facility isn't big enough to handle the crowd.Automatik;1671116 wrote:Because Instagram bro!

AutomatikYeah, same company. They have them in Boston too. I was a member when I first moved here. It was only a single location membership and the place was pretty nice, 2 blocks from my apartment. It was nice while it lasted, then I moved.
There is also a brand new one about 10 min away from my current place, but somewhat of a bitch to get to after work. That's my thing. I need there right after work or all will go to hell. If I go home after work, forget about it.
They do 30 days for 30 bucks, so I'm signing up for it Saturday. I don't have many options, so most likely I'll be joining.Raw Dawgin' it;1671121 wrote:Buy a day pass. Raw Dawgin' itI've read Planet Fitness is $10 a month but they limit the weight you can use and also have free candy and pizza parties ha
-
AutomatikThere is on Planet Fitness somewhat close, but it's a total shithole and the clientele is terrible.
I don't really get the hate for PF. I went to the one in Clintonville for 2 years when I lived in Cbus and it was fine. -

They have a grunting alarm and they promote people to not work hard and stay fat haAutomatik;1671125 wrote:There is on Planet Fitness somewhat close, but it's a total shithole and the clientele is terrible.

AutomatikThey had the alarm, but I never heard it go off. For the price the place was awesome. They did have the pizza nights though, which is fucking weird lol. Also...no deadlifts.

rrfanBest purchase ever was to put my gym in my house. Spend some money and do it right and you will be thankful for the rest of your life. One of the smartest things I have ever done...and I have done many...
-
AutomatikI envy those with a home gym, but I don't see myself being in a situation that would allow that for a very long time.
Hell, I'd be stoked just to have one in my building. Maybe when I move next. -
Midstate01I do crossfit and I've never seen anyone doing whatever that dude in the picture is doing. Crossfit has been great for me and the coach I have is great. The crossfit fan boys get on my nerves. But the workouts have been awesome for me. I dropped 7% body fat in 6 weeks and have gotten a lot stronger. I'm enjoying it.

In my opinion, crossfit isn't worth the money. I don't think their programming is designed to get you stronger after the initial plateau and I think doing complex movements against a clock is a sure fire way to get injured.Midstate01;1671161 wrote:I do crossfit and I've never seen anyone doing whatever that dude in the picture is doing. I am a member at one right now, but I haven't been going so I will cancel it soon. No place for deadlifts, and only the squat racks that are on rails (power rack?). They do bring in pizza which is really weird, and they do have an alarm that goes off if someone slams a weight in the free weight area.Automatik;1671131 wrote:They had the alarm, but I never heard it go off. sherm03Joined the Cincinnati Sports Club. After my ankle injury, I've been pretty worthless. I did my physical therapy, but haven't really done anything since. So I joined up and have been doing some exercises to get rid of the beer gut and strengthen up.
It's expensive, but it might be the nicest gym in the area.
